Pretty Woman

I'll do a better update later today but for now - I just HAD to share these pictures!!!!

I know she's mine - but oh my word I love her!!! They have spent all morning trying to get a PICC line in (it's a semi-permanent thing they put in to put all her IV's in so they don't have to constantly stick her.) They tried a ton of places and couldn't get it in (they even had to shave her head in two places to try to put it there). But that's okay - we have so many hats and head bands to cover up those shaved spots. I took a sweet hat in and I knew it would make her feel better. She was so alert - looking around at us.
Her little eyes are pretty blue right now but we know they could turn dark by summer. I really don't care either way but I think she looks just gorgeous either way.

Pray they can get her PICC line in - they will probably try again tomorrow. Other than that - she continues to do really well. They are going to let her rest tomorrow from all tests and procedures (except the PICC).

We are ICED IN big time here at the hospital. It is a mess outside - but we are so glad to be so close to the hospital where it's warm and we can spend time with our little sweetie!!!

P.S. I just wanted to add that our sweet girl is OFF her nitrate Oxide (I don't even know what that means except it's GOOD) and she is down to 26% oxygen!!) She will get to start feeding tomorrow or Thursday! She's a Stamps - she won't have ANY trouble eating!!
Also - ya'll are wearing the nurses out with all the mail and packages we have been getting!!!!! Thank you for all the sweet cards and gifts!!! I'm not going to put them on here today but you have thank yous coming - I promise!!!!!

I love you all for loving Harper so much!

Kelly,

I know that we don't know one another, but I felt led to leave you a comment from one Christian mother to another. I will most definitely be lifting your little girl, Harper, up in prayer daily. As a mother, I cannont fathom the emotional roller coaster that you and your family have been on for the past few weeks. But, PRAISE BE TO GOD, that we can seek refuge in HIM during the midst of the storm. I look forward to reading your posts on her improvement and the day when you have pictures of her not being dependent on oxygen and you and your husband are able to take her home with you for the first time. I hope that you are able to feel the prayers on behalf of your little angel from all the way here in Southern Alabama!

PRAISE GOD FROM WHOM ALL BLESSINGS FLOW!

What an inspiration you are to all mothers. Your Christianity and positive attitude shines in all of your posts. Harper is a beautiful baby. I cannot wait until you get her home and hold her in your arms. There is nothing that can compare with cuddling your baby in your arms. I know, because thirty-one years ago today I gave birth to my beautiful baby girl. And as a bonus today I found out that I my first grandbaby is going to be a girl. Baby girls are such a blessing.

I cannot help but to cry when I saw her eyes open. What an amazing little girl!

This is such a beautiful sight- her eyes are bright and full of life! I bet today has felt like the first "meeting" looking into her eyes and making that bond. Her eyes are beautiful and her hats are just precious! I am a Pedi PICC nurse- and not to defend the work they are doing- but it is a skill that has good and bad days "getting them in"!! I will pray that tomorrow will bring a perfect PICC placement, and baby Harper will be free of sooo many needle sticks!! I am thrilled with her progress- NO MORE NITROUS OX and 24%O2- Praises for continued healing! Stay warm and cozy up with your girl...I pray you get to hold her very soon!! Take care.
Love, Wendy Leonard

Okay, that bow is TOO cute!! I work in the NICU pretty frequently in Chicago, so hearing your update today really made my heart happy! Off the NO and down to 26% is huge! And since she was a full term baby, the chances of her having any trouble with her fees are very slim. Miss Harper is getting there, and we're all thrilled!! I'll continue to pray as I have been. The comments made here are simply amazing and I'm so glad that blogging has found you love and support during these turbulent times!!

Kelly, I just love seeing her big 'ol blue eyes! My daughter, Sophia (4 y.o.) was begging to look at Harper's pictures today and kept asking if there was a video of her up. I told her there wasn't, but she wouldn't believe me! She just loves getting updates on Harper as much as I do and gets so excited to see her doing better. We'll be praying about that PICC line and that feedings go well once you start those! Take care,
