Play Date and the Cookie Monster

We had a fun morning. We had a friend come over and stay the morning with us so his parents could go for an ultrasound to find out if he was having a little brother or a little sister!!!

They played pretty well together. He is about 7 months older than Harper. And MUCH more mellow and easy going. ha! I love that they were both in their fleecy pj's.
Isn't he cute? I loved this picture!
This was CLEARLY taken with my phone and not my camera but I'm sure he doesn't play with a teapot at home much. ha! I told him it was coffee so he wouldn't lose his man card. :-)
Harper missed her morning nap and normally doesn't nap in the afternoon but we both needed some rest so after he left I fed her lunch, gave her a bath and bottle and put her to bed and she slept for two hours! When she got up a package had come from my Uncle Bob and Aunt Linda so I let her open it.
They got her this cute outfit and shoes! We love them!! They also sent a nice donation for the Ronald McDonald House that we are excited about.

AND:

I almost didn't post this next part because I told Scott I imagined I would get lots of comments about what a bad mother I am but I remembered that my 2010 resolution is to blog for US and it was also TOO funny not to remember.

Harper has a drawer in the kitchen that she can play in. It has tupperware and her bottles and snacks and she is happy to play in it forever. So she was in it this afternoon and I went right next to her in our laundry room to load the dryer. I was just there for a minute but I realized that she had gotten quiet and went to check on her. I couldn't find her but I heard a noise coming from our pantry. The door was partially shut and the light was out but this little mouse had found the package of oreos on the bottom shelf and was helping herself:
I gave her a little taste of Oreo a week or two ago and she liked it so much when I put the package away she nearly turned purple she was so mad. I guess she remembered the goodness. I know it's just awful but I was laughing hysterically that she was double fisting the oreos.
(I should explain that I just happened to have the camera sitting out on the kitchen counter so of course I took this before I got her out of there. But I had to GRAB those cookies out of the hands of steel. She did not want to let go. And then Dawson took off with one and I had to open his mouth with both hands to get it out. I sort of think they may be working together as a team).
I'm thinking that next weekend when she gets her own cake - she is not going to have ANY problems putting it away! ha!

Oh, that is the funniest thing I have ever seen! And don't for one minute think you are a bad mother. That is the priceless moments that make being a mother so wonderful! I am pretty sure my daughter was drinking sweet tea by 10 months! That's just one of the things about living in the south. (we are from SC)

Love it Kelly! So funny. Looks like she pulled out another package of cookies but knew she wanted the Oreos. And the fact that she has on her "I've been good." shirt is too funny.

Oh, and just wanted to say that I feel terrible that your worry about negative comments. I think you're a great momma and I love that you are gracious enough to share your life with us.

Kelly, I love today's post! It makes me wish mine were babies again. YOu are a great mom. I have dozens of "bad mom" stories by the way. (I even asked poison control if they were tracking me...) I was cleaning my bathroom and to keep them away from harm, I put all three in front of the TV. Maybe 10 minutes later I walk through the kit. to check on everyone and one of my 1 year olds had pulled a chair up to the sink and was sitting in dishwater taking a bath. There is no possible way to keep your eyes on them at all times.
A tip--make sure your oatmeal is higher up. Mine was sitting at about 18-mo. height...you do the math.

I am literally laughing out loud at the picture of Harper cramming ithe oreos in her mouth. :) Kelly, you are one of the best moms ever. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise. And I am a complete stranger, ha! :) I love the oreo story. We all have stories just like them. And laugh about them for years.

Ha!!! Love the Oreo story!!! Your not a bad mom at all. You could send that picture into Oreo and maybe get a commerical gig out of it for Harper...The last picture looks like she is saying..."Got Milk".

Just this morning my friends and I were talking about this kind of thing. One friend said she had to bribe her son to take his medicine by telling him he could have a chocolate kiss. The other friend said that her little boy had an Oreo for breakfast over the Christmas holidays...so you are not alone!!!

That is HILARIOUS!!! And you aren't a bad mom, no matter what anyone else says!!

Look at that oreo girl go!! She is so adorable!! Reminds me of one time when I took my son with me to get my hair cut. I took the walker along and put him in it. Next thing I knew his face looked like Harper;s with the chocolate on his face, except his was DIRT from her plant. I about gagged. He's now a youth pastor in Scotland- guess it was just a good initiation for him. Gotta love those kids!!!! dsfox625@hotmail.com

Love, Love, Love the Oreo pictures!!! Of course you had to take a picture of that! Those are fun memories. It reminded me of when my nephew was younger he got into my Mom's makeup and marked all over himself with her black eyeliner, drawing circles all around his eyes, face, and even pulled his shirt and drew on his belly!! Of course, we couldn't help but laugh and certainly had to take a picture. But then he was in BIG trouble with his Nana! ;) yeah right!!

I love love love the picture of Harper double-fisting Oreos! What girl hasn't done that at some point in her life?

That is TOO funny! Harper and Dawson definitely have the team effort going on! Good job posting what YOU want to post about. If people feel the need to criticize your parenting, it means they are just not happy with their own parenting. Enjoy being a mom, especially when you find Harper in the pantry!

Thank you so much for sharing. I love the Oreo shot. It's moments like that that we need to blow up as large as we can and keep out for all to see.

It's so hilarious that her shirt says "I've been Good, How about you" after being caught red handed with the oreos.

hahahah... thanks for sharing Kelly. You are FAR from being a bad mother, moments like that happen to us all... at least she was eating something that was meant to be eaten! When our son was one he too got into my pantry & was helping himself to SUGAR, yikes!!
