Sunday NIght

Here are a few more pics of our girl and we wanted to give another quick update
We don't know who she looks like - we think maybe Scott with my coloring!

We got a good update today. Luckily I didn't know this until later today - but our nurse told my parents that she went home last night worried Harper wouldn't make it through the night. She's given us very grim updates but today she actually smiled (she's a really nice nurse - just serious) and said she was doing much better. Her heart rate has gone down and her blood pressure has gone up - two HUGE praises! They are worried about her heart but they can't look at it until she is off the lung machines. So we are praying her heart is fine. I woke up this morning just feeling sick and Scott and I cried and pleaded with God to save our baby and tonight we are leaving the hospital feeling so hopeful. We feel SO covered in prayer. Our pastor called us several times today and prayed with us and we know our church has been praying for us as well as all of you!
We had a lot of visitors today again. One of them was this sweet 14 year old girl MacKenzie and her mom. MacKenzie reads my blog and wanted to come and give Harper this precious pearl bracelet. What a sweet blessing!
Laurie and Steve came today and brought us so many blessings from our Sunday School class. It meant so much to have them here. My brother and sister-in-law just got here from Dallas and we were so happy to see them.

Thank you again for your prayers - they are working!!!!!!! We have no doubt that Harper is a direct result of God hearing prayers! I am very limited to computer use so I am sorry again for not responding to so many of you - just know you have blessed us incredibly!

Kelly, this is the first time I have commented, but God has led me to leave one. I couldn't wait to get to work this morning to see an update and pictures of Miss Harper. I have been sitting here crying this morning, praying to God that everything will be okay for you. I know you realize how many people that you influence. I just wanted you to know that you have influenced me and my walk with God over the past year. I hope and pray that Miss Harper will pull through this. She's just beautiful.

Kelly, I have been following you for only about a month, but always loved pulling up your blog. I was never so shocked to here of the complications that are going on but I stopped right then and prayed for you and Harper. She is beautiful. The Lord is shining his grace down to you right now. My daughter is pregnant and due the end of Feb. We know that there is a problem with his little heart, his name is Nathan, but there are people all around praying for him already, but we know the Lord is in control and he is the Miracle Worker! You will be in my prayers always and I look forward to great updates. Debbie

Praise God from whom all blessings flow! I have been praying for Harper ever since I first read that she was sick. God has held your hand this far, He will not let go of you now. I want to share a verse with you that was a favorite of a friend who just passed away this week.

"For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39

I hope that verse increases your faith and confidence in the Lord like it did for me. Love you all!

Dear Kelly,
I cannot believe how many times I have hit the refresh button since Friday-waiting for every little update on that absolutely gorgeous little girl of yours ( i think she looks a bit like Scott but believe me this will keep changing-kids do that). I am praying so hard for you and Harper that tears flow......
I just want to fast forward through all of this until we see the pictures of Harper in her room or in your arms. I cry when I see these pics of her. I am so thankful you keep updating us all- I just wish I could do something to help...i feel so helpless. I am sending all my prayers to you and Harper and your family. I hope you are doing well....childbirth with a baby that large is really a toll on your body....please take good care of yourself.
Love to you all.

Please place Your hands on the doctors and nurses, providing them wisdom in treating this precious baby girl. We trust in Your power, O Lord. It's in your Holy name we pray - Amen.

Kelly & Scott,

I found your story through Big Mama's blog and it immediately touched me. My daughter was in the NICU for the first 9.5 weeks of her life. She was premature and had trouble remembering to breath.

I understand how confusing, frustrating and scary this all is. I also know how amazing God is. He has orchestrated every nurse and every doctor in place even before Harper was born.

I'm prayer for you, for Harper and for the medical staff.

In His perfect love,
Kelly

She is absolutely gorgeous! I want you to know I have a sense of what your going through... I had my son Coen in May of 2007, I went through 13 hours and 46 minutes of labor, when he was delivered the doctor pulled too hard on his head/neck area, causing shoulder displacia and a punctured right lung- He was taken down to ICU and put on monitors, breathing tubes, sugar water/ vitamins through his belly button, like Harper's it looks like? I have tons of FAITH she will pull through! I know it is SO hard, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your husband and that sweet baby girl Harper! Also all your family! I pray for a speedy recovery! God bless you!!!

I just found your blog but almost 3 years ago I had my son and although he was term he was born having problems breathing. His lungs were severely immature and we were on a similar roller coaster. We were definitely candidates for ECMO but God stepped in and they found another treatment that worked (nitric oxide). I am so happy to report that today my son is a healthy little boy and God will get all of the credit. 55 days after he was born he came home and has been healthy.
You definitely have my prayers and it is so wonderful to have friends to walk through this with you...get all of the love and support you need...
I found a group of people on March of dimes on their NICU community that gave me hope and advice.
I hope you know you are loved by even strangers.
Praying for lots of great days for you and your baby.

my little boy who is now four months old was in the nicu at st. vincents for 7 days. they were the longest days of my life. the nurses were VERY guarded about his condition. rarely giving good news. i learned later it's because they don't want to get your hopes up. this was incredibly hard for me to deal with.

i went to ouachita, and found your blog through some other friends of mines' blogs. i'm praying for you and harper constantly.

much love your way. i KNOW you will be home soon with her.

LeighAnne Gregory said...

