I'm "falling" for you

We made a little visit to the doctor this morning. Looks like Harper has a double ear infection. We are pretty sure it's all caused by her teething (which I was looking at her this morning and she has FOUR top teeth all coming in at once - oh my!) She hasn't been fussy at all or ran a temperature but she was pulling at her ear this morning so I thought I would get her looked at and I'm glad I did. We are armed with some meds and hopefully we will be all better soon. Bless her little heart - four teeth and a double ear infection and she has just been real happy and sweet.
We had a trip to the Pumpkin Patch planned for tomorrow but I think we are going to stay home tomorrow and try to get well and we'll go another day instead. I have looked forward to having a baby and taking them to the pumpkin patch for years now. Every fall I would just dream of the day I could pull a wagon with my little baby in it and pick out pumpkins and take pictures. I just LOVE fall so much!

We don't have this dress - just thought it was cute. We have a similar one. This dress is from Lolly Wooly Doodle.

BESIDES football and the new TV schedules - I was thinking about what else I love about fall - I love these cute little fall outfits and Fall clothes in general. I love tights and boots and sweaters!
I LOVE when the leaves change. This is the University of Arkansas in the fall - it is always SO pretty! The leaves are beginning to change here and I can't wait for the peak!
I love Caramel Apple Spice drinks at Starbucks - have you had one? I usually only treat myself to one EVERY once in a while but Oh so yum! Of course once they bring out the hot chocolate flavors and it's colder - that's my drink of choice!
I LOVE pumpkin candles and sweet cinnamon pumpkin lotions from Bath and Body works!

I love all the fun and festive leaves and pumpkin cake pans that are out there. I don't actually have any (or really do much baking) but they sure are cute!

I have yet to do any fall decorating. I usually just do mums and a pumpkin and a fall wreath. I'm not into decorating my house. I'm just waiting it out for Christmas. I didn't do much last year since I was 9 months pregnant but this year I'm planning to start early and really decorate a lot - it's Harper's First Christmas! I want it to be so special.

What is your favorite thing about fall??

What a Day

Oh Y'all - I am worn out tonight. It doesn't help that I feel like I'm getting sick again. What is the deal???? In 15 years of working - I don't think I missed more than 5 days total for being sick. I've just always been so healthy but I feel like I'm constantly sick this year. Did having a baby kill my immune system?

Anyway - this morning I went to Bible Study at my church. Once a month our women's group leaves Bible Study early and we go to visit shut ins or members of the church who are now in nursing homes or assisted living. This is RIGHT up my alley because I love old women and I love nursing homes. So Laurie and my friend Amanda and I went to visit Irma in an assisted living. She was very sweet. We picked up our girls and went to eat at one of my favorite places - Shogun Express. It was so good! I wish I would have taken out my camera this morning and taken a few pictures but I didn't.

We came home and Harper had no desire for a nap. So I let her play in her room and I re-organized her closet. I packed up all of her clothes that no longer fit in a big tub and went through all of her stuff to make sure we don't miss any outfits! I was glad to get that taken care of. At least for a few more months.
Laurie had to take Sarah Kate to the doctor so I kept Emily for a few hours. She is SO much fun and Harper really liked watching a "big girl". We ate snacks and Harper played in her new car toy.
Emily played with Harper's stuffed animals and dressed up in her tutus and flower bands. I thought she looked SO cute in this big flower.

She was posing like a little model for me here
Harper crawling
The two of them got in Harper's bed and played for a little bit. We had a great time and I filled Emily up with every sugary snack we had in our house so I'm sure she will be bouncing off the walls all night (sorry Laurie!) I'm thinking she had fun with us because when Laurie came - she ended up having to pick her up and carry her out while she screamed all the way to the car "No - I don't want to leave. I don't want to go home!". I'm not going to lie - that tickled me to death!

