Sunday

I wanted to give you a little glimpse at my future Miss Arkansas!
These are the best pictures we have of her right now because we have to be careful not to stimulate her by touching her or talking too loud or using a flash. We will get a MILLION pictures of her once she gets good and healthy - but for now we just want her to get well.
We think she is the most precious thing we've ever seen. I love her so much. I just can't wait for the day I can hold her and sing to her and feed her and dress her and play with her!

I'm sorry we are just now getting an update to you. My parents and I got to Tulsa about 5 yesterday. We were immediately greeted by a sweet couple who live in the area and had read my blog and had been in our situation and just wanted to comfort us and let us know they were thinking of us - they brought us a big bag of snacks and magazines and necessities. We took their picture but I'm having technical difficulties. Kuykendalls - thank you so much! Our Sunday School teachers came and sat with Scott most of the day yesterday and brought us a lot of things to help us as well. That was such a comfort to Scott.
And then out popped my blog friend Caroline and her mother! They had driven from Dallas all the way to see me. I had always hoped we would meet in real life one day and never dreamed it would be this way but we were so blessed to have them come and it just gave us a HUGE lift. (I am SOOOOOOOOO swollen from all the fluids I was given and from crying for the last 2 days - so excuse the way I look) (not that it matters).
We have had SO many people who have read my blog and are in the area bring us flowers and letters and cards and just give us encouragment. You hopefully know who you are and I hope to thank you somehow. We are overwhelmed with the outreach of so many people. I haven't had a chance to read all of my comments and e-mails. I may not respond to you right now but I want you to know that we have cried a thousand tears over how much each and every word of encouragment and prayer has meant to us. Know that we are SO eternally grateful. We would never be able to bear this if we didn't know we were covered in prayer.

We are waiting to hear from the doctor today and I will let you know what he says. Right now she is still stable but in VERY critical condition. They think she could be having heart issues. We may have a very long road ahead of us but we believe that God is going to heal our baby and He is going to use her in a very mighty way. We know God says in the Bible that when two or more agree in His name - He will answer. And we know we have 2 or 3oo,ooo people praying for us. Our prayer is that all who pray for Harper will see God's might and power and His love in the miracle we know He is going to do for us.

We love you all - whether we know you or not. Please keep praying.

I remember when my boys were born and rushed to another hospital and when I finally got to see them all I saw were my precious boys . No tubes, no central lines, no vents just Gods gift to me. Harper may be off to a rough start but God has plans for her and she is so strong and he is so mighty. I just came across your blog yesterday and I'm so glad I did.
After 3 long weeks in the hospital my boys came home and are now very healthy 12 yr olds. I know Gods power and I am claiming it for Harper.
Congratulations, new mommy, your girl is beautiful!!

Dear Scott family,

Congratulations on your beautiful girl!! I found your blog a couple of months ago and have been so encouraged by it! I wanted to leave a comment because my son who is 16 will now share his 2nd birthday with Harper. He was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of leukemia and received his bone marrow transplant on the 16th. God has shown us the power of prayer through our sons journey with cancer and we were so happy to be able to pray for your family during the night while witnessing our own miracle because others have faithfully lifted our son up in prayer! God is SO Good!! We will continue to pray for Harper. The Lord has done great things for us, and we are filled with Joy!!!!!Psalm 126:3

What a beautiful little girl. We sang this song in church this morning:

Better is one day in your courts, better is one day in your house, better is one day in your courts than thousands elsewhere....

I am aching for you & praying for beautiful Harper (i cannot believe she was almost 10 lbs--so precious!!!) i have been keeping up w/you for a while now...um since, Dec. 2007. hee;). We are praying for strength & comfort & the dr's. I pray you & Scott are getting a little rest. I pray, too, all is well w/Dawson:). I know it's hard to be away from home & not have her in your arms....bless you. xoxo

She is so beautiful--and so are you. My prayer is that despite her serious condition, it turns out to be something similar to what my daughter had. We discussed heart surgery and all manner of things, then they discovered that it was a hole in her heart that would heal itself. And it did. God is holding you close. Take your pain meds--try to rest--eat good food. You need to keep up your strength.

