GOOD MORNING!!!!!

UPDATE:
Our wonderful doctor just came out and talked to us and talked to us about her oxygen going down. He said she has to get to 40% before they could start taking her nitrate down (but he acted like that could happen in the next few days) and he said then they could possibly start waking her up. I may get to see my baby's eyes VERY soon!!!!!!! I can't wait for the day she looks at me and Scott and knows we are her parents!!!
This has been such a wonderful day and it's not even noon!!! :-) Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you for praying for Harper!

I will be honest - I had a hard day yesterday. I think all the time in the hospital had started to catch up with me and looking at my baby still on 100% oxygen was really scaring me. I worried she would never breathe on her own. I worried we would never take her home. It could be the hormones - but I just was very very sad yesterday even though I've tried so hard to be positive. I normally always see the glass half full and the silver lining in everything.

We were so glad when we left last night and Harper was at 95% oxygen. I prayed all night long as often as I could that when we got to the hospital this morning - she would still be at 95% but deep in my heart I worried that she wouldn't be.

God knows just when we need a little encouragment. We got here this morning and she was at 80% oxygen!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't believe it. (I think it was the bow that made her feel pretty and she wanted to try harder to get home so she could put on some dresses)Ha! A few minutes ago - they had her at 77%. I can't even begin to tell you how huge and amazing that is to us. To God be the Glory Great things He has done!!!!

We know it could still be a long road but we are so thankful for the blessings of today! Thank you for your prayers - we are in gratitude to you forever!!!! We love all of you SOOOOOO much - we will meet you and thank you in heaven if we don't get to here!!!!

P.S. If you are worried about Dawson - you can read here and see he is JUST fine. I don't think he'll want to come back and live with us. (Especially when he finds out he has to share his home with a spoiled baby girl).

You will find that normally when they turn that corner, they fly to finish line. And I think you are right about that bow. There's nothing a like a good hair day to put a little pep in a girl's step. My baby girl was hooked up to lines and gold metal hearts and blood pressure monitors and crevage tubes for 6 very long days, but when she got well, she got well in a hurry--5 days ahead of schedule in her case.

Lots of prayer and really cute bows must be the answer.

I found your blog through Audrey Caroline's. Just wanted to let you know that I've been praying for you. I thought I'd share my story. My husband and I prayed for a child for a long time and after 3 years of fertility treatments, I became pregnant with triplets. Sadly, I miscarried Baby B at around 8 weeks. My twin pregnancy continued on until I went into preterm labor and delivered my twins at 23 weeks, 1 day. My daughter, Olivia, weighed 1 lb 1.5 oz and was 11.5 inches long. My son, Logan, weighed 1 lb 1.75 oz and was 11.5 inches long. I was only able to spend 1 month, 1day with my son before God called him home. It was a very difficult time for me. My daughter was in the NICU for 105 days before coming home Dec 10, 2007 (just in time for Christmas.) She was only given a 30% chance of survival and a 90% chance of a major disability. She is now over a year old and thriving. Miracles happen all of the time and it sounds like sweet Harper is fighting hard. You'll remain in my prayers.

Jennifer said...

Yay! Bring on the big bows and she might really drop the oxygen level!!Haha!! I prayed for 95, but 77 is soooo much better!

Kelly,
I've read your blog for a short time and this is my first comment.
My son Benjamin was born in April. We didn't expect any complications, but they told us an hour after he was born that he has Down syndrome and two heart defects. Unlike Harper, though, he did not have to spend any time in the NICU, so for that we were thankful. But we had to deal with all the emotions of "losing" the child we expected and being completely uncertain as to what the future held. We put on a brave face and welcomed visitors with open arms. We loved their notes, their food (!), their prayers, and their tears.
But then it just started to wear on us. Especially me. I wasn't getting much sleep and was recovering from my second C-section (we have an older son). Don't be afraid to take a break! Don't be ashamed to be alone or to tell people, "I need some time--please no visitors today." Take time to spend just in prayer and quiet. It will refresh you so much.
We're continuing to pray for you and checking for updates more-than-daily. ;)

That is fabulous news!! The NICU is a bizarre experience to say the least. All the buzzers, and cords, and sensors. I have twins who spent time in the NICU. I remember saying, "They have to let them out to go to kindergarten, right?" I am so happy for you about the oxygen!!

