Fashion Designers and Swim Lessons

Every year the third grade does a Wax Museum.  The kids are all famous Arkansans.  This is a way they learn Arkansas History.  They had to research their person and put together a poster and presentation and then they did it for the school and that night for the parents.  It was fun to see all the famous people from our state - everyone from Bill Clinton to Johnny Cash to Douglas MacArthur to Jerry Jones to Sam Walton.  Harper was Korto Momolu.  She lives in Little Rock and was a runner up on Project Runway.  She also designed the uniforms for Crystal Bridges.  Harper was so excited to be her! (And the sweetest thing is I put this on Instagram and Korto commented! It made Harper's night - she was thrilled!)

I can hardly believe this girl is headed to 4th grade! She's so grown up lately.

Our Bible Study gave us a free mothers day out on Tuesday - what a gift! I'm trying to get as much as I can done this week and next before I have three months with kids home 24/7.  ha! I'm excited to have them home but I also know there won't be much kid free time this summer to run errands or clean house.  I will have a clean house one day -right?

We started swim lessons on Tuesday.  Harper isn't taking - she is just swimming while the other two learn.  She's a great swimmer.  Will Holden screamed for the first 15 minutes and laughed the last 15 minutes.  That's pretty much life with him. ha!

We are headed to the beach in a few weeks and we can't wait! We go to Perdido Key and we love it there! You can read some of our past posts on the beach if you want to see some of our favorite places to go!

Will Holden had an ice cream party at school today! He was so excited.  He's had such a turn around at school this year.  He has a lot of separation anxiety and it would take four teachers to take him in at the beginning of school and now he runs in and says " I LOVE school!" when we pull up.  It's just been SO good for him! He adores his teachers.  He kisses their hands when they hold his.  And he tells me he loves them.  What a blessing!

We have a field trip and field day to wind up the rest of our week and then the girls and I are headed on a mother daughter retreat this weekend and I'm so excited!

Weekend Roundup

Our area just had a new children's hospital open.  It was WAY overdue.  Our beloved audiologist in Little Rock cut back on working so it was a good time for us to switch to one in NWA.  We have checkups twice a year and we had one on Friday.

It's crazy how mature and great Harper is at her appointments now.  We had a great appointment and her hearing hasn't changed in a year so we were thrilled with that news.  Our new audiologist was very nice!

The new hospital is beautiful.  We are so thankful that all the kids in our area don't have to travel over 3 hours for visits anymore.

I took Harper to our favorite pizza place in Fayetteville for lunch to celebrate a good report!

She is always talking about how she would like to get macaroons.  (Or macarons - I have no idea which to say but I've never heard anyone say macarons).  Anyway - there is the most beautiful shop in Fayetteville so I took her for a treat after lunch.  She was thrilled.

It is so rare for me to get one on one time with this girl and it's so precious to me.  She's growing up before my eyes and she is so kind and thoughtful.

Friday night found us playing in the back yard for hours.  Eating tiny ice cream cones and jumping on the trampoline.  I love this time of the year when we stay outside until dark.

Saturday Hollis had a tournament game.  We were hoping to win and get in the finals but the team we played seem to be professional.  ha! The coach and his daughter were European and they must have started soccer in the womb. ha! They CREAMED us.  But we had a great season and Hollis did so well.  She really liked it and I hope she will stick with it.

Her best friend Kampbell was playing one field over.  Her team lost too so it was a disappointing day.

It was a hot and beautiful day.  Hollis' soccer team had a celebration lunch at a pizza place after the game.

How cute are the cupcakes her coach brought?

Saturday night one of our favorite baby sitters got married.  I didn't take any pictures at the wedding but Harper took this of us before we left.  It was a sweet wedding.

Sunday I celebrated Mother's Day at church with my family.

I taught WH's class in Sunday School

My kids picked my favorite Mexican place for lunch which made me happy.  And the restaurant even game me a rose. :-)

It was a gorgeous day and I got to take a super long trail walk alone.  I listened to podcast and just enjoyed the weather and the outdoors.

It got quiet and we lost Will Holden for a little bit and found him asleep in our bed.  I think all the late nights playing outside are catching up with him.  Just 2 more weeks of school!

We think we can!

Mugs and Muffins

I'm having one of those weeks where I get up extra early and hit the ground running and don't stop until late at night.  It's just a busy and wonderful time!

Especially when I have sweetness like this with me!

Little Frat Boy with his precious "chicken minis".  We have had a special deal this year that on Tuesday mornings we go to Bible Study and I let him have chicken minis and he takes them to church and eats them for breakfast.  At one point - each of my kids have had Tuesdays as a day that was our one on one time to go to Bible Study and then have lunch and play.  I'm going to be one sad mom when WH goes to kindergarten and doesn't spend his Tuesdays with me.

Hollis had a tournament game for soccer Tuesday night.  They won so now we get to play this weekend.

This is how WH waits out the games.  He's usually running the fields but Tuesday, he just laid in the grass and chilled.

Wednesday I spent all day with my friend/boss Susan.  She did a seminar on "Parenting Your Adult Children".  This may sound like a weird topic but you would be surprised on all the reasons people are drawn to this topic.  Susan spoke on everything from boundaries, not enabling, raising grandchildren, communication, and so much more.  It was really good.  We would like to do something again soon and have something we could share online.  I think it would be valuable for so many.

Yesterday was a packed day.  I had breakfast with friends, an appointment, picked up kids, ran to piano lessons, ran to the grocery store, fixed dinner, went to a meeting, came home late and worked on a few things before heading to bed.

One of my friends had a few us over for breakfast.  She surprised us with a Mother's Day breakfast.  She made us the sweetest cards and gave us mugs.  It was so sweet.

Isn't she the prettiest and her house is to die for?

She made us THESE muffins and they were to die for.  And I'm not normally a fan of blueberry muffins.  I had to run and buy a box for my kids.  They love muffins.

This boy! We got his school pictures back and they are SO precious.  He's just the sweetest thing ever.  I'm so crazy about him.
