GOOD MORNING!!!!!

UPDATE:
Our wonderful doctor just came out and talked to us and talked to us about her oxygen going down. He said she has to get to 40% before they could start taking her nitrate down (but he acted like that could happen in the next few days) and he said then they could possibly start waking her up. I may get to see my baby's eyes VERY soon!!!!!!! I can't wait for the day she looks at me and Scott and knows we are her parents!!!
This has been such a wonderful day and it's not even noon!!! :-) Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you for praying for Harper!

I will be honest - I had a hard day yesterday. I think all the time in the hospital had started to catch up with me and looking at my baby still on 100% oxygen was really scaring me. I worried she would never breathe on her own. I worried we would never take her home. It could be the hormones - but I just was very very sad yesterday even though I've tried so hard to be positive. I normally always see the glass half full and the silver lining in everything.

We were so glad when we left last night and Harper was at 95% oxygen. I prayed all night long as often as I could that when we got to the hospital this morning - she would still be at 95% but deep in my heart I worried that she wouldn't be.

God knows just when we need a little encouragment. We got here this morning and she was at 80% oxygen!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't believe it. (I think it was the bow that made her feel pretty and she wanted to try harder to get home so she could put on some dresses)Ha! A few minutes ago - they had her at 77%. I can't even begin to tell you how huge and amazing that is to us. To God be the Glory Great things He has done!!!!

We know it could still be a long road but we are so thankful for the blessings of today! Thank you for your prayers - we are in gratitude to you forever!!!! We love all of you SOOOOOO much - we will meet you and thank you in heaven if we don't get to here!!!!

P.S. If you are worried about Dawson - you can read here and see he is JUST fine. I don't think he'll want to come back and live with us. (Especially when he finds out he has to share his home with a spoiled baby girl).

More people than you even know are praying for Harper, Scott and you. I have come to know you through your blog, which I linked to via Jill's blog (Eli's mom--we are family friends)...and I have to say, I am amazed at how wonderful you OBU girls are, how in everyday life you are seeking God's face. It's tough in the tough times to remain up all the times but this is when God will cradle you and let you rest and regroup. Harper is beautiful. That's really an understatement...she's very precious indeed.

Isn't in unreal how satan attacks with discouragement right before God is about to do something MIGHTY?!

Praise God for what He has done! I was specifically praying last night that Harper's levels would be taken down to 80% ... and just keep going down from there. God is SO good! I have also been praying that Harper wouldn't have to do ECMO and am trusting God for this. I will continue to lift you, your family, and Harper up in prayer!

What a wonderful day!

I am praying for you and Harper and for the wisdom for the doctors and nurses. I have been there, with a critically ill baby. Take care of yourself--it is hard. It is hard to wake yourself up to pump in the middle of the night when you don't have a baby to snuggle. It is hard to have others be the primary caregivers. God carried me and my family through it all. I kept a gratitude journal through the pregnancy (we discovered at 20 weeks pregnant that Mason had a rare heart defect) and through those challenging days and it was transforming--to focus on small positives. Eight years later I still find comfort rereading those little things that I found to be grateful for. god is holding you all--lean into him for strength and comfort!

Kelly, your spirit is a bright light even through a blog. I am blessed to have the honor of reading it and praying for your sweet baby girl. harper stays in my thoughts even though I have never met her.

Although I live in Illinois I am a Razorback through and through and we Razor girls are tough. Have faith that soon you will be hearing a delicate little "WOO PIG!" ring out all over your house.

I trust in a fabulous God that laughs in the joy of his children, and He surely wants to not only laugh, but dance with you as you get to see your daughter's eyes looking at her Mommy and Daddy.

My prayers continue for you, Harper, and all involved in this time of your lives.

I am following you on twitter and have set my notices to ring through to my cell. At any time if you need extra prayer, twitter away.

God loves you!