I left you a comment for the first time the other day, I read your blog this morning and wanted to cry...tears of joy though. I'm so sorry you had such a rough day yesterday. I pray everyday all day when I think of you and your family that baby Harper will get better and you can take her home soon. Still praying for you and your family. God Bless!

Praise God!!! It feels so good to just look to heaven and sing praises to God. Kelly, please know that Mike and I are still praying fervently for Harper and for all of you. God is working in the hearts of all of us who are praying for that baby girl. This may be the revival that so many of us needed. Thank you, Baby Harper, for opening our eyes and reminding us of the power of our Lord and Savior Jesus.

Hi Kelly,

I came over from Angie's blog. I have been praying for Harper every day. I was reading Psalm 84 last night and prayed He would bring you from strength to strength( vs 7). Thank God you have Him to lean on. Praying your baby girl home!

That is wonderful news, Kelly! I am still praying and praying for the day you get to scoop her up and snuggle her in your arms. I read about Dawson's adventures last night on your Dad's blog and was glad to see he was okay too. God knew exactly what you needed, and he's answering our prayers for little Harper. She's so loved by all of us and each day I pray that God will give you strength. I know that sometimes it is so hard to have to sit and wait. You and your family are doing wonderful things in that hospital, I hear! What a blessing your presence must be to all of the families and babies there. What an incredible story this is turning out to be for Harper. Thank you for sharing the hope of God's love and the power of prayer with me.

Praise THE LORD!!! I can't read your's or your dad's blog without bawling! I can't wait to see what God has in store for Harper's life. So far, she's impacting thousands and hasn't spoken a word. Did anyone tell you that the fifth day after birth is emotionally CRAZY??? My midwife told me that little tidbit with my first child. Good thing she did or I would've thought I was losing my mind. It's all about those crazy hormones and your body adjusting. Hang in there, you will feel normal again. I am continuing to pray for Harper's healing!!

That is amazing news! praise the LORD! All of those prayers are working. It is okay to have a hard day every now and then. I think it draws us closer to the Lord...even if we are optimists. I also know from my own deliveries that I was very emotional 3-5 days after giving birth. Get some rest too, Kelly. You will need it when you get that gorgeous bow wearing girl home!

I sort of stumbled upon your blog from another blog I read here in Pittsburgh, the blog in Pittsburgh asked for prayers and had this link. I have to tell you I have struggled with reading it, because it TRULY broke my heart. You and your entire family are extremely strong people, and should be recognized for it! I think of your baby girl often and I was so happy to read this positive post. My son spent just 34 hours in the NICU and it was a very hard time for myself and my husband, and I can't even imagine what you are going through. Keep staying positive, and you will be in our thoughts. I cant wait for the day I read a post that says your taking your lil girl home with you. Congratulations on your new baby girl, and congratulations on less oxygen!!!

Yea....its a Harpers day after all, after all, after all. Its a Harper's day after all, in the name of Jesus.

You have to sing it to the tune of "its a small world" and the last line as if its the last line of "happy birthday" song. LOL

I couldn't resist.... I am just so joyful of the good update.

Yea Harper!!!

PS: I liked the bow too and I would feel sassy and want to speed things up so I could go and put on my pretty dresses to match it.

Soon baby girl, soon. .

My heart is smiling right now and I am so excited for all of you. This news is WONDERFUL and yes, God is good all the time!

I am sure Miss Harper is ready to open her little eyes and see her Mommy & Daddy and who all these sweet people are that are cheering her on. That day is near by, I know in my hart that it will happen very soon.

I could not help but laugh when I read your Daddy's post this morning about Dawson. I was feeling a little sad for him at first until I saw him all comfy in the big brown chair and read that he was going to get to sleep with his Granddad!

Kelly ~ we continue to lift you, Scott, Harper, all of your family, the Drs. and Nurses up in prayer daily (many times a day). I can not tell you how many times a day that all of your cross my mind.

I too can not wait to see Harper in all those bows and monogrammed dresses. She is so beautiful!

Praying that your spirits are lifted today and all the days ahead!

I haven't been in your shoes, with a baby in NICU, but I have had three children and around the fourth day after giving birth, there was major emotions! I know it's got to be hard to take care of yourself in this situation, but please try to take time to rest. We're all here still praying! We love you! And Dawson, your dad is too cute with his post about him. Daw