Kelly she is such a doll! Our sermon in church this morning was about birth. Coencidence...not really, just God moving in his way. The 2 greatest miracles in life are the birth of a child and a spiritual re-birth. Harper is fearfully and wonderfully made. HE knew the numbers of hair on her head before she was formed, and HE will hold her through this all. She is one of his greatest works, all children are. You would be amazed at the network of families across the world HE has put in place as prayer warriors! It's amazing :) Still praying for you girl!

Kelly - I immediately thought of you all and your "storm" right now. Much love and prayers to you and your family.

A pastor had been on a long flight between church conferences. The first warning of the approaching problems came when the sign on the airplane flashed on: Fasten Your Seat Belts.

Then, after a while, a calm voice said, "We shall not be serving the beverages at this time as we are expecting a little turbulence. Please be sure your seat belt is fastened."

As the pastor looked around the aircraft, it became obvious that many of the passengers were becoming apprehensive.

Later, the voice on the intercom said, "We are so sorry that we are unable to serve the meal at this time. The turbulence is still ahead of us."

And then the storm broke . . .

The ominous cracks of thunder could be heard even above the roar of the engines. Lightning! lit up the darkening skies, and within moments that great plane was like a cork tossed around on a celestial ocean. One moment the airplane was lifted on terrific currents of air; the next, it dropped as it were about to crash.

The pastor confessed that he shared the discomfort and fear of those around him. He said, "As I looked around the plane, I could see that nearly all the passengers were upset and alarmed. Some were praying. The future seemed ominous and many were wondering if they would make it through the storm.

"Then, I suddenly saw a little girl. Apparently the storm meant nothing to her. She had tucked her feet beneath her as she sat on her seat; she was reading a book and every- thing within her small world was calm and orderly.

"Sometimes she closed her eyes, then she would read again; then she would straighten her legs, but worry and fear were not in her world.

When the plane was being buffeted by the terrible storm when it lurched this way and that, as it rose and fell with frightening
severity, when all the adults were scared half to death, that marvelous child was completely composed and unafraid." The minister could hardly believe his eyes.

It was not surprising therefore, that when the plane finally reached its destination and all the passengers were hurrying to disembark, our pastor lingered to speak to the girl whom he had watched for such a long time.

Having commented about the storm and the behavior of the plane, he asked why she had not been afraid.

The child replied, "Cause my Daddy's the pilot, and he's taking me home."

There are many kinds of storms that buffet us. Physical, mental, financial, domestic, and many other storms can easily and quickly darken our skies and throw our plane into apparently uncontrollable movement. We have all known such times, and let us be honest and confess, it is much easier to be at rest when our feet are on the ground than when we are being tossed about a darkened sky.

Let us remember: Our Father is the Pilot. He is in control and taking us home. Don't worry!

I linked to your blog through Angie Smith's blog and have been praying for Harper (& you and your family as well). Our son was born 10 weeks premature in 1995 - he was so tiny, had many complications & it was my first child. I know the heartache of longing to hold your baby but not being able to - of longing to take your baby home but not being able to (we didn't take him home for 5 weeks). God saw us through it though and He will be with you also! Know that many people love you and care and are praying for you! God will use others to show His amazing love for you! Bonnie in TN

It's wonderful to have a church family who really pulls together and sustains each other.

And you look beautiful--there is joy shining on your face, even in the midst of this trial and very scary situation--you look beautiful! It is so neat that so many people have shown up at the hospital to show support. Your life and your spirit just draw people to you--people who don't even know you can see and understand what a special person you are (that is true for your whole family!). We are thinking of you every second--constantly checking for updates/good news and praying continually for healing and strength. I believe Harper will soon be home with you and Scott (enjoying her 1,000 wardrobe changes per day! :) ha!) and you will move forward with all the excitement of being new parents! Until then...PRAYING FOR YOU AND THINKING OF YOU CONSTANTLY!!!! Thank you for sharing the pictures of her--it's so sweet to get to attach a picture in my mind with the prayers I'm sending up. Harper is so beautiful!!! I know you can't WAIT to hold her and snuggle her. My son, Parker, was born 4 weeks early and he was on a feeding tube and oxygen for almost a week. I wasn't allowed to hold him for 2 days and it killed me! Parker's condition wasn't as serious as Harper's but I got a glimpse of being a Momma to a a very sick baby and I know it's very scary. I added Harper and your family to our Sunday School's prayer list at FBCS. By the way, my Aunt and Uncle go to your church, Wyley and Stephanie Elliott. Good luck with everything and I'm thinking of you guys. I'll keep checking back.