I am crying as I type this post I remember what you are feeling. I had a baby born with a pneumothorax in each lung (a hole) and needed oxygen and everything your little Harper is on. He also was taken to another hospital an hour and a half away for a whole month. His holes did seal up and he is 7 years old now and just has a little touch of asthma, he takes one medication a day for it. I tell you that so you can have HOPE, HOPE that my God healed my son and that my God will heal your
little girl too. Hang in there, I was so glad you got some good news today. Mommas need that especially with the hormones getting back to normal. I cried for 6 or 7 days it seemed like. I hope you can get some rest so your body can heal and you can take care of little Harper.Just know that I am a mother in Indiana who understands personally what you are going through and praying like crazy for your daughter and you and your husband. Hang in there.

Oh my goodness! I just found your blog through another blog that had commented on another blog.

Your posts have just had me in tears!!! I am the mother of a 15 year old who was born with only 1/2 a heart. I never had any complications while pregnant, and there was no indication that there was anything wrong with him.

My heart cries out for you and your husband and your precious baby girl. I have spent SO much time in the hospital with my Caleb. And I was a single mom for the first 10 years of his life!

I'm sure you've heard all the encouraging words over and over. I don't know how much more I can say, except that I'm SO glad that you are a believer! God IS sovereign, and He knew this would happen long before Harper was even a twinkle in your eyes. He loved her then, and He loves her now; even more than anyone on this earth loves her.

Sometimes it's hard to see how "all things can work together for good" when you're in the middle of such heartache. Looking back, I can so see how God worked in my life and in my son's life. My husband also had a baby girl who was born with 1/2 a heart, and she only lived for two weeks. God used her life and death to bring hubby to Christ.

He used Caleb's heart problems and resulting strokes as a way to bring me back to Him, after living a lifestyle that was not pleasing to Him. Caleb is a "special needs" kid now, but he is such a blessing, and God has amazing plans for him.

If EVER you need to, PLEASE feel free to contact me. I will even give you my phone number. Even if it's just to pray...or to cry...or because you need to talk. I would LOVE to have the honor of praying with and for you and your family. I will share this with my husband, and as a family, we will be praying for your sweet baby girl, and for your family. I KNOW how it can affect you all.

God bless you!

In Christ's love,
Angie

As a former NICU mom (a two month stint) and student nurse (a result of my experience), my heart, love, and prayers are with your family. Though the road is a difficult one, the blessings come at every turn. Emotions run their own course as they please--just let it happen, because it comes from your heart, your love. You are an amazing and beautiful family with a beautiful gift, (correction--a gorgeous gift) from heaven. If only every child could feel the same love that we all know you have for your child...it's palpable. Our prayers continue for your family and the dedicated staff. Big Hugs from Massachusetts.

Kelly,

I'm glad you are having a better day. NICU stays are marathon's not sprints, and they are draining anyway you look at it. What a roller coaster ride they can be!

I love your joy over Harper's bow!!! I can relate. When the NICU nurses put a bow in my daughter's hair when she was 4 days old I was tickled pink. That's all I cared about that morning was getting a picture of my precious daughter with a bow in her hair. The nurses must have thought I was the most superficial and shallow mom there (I truly am not-lol)as they were prepping her to have heart surgery that morning. But it was just SO important to me to see her with a bow in her hair. It really made the wires, tubes and IV fade out of view and she looked like a BABY GIRL! All I wanted was that picture to share with all the friends and family who couldn't be with us to show off proudly my little girl.

Here's a link if you want to see the pic of my daughter with a bow in her hair. I hope you get a little hope from our story. God truly has worked miracles in our lives.

By the way, I'm Kendra's (Miracle of the Momment) sister. I've been following your blog for the last few months. I love your enthusiasm. Your dad is an amazing writer as well!

Still praying!

It's so amazing to see you smiling so bravely next to your beautiful baby girl even though you must be hurting so much inside, just wishing you could hold and rock her by her crib at HOME with Dawson hanging out at your feet!! Praying that will happen VERY SOON!!! My faith has grown so much from reading about yours and the love of all who are holding you up in prayer and love!

I came across your blog from a friend of a friends blog........isn't that how it goes in blog land? :)
I have two NICU graduates that had a long rough road, but I'm happy to say that by the grace and mercy of God they are healthy and hearty boys today. One is 5 and the other is 4. I don't know how people go through times like this with out their faith. God was and is our rock! I have prayed for Harper and will continue to do so. Keep trusting in HIM!
