Show Us Your life - Dining Rooms

I'm posting this a little earlier than I will most weeks.  Harper has strep throat and we have had a VERY long night and day today.  So I don't have the energy to post anything else so I decided just to go ahead and put this up for your early birds!

This is my dining room looking in from the living room
And looking from the foyer
I got this floral arrangement at a local store (Signed, sealed, and Delivered) when we moved in and I still really like it
We got our dining room table from my in-laws as a wedding present. I really like it and how it's a little different. A few years ago I sought out to get two more chairs but never could find the pattern. My plan eventually is to get two parson chairs to go at the two heads with red or chocolate brown monogrammed slipcovers. We very rarely use this table but 6 chairs would be goood for when we do.
I framed the grid of botanical plants a few years ago and recently changed them out with brighter flowers. I got the set off of ebay.

I love to throw dinner parties but I haven't in over a year or two. It just is stressful with young children (to me anyway) So It will probably be a good 3-4 years before I pick back up on throwing dinner parties. Dining rooms are one of those rooms that seem like wasted space but are nice to have them when you need them. I remember how much I loved eating Christmas/Thanksgiving dinners in the "formal" dining rooms at both of my grandparents houses growing up. It always seemed like such an event! I think that's where I learned to love to entertain, cook, (and eat!) My grandmothers and my mother were and are all wonderful hostesses and cooks.

So - let's see those dining rooms!!!!!

Fellowship Tuesday

I had the best day yesterday! It started off with Bible Study at church.  Yesterday we were watching a video by Priscilla Shirer.  If you have never heard her speak or done a study by her - RUN and find the nearest you tube video, book, study that you can do. She is AMAZING! I always come away blessed after hearing her speak.  And she's the mom of three young boys so I can identify with so much of what she talks about.  She also has a HUGE heart for all you single girls which is something I adore about her.
She was sharing on the verse that has been the theme for my life the last few years - Ephesians 3:20 "God is able to do immeasurably more than all you can ask or imagine".  She just drilled home that GOD IS ABLE!! We put Him in a box and limit what we think we can pray for or hope for but He made the universe and He loves us.  He CAN do anything - sometimes it's whether according to His sovereign plan if He will.  That can be hard to understand but it all boils down to we are not the mind of Christ. Either we trust God or we don't.

After Bible Study we had a lunch for new women members in the church and it was so much fun.

 Laurie, Amber and Angela
Our Sunday School Class girls have started having dinners once a month at each other's homes.  We call it "recipe dinners" but honestly we don't really exchange recipes as much as we just get together to eat and talk.
 Erin, Kacy, and Stephanie
Last night we met at my friend Amanda's beautiful new home and she made us a great fall dinner of baked potatos and soup and a yummy dessert.  We brought the toppings for the potatos.
Mary Avery, Amy and Amanda
Sweet Rachel and Me
I had the best time I have had in a LONG time. We laughed so hard I was crying. My favorite thing was we sat around the table after we all ate and Laurie asked us funny questions that we went around and answered. I'm SO thankful to have a group of friends who I can share life with, cry with, who inspire me to be a better person, who were there for me in a HUGE way when Harper was so sick...................but who also make me laugh so hard I can't breathe!

15 weeks

I'm 15 weeks!

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 15 Weeks
Size of baby: Baby H is the size of an apple
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 3 lbs - I'm so big already but luckily have only gained 3 lbs. I gained all my weight at the end with Harper (and I GAINED) so I'm sure it's coming!
Maternity Clothes: I'm wearing my normal clothes but I have a feeling I'm going to live in tunics and leggings this pregnancy!
Gender: Can't wait to find out!
Movement: Pretty sure I felt the baby last week when I was laying on my side!
Sleep: I'm so tired - that I sleep pretty good!
What I miss: Sonic vanilla diet cokes (I can't lie!)
Cravings: Mexican food and fruit
Symptons: I'm starting to feel a lot better. I'm just EXHAUSTED. All I want to do is sleep and lay down. :-)
Best Moment this week: Hearing Harper say the names of her future little brother or sister!
I am SO much bigger now than I was with Harper at this point. (and I was WAY more tan with Harper. ha!)
Can you find Dawson in both of these pictures? He is never very far from me - he's a TOTAL momma's baby!
How cute are these shoes? I've gone a little nuts over shoes for Harper. She was lucky to get several hand me downs but I couldn't resist buying her a few pairs. Shoes are just SO cute on little girls. I told Scott as much as we would love a boy - we kind of need another girl to wear things like these shoes again! :-)
I think the little girl wearing the shoes is pretty cute herself. (Her hair is a mess and no bow - we just got home from a long morning at church and she was ready to nap!)