It is comforting to remember that NOTHING can touch the child of God without His permission, and NOTHING is ever a surprise or problem for Him. All of us who claim Him as our Father cry out with one voice for His healing of your baby, knowing that HE will hear and respond to the plaintive cries of His children. We can only imagine the countless lives that have already been touched by this urgent call to faith! I can hardly wait to see what our Father will do as He shows Himself mighty on your behalf.

In Christ's love,

SO glad to see some pictures of little Harper. We have been praying and checking your blog to see how she's doing. My younger brother had open heart surgery when he was born. I was too young to know what was going on but my family has gone through something similar. Keep me informed. I couldn't sleep last night, kept thinking about Harper and how she was doing and if you were going to post today. I love you guys, even though I don't know you. You are family in Christ though. Bye!!!! :) :)

I came across your blog through Bring the Rain...and I haven't stopped praying for you guys since I first read the post.

My first son was born on January 8, 2009, under similar circumstances. Respiratory distress, emergency transfer to the NICU at St. Peter's here in the northwest. Had he not recovered over the next few days, he would have been sent to Children's in Seattle.

After a good deal of prayer, adjustments to what our original expectations were for delivery and 'life after', and an incredible medical team in the NICU, God blessed us with 6 days in the NICU and then home to recover as a family.

We will be praying for Harper and your family constantly as you walk this road...even as we are only bonded by this experience.

Praying for peace and strength!

This morning during our church service My mind kept wondering back to yall. My prayers have not ceased and my faith has grown by leaps and bounds! My family knows you by name now, smile. My youngest, Madison has started asking about Harper on a regular basis now. My hearts just overflows when I hear her little prayers for Harper. She left a comment and I wanted to correct her mispelled words but I didnt. I couldnt. I think God holds childrens prayers very close to His heart. Harper is just beautiful... I knew it. You look just as beautiful... a very proud Momma. I can now say I have fallen in love with your little family. It's an honor to be one of your prayer warriors~

Oh, Kelly, she IS beautiful! She is absolutely one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen! Having prayed for her before she was even conceived, and then all throughout your pregnancy with her, I just love her, Kelly. I am so thankful to read she is stable. I worked last night at the hospital and kept checking for an update. We are praying down here hard, hard, hard, and we are not stopping. Everyone I come across, I'm asking them to pray! This little lamb has people praying for her that she'll never know about. When you told us she weighed 9 lbs 12 oz, I just figured it was because she was stuffed full of prayers! :o) Bless her baby doll heart! I cannot wait to see what our gracious Heavenly Father has in His awesome plans for her, plans that are unique to her. Please remember to take care of yourself, Kelly, and same to Scott. We love y'all, and we're praying without ceasing.

Oh Kelly...she is gorgeous!!!!!!!!! Just beautiful. She has the dark hair you were hoping for =-).
I look at her pictures, and I just see so much BEAUTY.

I can not imagine how it must feel to see your baby laying there and not be able to hold her...especially when you have waited so long to do just that.
My sister Amanda commented earlier, my little niece had heart surgery when she was born at 26 weeks and weighed 1 pound 11 ounces. Today, at 16 months, she has more spunk than I do in my little pinky finger!!!!!!
May God continue to breathe into sweet Harper's lungs, give the doctors wisdom, and surround you and your family with His love through the Family of God.

Our entire Sunday School class lifted you and Harper (and Jenna and Brayden) up by name this morning, and promised to continue in prayer for you.

I hope I speak for everyone here when I say don't worry about emailing or commenting back to us, you just take care of your daughter and yourself, and soak up the love and prayers...

MUCH love,
kendra

You don't know me, but I have empathy for your situation. My son spent 2 and 1/2 months in a NICU in Virginia last year with several complications but is now a healthy boy.
