Friday Fellowship - Wynter Pitts

I'm so excited that my Friday guest today is Wynter Pitts.  I have gotten to know her over the last couple of years through social media and we have a few friends in common.  She has a beautiful family that includes four little girls.  She has a heart for girls (clearly) which I think is what drew me to her as a mom of girls myself.  She has a Christian magazine she does for girls, "For Girls Like You"  and she also has written several devotion books for girls.  Harper loves the most recent one that we have "You're God's Girl".   If you are a mom of girls, you will be interested in her resources! She spoke at Dot Mom this year which I have gone to in the past and I'm so sad I missed getting to hear and meet her!

Her daughter Alena also starred in the movie "War Room".  And you might recognize her cousin Priscilla Shirer (who played Alena's mom in the movie).

I KNOW you will enjoy learning more about her!

1.  What is your favorite Food?-
Does dessert count? Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice-cream! Or just bowl of sugar.

2.  What is your very favorite piece of clothing right now? (FASHION)-
Fuzzy socks!! After a long hot summer with flip flops and sandals, I am so excited about cooler weather and comfy socks! Socks make me feel at home and I always have a pair of socks. The crazier the design the better! I also just bought a pair of blue boots…so maybe I just love anything fun for my feet!

3.  Tell us about your Family?

My husband Jonathan and I have been married for 13 years! That sounds so wild! We got married 10 days after our college graduation and were pregnant with the 1st of our 4 daughters a month later. We were just babies but God knows exactly what He is doing and His timing is perfect. Our girls are now Alena (12), Kaitlyn (9), Camryn and Olivia (7, twins!)

4.  What is the most important quality in your Friends? OR tell us something that a Friend has done for you that you can't forget.

I am an introvert and I love when a friend doesn’t mind just sitting/driving/shopping in silence with me!! No explanation needed but we just get each other and give each other the freedom to just be.  However, because i love being alone, I also love that God has given me friends that know how to give me space but also when its time to pull me out! I am blessed to call some of my family my closest friends and I will never forget a few years ago I was having a hard time spiritually as well as in my physical circumstances and situation. I went about a week without really answering my phone or engaging in any meaningful conversation with anyone. I definitely needed the time a part and was grateful that my friends respected that but eventually my cousin just showed up at my front door, invited herself in and laid across the kitchen floor with me on top of the leftover kid’s craft blanket. It sounds so strange now but friends don’t mind joining you right where you are!

5.  What's something you have learned recently in your Faith journey?  And/or share your favorite scripture right now and why or your favorite Bible Study or book you have read recently.
My favorite scripture is John 15:5, "I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” I love that God gently and lovingly puts in my place. I can get so busy doing and taking care of business that I forget I can’t actually do any of it without Him! Lately this verse has convicted me in my journey as a parent. With a houseful of growing girls (and 1 being almost 13!) I have a tendency to try to take over. I want them to get “it” right and if I am not careful then I quickly let their journey become my full responsibility.  God has reminded me to relinquish control even over my children. When I find myself stressing or worrying over their futures I hear Him tell me, “She is mine…an so are you." I am helpless and hopeless without Him, so my focus needs to always be on my relationship with Him. I can not produce anything worthwhile (write, teach, parent or fold laundry) without being connected to Him, Hi grace and His mercy.

6.  What is your biggest Fear?
Thinking about my fears!  So serious!

7.  What are some of your Favorite things right now?
I am loving my kids ages right now. Everyone is out of diapers, can dress themselves and walk through target! We have great conversations together and observing as their brains and their hearts start to connect. Although its not challenge free, they are really a joy and I loving this stage in our journey!
8.  What has been your biggest Failure?
Not believing God’s words sooner. I grew up in a Christian home and obtained a lot of knowledge about God. It wasn’t until after marriage that I really sought relationship and true heart change happened. It often feels like I wasted so much time but then I am reminded of the testimony I have because of it and I am grateful that He continued to pull me into Truth and Love!

9.  What do you do for Fun?-
I have the most fun when I have no schedule or plan but am free to just enjoy a whole day of spontaneous nothingness—movies, meandering through little town shops, coffee….love it! I also have to be honest and say I love to sleep! I am a napper and sleep is not just something I do because its necessary but I actually enjoy it!

10.  Tell me about what animals you have? (Furry things)-
A few weeks ago my cousin stopped by our house and took the girls for "ice-cream," they came back with a 12 week old Yorkiepoo! After getting over the shock, I am now in love with our puppy. His name is Max and he is the smartest, wildest and cutest little friend! He is also a lot of work but the joy he’s bought our family makes him so worth it!

11.  What is your favorite FILM? (movie)-
I can quote Coming to America! Another favorite is The Story of Us. Both of these are older movies. I am pretty sure I was too young to watch them when I did, but they are my two favorites now! One is hilarious and the other is a complete tear jerker.

12.  What is one Fact we might not know about you?

I have absolutely no rhythm but I dance all the time in private. If you ever see me dance then you know we have reached a special place in our friendship!

I hope you loved hearing from Wynter and will check out her website - especially if you have girls!