** My dress came from Target. I added the big flower - I got it at Forever 21. Harper's dress came from a consignment sale. Her shoes are Puddle Jumpers.

These are the members of my family

I'll have to do my week 15 post tomorrow. I have terrible allergies and this is the only day this week I don't have to get ready and go somewhere so I'm still in my PJ's with no make-up and just not picture ready! ha!

Instead I thought I would share a video of Harper saying all the names of the people in her family! She can say both of our baby names but we aren't telling the girl name just yet so we will have to post that on a later video! Mostly I want to remember her at this age when she first started saying everyone's names. She just started saying her name and I have heard it no less than 500 times today! ha!

Clearly she didn't feel like saying Razorbacks after Saturday! ha!

Weekend

Well - you probably know by now that I was NOT streaking across the field after the game yesterday.  It was a great weather day for football and I enjoyed being at the game and being on a date with my husband and I enjoyed the first 24 minutes of the game but the last 6 minutes were brutal and we sadly lost. Alabama is a GOOD team.  I was very disappointed. I didn't expect to win but when we led for almost the entire game - it was hard not to get let down when we ended up with a loss. Oh well - hopefully we will both win the rest of our games this year. The SEC is a TOUGH place to play in but I love our "family"!
So thankful for my mom who kept Harper so we could go to the game and for my dad for going with us and dropping me off at the stadium so I didn't have to make a long walk up the hill! Love ya'll!  We had a great time anyway!
Today it has turned COLD! It's only in the low 60's and Harper and I both wore sweaters to church! I think it's going to warm back up this week but I'm enjoying kind of a cold, gloomy Sunday.  Perfect napping weather. (Which is what I should be doing instead of writing this blog post. ha! )
My dad's church gave him a month off for his 25th anniversary so he started it this weekend and they stayed and went to church with us this morning. Harper was so happy to have "nonny and poppa" here. I heard their names all morning. We came home and ate lunch and they left during her nap so she will not be happy when she wakes up.  She loves all of her grandparents so much. She was saying all of their names on the way to church this morning.  She wants nothing to do with me or Scott when any of them are around.  I don't blame her! :-)

P.S. My friend Bethany is doing a neat tribute to Breast Cancer for October - survivors or lost loved ones. If you have been affected by this awful disease - go HERE to her blog and join in!

 Saturday, September 25th (tomorrow)

CBS
#1 Alabama Crimson Tide takes on the #10 Arkansas Razorbacks
Biggest game in Fayetteville in almost 40 years

To say I'm excited would be the understatement of the year
To say that our town is excited would be the understatement of the year

I'm not expecting to win but if we do - you might want to check on me - I might be dead! :-)
I seriously may lose my mind if we win.  Look for a blond pregnant girl in a red dress running across the field after the game! :-)
You know I love all you Alabama people but I just have to say

GO HOGS GO!!!! BEAT BAMA!!!!
Whoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Pig Soooooooooooooooooie!!!!!!!

Show us your life - Master Bedrooms

If you are new to my blog - we are touring our homes room by room on Fridays! To play along - just post on your blog about that room and then put the link to THAT POST on the list! Let's have fun touring!! (and a quick note - these Friday posts will be posted sometime between 8 and 10 on Friday mornings!)

Today is master bedrooms.  This is my least favorite room in our house. I just have never done a lot with ours. And I keep thinking I'll work on it but I'd rather work on a new nursery or on our other rooms first. Maybe I'll get great ideas for your rooms!

I bought our furniture when I was single. I still like it but one day I'd love to have a big four poster bed. One day - I don't know when that will be. ha! I mix and matched some bedding I got from Dillards and Wal-Mart.  I added in the orange comforter for warmth and I kind of like it.
A look on the other side of our armoire.  Our walls really need something on them. And we need a big chair in the corner or something.
My nightstand table is full of books I hope to read one day - mostly parenting books and a few Christian books. (and a picture of us when we went on a cruise a few yeas ago! ha!)
I laugh at Scott's side - "Hunger for God" by John Piper and Cabela's catalog. And underneath is a whole bunch of nerdy computer programming books that would put you to sleep in 5 minutes. I love the man I married! :-)
A close up of our bed!

Okay - it's your turn! Let's see those bedrooms! (NEXT WEEK - DINING ROOMS):

I'm a Dancing Fool

Y'all.

I love to laugh at myself.  I mean clearly. I have posted all kinds of pictures of myself from high school when I had huge hair and unfortunate outfits. I have posted pictures of myself from junior high with thick glasses and braces.  I think life is not too fun if you can't sit back and laugh at yourself.