I know you do not know me but I found your story through Jaime Elmore's blogspot. I prayed a special prayer for Harper last night. She is a beautiful baby. Take every bit of help you can. NEVER TURN DOWN A BLESSING. even if it's just a walk down the hallway with someone to clear your mind. When my son was in the NICU we had a picture ( if you would call it that) made that hung on his IV pole that said " And He took the children in his arms put His hands on them and blessed them" And everyday you just have to believe that God's holding your sweet baby til it's your turn. When " Set Backs" came our way we just held on to our Faith and knew God is in control. Sometimes it's not much comfort when you feel like that child should have gotten to come home with you and now it is at the NICU with someone else caring for them. But just remember everyday is a day closer to the day she will get to go home. Even if you don't know when it will be it is one day closer than yesterday. They say God never puts on you what you can't handle but when it was me I couldn't believe he thought I was that strong. He had more faith in me than I did. But we made it through. I pray that God will give the doctors the answers they need to get your little Angel well and that He gives you enough strenght to hold up til then.

I just stumbled upon your blog and want you to know I am praying for you and your precious little one. My son is 10 months old, and I can't imagine going through all that you've already had to go through in these first few days. Come what may, our God is good.

May the Lord bless you, cause His face to shine upon you, and give you peace,

Kelly & Scott,

I'm sitting here talking to my amazing, and challenging, 17 year old who was in the NICU in Gainesville with many of the same problems that Harper has. We still kid her about having had her first credit card (for hospital charges), being in the tanning bed (under the bili lights because of jaundice) and riding in a helicopter before she was two days old! God will continue to bless you each and every day of your life! We are praying for you!

Dear Lord,
We are praying now for your healing hand over baby Harper and for her parents during this trying time. Lord we don't always understand why things happen; we don't understand why children must suffer, but we trust you and know that you have a plan. Dear Lord please heal Harper and let her go home with her parents very soon. She is so loved and her presence is needed on this earth. We love you Lord and we know that you still perform miracles here on earth; please let this be one of them. In your son's name, Amen.

She is gorgeous! Prayers still coming from Georgia! We sort of have a posse here, they all joined our journey almost 2 years ago. We had a 1 pound 15 ounce baby boy who is now completely healthy with no life long problems, take about a miracle! We dispatched them to storm the gates on Harper's behalf.

Blessings to you,
Holly

Hey Kelly and Scott ,
This is Randee from TX. And I was just looking at the new Photos of Little Miss. Harper... And, I saw a Goldish looking heart shaped sticker on her little Tummy... What is that there for?

Amy said...

Hi Scott and Kelly -

You know, in most situations when people chime in with their stories about how their situation is exactly like mine, or they know what I'm going through, it just makes me feel like they couldn't possibly. That their saying that just shows that they don't really understand.

But I have one glaring exception to that and it was the time my son was in the NICU. At that time I have to say that every person who told me they had had a sick child who was now a healthy happy child completely warmed my heart and gave me hope.

I hope I can pay it forward a bit and be that hope for you now.

I can't quite tell from your blog what the actual diagnosis for Harper is. But so many of the details of our story appear to be the same. Healthy pregnancy, full term (overdue!), fairly normal labor, and then it just all fell apart when my son was born.

There were many days of praying, and a lot of worried looks on doctor's faces. Lots of bad statistics. And lots and lots of tears, and fears.

Like you, I can remember looking at my seemingly enormous child next to all the premies in then NICU. I was grateful he had all that body to fight off his lung infection. To work with the challenges his heart struggled with.

And, then there's the happy ending. We had a very joyous ending. 16 days in the NICU followed by the past 3.5 years of fun laughter and health. I wish you all best in getting your happy ending too.

Thinking of you.

Praying for sweet Harper and praising God for how far He has brought her as of today. Take care of yourself. I remember that about day 4 was when the baby blues kicked in, so with all your added stress, don't be taken back by it, it goes away. Harper is absolutely beautiful. I love her name and if I ever have anymore babies, a girl will be named Harper (our last name is Collins...my two children are Harrison and Hayden (a girl). I hesitate because she will bear the name of a publishing company...but I think it's beautiful.

You are wise to be getting your rest and not "living" at the hospital day and night. They will take good care of your baby girl.

Prayers and hugs to you all.

I heard about your family through a Facebook friend, and immediately went to your blog site and began praying for sweet Harper's full recovery. I also checked out your Dad's blog through the link on your site (when you posted about Harper's crib). It is beautiful, by the way, and hopefully she will be home to use it in the near future! Glad to hear the news from your dad's blog that y'all had an encouraging report from the doctor today. Hang in there! I will be praying!

I just heard about your story and I wanted you all to know that we are here in NY praying for you. Yesterday was my 49th birthday. I want you to know that because I was born in 1960 (medical knowledge nowhere near as good as it is today) and I was born with pneumonia, both lungs in bad shape. Luckily, the medical world is much greater and God will watch over your blessing. Joanne ~~ glamourgirljoanne@yahoo.com

Kelli...i found your blog thru Big MAMA. Loads of prayers from here on the Illinois River. If your baby has to be in a hospital NICU St Francis is supposed to be the best in the region. Our first was born there, it was a fabulous hospital.

Bless you and your family

Kelly, I do not know you personally but found you through three blog sites. I will be praying for your little girl. My little one Alyssa just got out of Children's yesterday fever and rash. Yes Children's is booked solid, we were put on the rehab floor, which I liked because my bestfriend's son is on that floor as well, so I was able to check on him often when I had relief.