(Okay - y'all are always asking me this - I use Lightroom to edit photos. I know NOTHING about it - I just click a bunch of stuff until I like how it looks. I wish I was smart enough to tell you what to do - it's just something I enjoy and know nothing about.)

But I did learn that taking care of two kids is tiring. Even easy girls like Emily and Harper. They were both good but I was worn out. I don't know how all of you with two or MORE do it. I really don't. Tell me it's easy and worth it before I talk myself into an only child. :-)

(and NO - not pregnant!!!! Not even thinking about it for a while. I'm sick because I'm tired. I packed up Harper's clothes to make room in her closet but I'm sure in a few more months - I'll be packing up the next sizes, and I'm just thinking about two kids because I took care of two today and it was just more busy than one!)(Just wanted to clear up any rumors. ha ha ha ha ha!)

Oh What a Beautiful Morning

My plans for today got cancelled so we turned this into a day at home (for the most part). Harper is down for a nap right now and I know that my two projects for the week are the yard and the closet but right now I'm so tired I think I'm going to lay on the couch and watch a DVR'd show and nap myself (when I finish this post). Now not only does Harper get up every few hours but she has decided that 5:30 is a great time to start the day. I got her to stay in bed until 6 this morning but that was it. The child has NO NEED for sleep.
I have a new guest post on my bank's blog about getting rid of debt - you'll have to check it out and let me know what you think! I'm always still open to suggestions on any money topics you might have for future posts there.
So many of you asked where my friend Melissa got Harper's hair band - and this is WHERE!

Okay - ya'll really made me feel like I could try a scarf so I got a $5 scarf at Wal-Mart and decided to try and wear it today. Because Harper and I had to go to where else - Wal-Mart for groceries this morning. I couldn't find my little camera so I could take a picture but my video camera was laying out so I took a little video. This could not be cheesier but I'll put it on here anyway. I'm also trying to remind myself that the camera adds 10 pounds (or is it 25?) ha!
P.S. See the rose in a vase on my kitchen counter? Harper and I went for a walk this morning in this beautiful fall weather (and Dawson tagged along too) and my neighbor came out and cut me a rose from one of her bushes. What a great way to start my week!

P.P.S. I'm sorry my filming skills remind you of the Blair Witch Project. And also - it cracks me up when I wear something new - Harper will stare at it. Yesterday I wore a flower band in my hair to church and Harper kept looking up at it and then looking at me and she would just smile. I can't wait until she can make little comments on how I look - even though I know they may be too honest! ha!

Hope your week is off to a great start also!

Happy Fall, Y'all!

Today in church - our choir and youth choir sang "The Revelation Song". I love this song and I thought this was the best our choir has ever done! Two teenage girls sang the verses and they are so talented - as I worshipped - I prayed that Harper would have a heart like Jesus one day like some of our youth do. I pray every night that He guides her steps and makes her a woman after His own heart and that He gives me and Scott the wisdom to guide her.

I have a busy week. For some reason I always thought when I became a SAHM that I would be bored or not have a lot to do but my days are full! I have something EVERY day this week and I have two projects to tackle during every nap and after Harper's bedtime: Weeding our flower beds and getting them in shape before fall/winter and cleaning out my closet and getting it ready for fall/winter. I also need to try to go through Harper's closet and figure out what she has grown out of and what she is ready to fit into.

I love fall/winter clothes. I LOVE boots and I love layering. I'm a little worried because last year I was pregnant and who knows if I can fit into my old normal clothes. I can NOT continue to wear maternity jeans so I either need to lose weight or get new jeans. I also am into cardigans this year and I'd really like to get some cowboy boots to wear with dresses! I have been shopping on ebay for a cheap pair! Another problem I have is my old "normal" fall/winter wardrobe was a "career" wardrobe so I don't have a lot of casual clothes that I can wear at home. It's not practical to sit around in high heeled boots so I'm trying to adjust.
Also - I REALLY want to wear a scarf like all the cool people but I just look like a DORK! I can't make it work for me. Sadness.
So I'll be doing quick updates every day but I'm going to try to stay away from the computer as much as possible so I can accomplish as much as I can! And don't get me started on the other things Fall brings (besides football) - FALL TV! My DVR is about to blow up and I can't ever find time to watch shows.