Which is why I'm about to share the following video with you.  I had practice today for my Dancing with the Stars (coming up in 6 short weeks) and I thought I would give you an update. I was laughing so hard I couldn't breathe when I saw this. I realize that I'm worse than Kate Gosselin when she was on DWTS.  Add in my growing belly - and it's probably not going to be pretty.

Which is why you should probably go to www.realitycheckinc.org and vote for me! Because voting makes up part of the decision who wins. I don't know that I'm going to win the dancing portion. ha! But most importantly - you would help raise money for a great Christian organization who is making a difference among teenagers.

And if you need something to do on November 6th and live in my area - I would LOVE for you to come laugh at me in person!

Y'all go ahead and laugh at me. I know this poor Baptist girl has got no dancing skills. But it's for a good cause!  And I have to add - I can watch DWTS with a new outlook now - this is HARD! WAY harder than it looks. You have to think about a bunch of things at once - your feet, your frame, your facial expression, the way you hold your head. Trying to do this with crazy pregnancy brain is only making it worse.

(Oh and I should add that I look uber serious because I'm concentrating so hard but they told me the waltz was a serious dance and that I am not supposed to smile. That kind of goes against who I am but no smiling during my dance!)

Baby Monkey

Scott has called Harper "Baby Monkey" since she was born. She's just a little monkey. So I just love this little outfit and thought she looked so cute in it this morning for MDO! I love that her and the Monkey have the same bow. She kept looking down at her shirt and saying "Bow". We had such a nice morning because for the first time she walked right into MDO and started playing. She looked at her teacher and pointed at me and said "momma" so her teacher would know who I was I guess. Then she kissed me and waved her hand and said "Bye" and never looked back.
My Aunt Linda got Harper this little flower headband and tutu to dress up in. I got it out for her this afternoon and she wanted to put it on. I let her look in the mirror and she got so tickled at herself. She wore it for a long time!

Here is a schedule for Show Us your Life - Home Tours! This will carry us until December and then we will probably do Christmas decorations and recipes for December. You can always find all of this at www.kellyskornershowusyourlife.blogspot.com (it's on my left sidebar)

14 weeks

I'm 14 weeks today!

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 14 Weeks
Size of baby: Baby H is the size of a lemon
Total Weight Gain/Loss: Gained 3 lbs
Maternity Clothes: I'm wearing my normal clothes but I have a feeling I'm going to live in tunics and leggings this pregnancy!
Gender: Can't wait to find out!
Movement: Pretty sure I felt the baby last week when I was laying on my side!
Sleep: I'm so tired - that I sleep pretty good!

Cravings: Mexican food and fruit
Symptons: I'm starting to feel a lot better. I'm just EXHAUSTED. All I want to do is sleep and lay down. :-)

I woke up this morning a little worried because I thought my belly maybe looked a little smaller. I saw this picture I took today and I'm not so worried anymore. If I didn't know better - I would think there were triplets in there.

P.S. SO excited that one of my very best friends, Hillary, is announcing good news today! So happy to share this time with her!! Makes it so much sweeter!

Weekend Trip

Scott was out of town this weekend to do some "pre-hunting preparations" so Harper and I decided to make a little trip to visit my parents. The hogs played at 11 and I decided the only way for me to really "see" the game was to put her in the car and leave then so I could listen to it. We pulled up to my parents house with 1 minute left in the game and I couldn't get out of the car until I heard if we were going to overtime or if we would lose. And then we won with 1 minute left. I jumped out of the car and was yelling and jumping up and down like a crazy woman. It's a good thing my parents live way out in the country!

My mom went to the Beth Moore simulcast Saturday so Dad and I spent the afternoon playing with Harper and trying to watch a little football. My mom came home and we ate pizza and watched some more football!
Sunday Harper and I got to visit my parent's church. My dad is a pastor so it's always special for me to get to hear him preach. And Harper got lots of attention from the sweet people in their church. She was really sweet this weekend. She even started saying "Nonny" to my mom. She says "nonna" but it's close enough!
Harper is just in love with my parents and with their dog "Bop". She looks for him constantly.
Her favorite thing is to ride around in her little car at their house. My poor dad pushed her and pushed and pushed her.
We enjoyed our visit. We came home this morning and I'm glad to be home. Harper has been so funny today. Some days she can just wear me out but today she has just been a joy. She has been making me laugh all day with her funny expressions. She has also been sleeping SO good which I think has put us both in a better mood. I'm SO thankful and hope it continues!

WE love you Poppa and Nonny! We look forward to seeing you this weekend when we go to watch our #10 Hogs take on #1 Bama!!! It will be the biggest game we've had up here in a LONG time! I can't wait!

Hog and Baby Spirit

* Scroll down to the next post to tour a bunch of living rooms this weekend!!!!!

