Praying for a new school year

Today is the first day of school for the girls! We are excited! I'm sad to see summer come to an end but the beginning of school is always a fresh, exciting time.

Last week we had open house at both schools and met our teachers.  Harper is headed to middle school today! Middle school is 5th and 6th here.  Harper was so thrilled to see some of her best friends!

She got the SWEETEST teacher.  This teacher's kids have been in class with Harper and Hollis so we have known her as a mom but I have heard she's a great teacher too! Harper only knows one girl in her class but I know she will make good friends!

And thankfully in middle school kids can sit with whoever they want so she can meet up with her besties at least at first! I love these sweet girls!

Hollis got a wonderful third grade teacher.  She's a perfect fit for my girl1

She started kindergarten crying and clinging to me and now she's a confident 3rd grader.  She's got several good friends in her class so I know she will have the best year.

Our school has a toy story theme this year and Will Holden is HERE FOR IT!

This morning I took the girls for a special treat and got them a mani/pedi.  They were so excited!

They are ready for school with pretty nails.

I met some moms at school after lunch to pray over the school.  It was a really sweet time! It was moms I didn't know well so that made it special to me to make some new connections.

After dinner last night, we went to the school to pray as a family.  This is a back to school tradition we have.  We stand in the parking lot or just outside the school and take turns praying.

We pray for:

Teachers - to have wisdom and energy and to be protected
Staff - to have wisdom and to be protected
Kids - to feel loved at school and to be kind to each other
Parents - to feel peace as they leave their kids
For ALL kids to be included and have friends
For safety over the entire school
For our kids to be a light and represent Jesus

We pray daily over our kids and school and with our kids about school but I think it's powerful to stand by the school and pray over the year the night before it starts. I can't think of a better way to prepare for the new year!