What is your favorite FALL TV show or what is your favorite fall clothing item?

P.S. I know there are no pictures of my child on this post (MOM) but I want to be one of those people who can actually talk about something other than their baby sometimes! ha! :-) (plus Sundays are SO busy around here - I barely have time to breathe much less take pictures)

Watch out Texas A&M - we are going to beat the Aggies next week!
(at least I hope!)

My Girl

Harper and I have been two busy bees the last two days but we have been having so much fun.

Yesterday morning we went to play group at Laurie's house. I think there were 11 moms and babies there. This is Mary Avery holding our newest baby - Ben. Mary Avery will be having the next baby in November! I can't wait to find out if it's a boy or a girl!!!!

Neely and Sarah Kate - they are SO cute!
We only got to stay at play group for 30 minutes because we had to go the doctor. After the doctor, I needed to go to Wal-Mart but Harper and I were both hungry so we ended up having our VERY first mother/daughter lunch out. I hope this will the first of many lunches out over a lifetime.
Harper spent most of her time throwing food on the floor or staring at the waitresses.
We ate at my VERY favorite lunch place - Crumpet Tea room. This is my favorite lunch of all times - chicken salad, orange roll (to DIE for) and fruit with poppyseed dressing. I craved this SO much when I was pregnant and haven't had it since I had Harper.
Last night my friend Ginger hosted Girl's Night Out at her house. I left Harper sleeping and Scott watching Ole Miss get beat and had SO much fun. Scott asked me what we did and I told him we ate and talked - mostly about our deliveries. Probably because there were 15 girls there and 6 are pregnant and a lot of the rest of us have babies. We laughed and laughed and I ate and ate. ha! I can't say enough how important girlfriends are in your life.
This group played scrabble. I'm not smart enough to be in that group - I stuck with the talkers. ha! I hope we can do this again OFTEN!
This morning we had a play date with Laurie and a girl from our MOPS group. She has 2 boys so our 3 girls weren't used to all the cars and dinosaurs. ha! Once again - Harper latched on and held the boy's hand. I'm very concerned that she instantly holds hands with every boy she meets. Scott is really going to have to talk to her soon.
We left there and went to meet our friend Rebekah for lunch who is in town briefly from Texas. We were excited to meet each other's daughters for the first time. This is her sweet girl Cilla.
We had a great time at lunch with these 2 girls! Cilla and Harper are 2 months apart and they both weighed almost 10 pounds at birth! We had a lot in common to talk about!

I figured out this morning why Harper has not slept at all for the last week - she has two new TEETH! I was brushing her teeth this morning and realized she has two top teeth that have come about half way in! She hasn't drooled or been chewing or really been fussy but hopefully the no sleep was her symptom. I can't believe she now has 4 teeth!

We are looking forward to a relaxing weekend at home and hopefully catching up on lots of home projects! I hope you have a great weekend too!

Show Us Your Life - Desserts

Last week was great - I'm going to have to go through and try a lot of those recipes.
This week is even better - desserts! Yum!!!!
As always - find the schedule and past installments of Show Us Your Life Friday at
www.kellyskornershowusyourlife.blogspot.com

CAKE BALLS

This is super easy and you can make it any kind of variety you like. I've seen yellow cake and chocolate icing and chocolate and chocolate. But being the good Southern girl I am - I LOVE red velvet cake so I thought this would be good.
All you do is bake the cake mix according to directions
When it's still warm - crumble it up in a bowl and mix in a can of frosting (I used cream cheese with the red velvet!)
IMPORTANT STEP: Refrigerate the cake and frosting for about an hour before you start making balls!
I used this handy little scooper from Pampered chef to scoop balls
Melt almond bark (either vanilla or chocolate - depending on your cake) and dip balls in the bark. You could use toothpicks or a fork - but I used this egg separator and it worked GREAT!
And voila - one of the yummiest things you will ever taste!!!