Tomorrow is game day and it's a big day for my #12 Arkansas Razorbacks. We are headed to Athens, Georgia to take on the Bulldogs (11 central on ESPN if you want to call the hogs with me!) and I'm as nervous as a cat. I just want to win so badly. Because next week we have the #1 Alabama Crimson Tide coming to our house (not my house literally but Razorback stadium) and I have a feeling Game Day might broadcast from here if we are both in the top 10 and it will be the biggest game and my sweet mom is keeping Harper so I can actually go to the game! Do you feel my excitement?
So what is a girl to do but dress up her baby girl for MDO in this Razorback ensemble.
It's okay if you just squealed because I did too this morning. The cuteness overtook me.

(and because I know you will ask me - her dress came from HERE when she was a baby and we can finally wear it and I just ordered her shoes from HERE.)
You kind of want to call the hogs right now, don't you?
Unless you are a Georgia Bulldog. And you have to know if I had to pick a state right now to move to - it would be Georgia. And I would want to immediately have a Georgian accent. And my second favorite SEC team is Georgia and I really admire your coach. But I hope you still understand when I say I really hope we beat you tomorrow! :-)

To add to my razorback spirit - my sweet friend Robin brought me some of her amazing cookies this week. I mean it's still almost 90 degrees around here and my boots and sweaters are crying out to be worn - but this plate just screams "Hello Fall!" :-)
And how cute are these? I just got this cute flower pin for me to wear to the Bama game and a matching hair clip for Harper to wear. It came from HERE and I think she can do just about any school - not just razorbacks. But FYI - you would look cool sporting the hogs no matter what state (or country) you live in!

And this doesn't involve Hog spirit but more like getting in the baby spirit ......I went to visit my friend Jennifer in the hospital today. She just had baby Jillian and she is PRECIOUS! She was a 9 lb baby and so we have the bond of big baby girls! Doesn't Jennifer look great? How did she JUST have a baby?
Jillian's Aunt Jill (who by the way has the most perfect "poof") showed Harper the baby. Harper was NOT impressed. And then I held Jillian for a few minutes and Harper had a complete meltdown. Crying, turning red, reaching out for "momma". I'm not sure how we are going to do this in six months. She did however admire Jillian's "bow". (Which I've seen numerous pictures of Jillian since she was born less than 48 hours ago and she's had no less than 6 different bows on already). I told her dressing a little girl and putting bows in her hair NEVER GETS OLD! :-)

Happy Weekend and GO HOGS!

Show us your life - LIVING ROOMS

NEXT WEEK : MASTER BEDROOMS

So it's the FIRST week of "show us where you live" Friday! This week is living rooms!

I did "Show Us your life Fridays" all last year and took a break over the summer but we are starting back with home tours because so many of you asked for it! This was my favorite thing we did because I'm nosy and love to look at houses! I think it's a great way to get ideas and just get to know bloggers! Remember it's NOT about who has the biggest or best house but about being thankful for what we have and sharing it with each other! If you live in a dorm room or a small apartment - I would LOVE for you to share that! We can all get ideas and have fun!

My living room has not changed in a year so I'm recycling most of my old post here! :-)

This is my living room as you walk in from the front door
Looking in from the dining room. I like having the two couches facing each other - it makes for a good conversation set up. And before we had Harper - Scott and I each would lay on one of the couches and watch TV. Our rug came from Ballard Designs and is a indoor/outdoor rug which is SO practical. I could take it outside and hose it off if I needed to clean it. I can spill pretty much anything and it wipes right up - which is nice with a baby and a dog. And it was very cheap compared to most big area rugs.
This is our TV cabinet. I just loved it when we found it. I'm still not 100% satisfied with the things I have on display in the glass shelves ....But I'm working on it.
This is a sofa table my parents got me a couple of years ago that I love. It's sitting behind our couch and I love the decorations I have on here. My favorite things are these vases with the "fake" pears.
This is an old picture so the baby swing is no longer there (although it will be back soon) but everything else is the same! I got the zebra pillows at a sample sale from one of my friends who works for a company that sells pillows to Wal-Mart. I got them for $5 each and I love them.

This is looking at the chair where Scott normally resides. We just got a leather ottoman this winter and he spends most of his time there. The door to the left leads to the kitchen and the one on the right goes to our family room.
Another view from the back of the living room towards the dining room and front door

Okay - YOUR TURN

Remember the rules:
1. Please link to your post, not your blog. If you don't know how - just click on the title of your post once it's done and copy the url up in your browser and then paste it back here.
2. If you add your name but don't have a living room tour - I'll delete your link.
3. Just have fun!

HAPPY TOURING AND HAPPY WEEKEND!!!