The Reason You May Hear Less and Less of Me

This video may be a little boring to everyone but grandparents but it's just a picture of how my day is now. I have a little busy girl who wants to move constantly. This is her when I laid her down for a nap today. (I'm sorry about the hysterical laughing - I think I'm completely delirious from no sleep in days - plus she just cracks me up)

Needless to say - I took the Bumpers out of her crib this afternoon. I'm so sad because they were SO cute but she was using them to climb so they have to go.

She has been pulling up on me and other things in the last day or two and she really likes standing. She wants to do it constantly. Oh my life is getting so busy. :-)

We did get to have lunch with my friend Melissa today and I finally joined choir again tonight after a 10 month hiatus. It was good to be back!!!! (All of my choir friends who are reading - I really missed you! And I missed the chance to worship with you!) Scott kept Harper and fed her and put her to bed all by himself for the first time ever. He has kept her and he has helped me put her to bed but he's never done the whole routine alone before. But we had a success so I'm thinking he can do it again! ha!

A whole lot of stuff...............................

On Tuesday mornings we go to Bible Study at our church. I'm thankful that our church has a good Women's ministry and offers several times and studies for women. When I worked - I was able to go to either a Monday night study or Sunday afternoon and I enjoyed both of those. You get a good cross section of the church at each of the times. I like the mornings because it's a lot of young moms and a lot of the older women in the church (who I ADORE and don't get the chance to be around enough) and then several in the middle. I wish we young moms would get more interaction with the older women (the "Primetimers" as our church calls them). They have so much wisdom to share and are just so cute!
This little sweetie in pink and brown had another great day in the nursery! She is really starting to adjust which makes this momma's heart so happy!
She took a long nap today and while I cooked dinner - she hung out in her exersaucer and ate her snack in there and watched "Praise Baby". Look who was very interested in her snack time! ha!
Harper has started really pulling up a lot. I had to stand in the hallway today and keep an eye on her for 30 minutes until she finally went to sleep at naptime because I was so worried of her pulling up. So tonight we lowered her bed.

She is getting so big so fast! She keeps us constantly entertained!

1194 - Erika (Love that your wedding party walked down to "Come and Listen" - now I want to get married again so I can do that - that IS the perfect song for a wedding - LISTEN UP SINGLE GIRLS!!!!!)

IF YOU ARE ONE OF THE WINNERS - PLEASE E-MAIL ME YOUR ADDRESS TO kellyskornerblog@gmail.com by THURSDAY OR I WILL SELECT A NEW WINNER!!!

I have had several people send me a link to a young couple and they have been on my mind so much that I thought I would mention them. The Sullivans have been married for 5 years. I'm not 100% sure of details but she had breast cancer during her pregnancy. She ended up having to have an emergency c-section this week and soon after they got home started seizing. She is now on life support and they may have announced her brain dead. They have a brand new baby Chloe. I just keep thinking about this young guy that may not only have to grieve the love of his life but will be left with a brand new baby. I can't imagine. Please pray. (Since I wrote this - she has gone on to be with Jesus). This young husband REALLY needs your prayers.

Also - a few thoughts on the Friday "Show Us Your Life" series. A lot of you have asked about doing Fall and Christmas decorations and holiday traditions. I'm going to add Fall decorations to the series and Thanksgiving traditions/recipes. My friend Boomama usually does a Christmas Tour of Homes so if she does it again this year - I'm going to leave that to her! It's always SO fun if you haven't done it before!
A blogger sent me another great idea that I'm going to do in several weeks also. So many of you have home businesses or make things that you sell. I know a lot of you have asked to have your things featured and I LOVE to do that but it's gotten so overwhelming for me that I've had to stop. BUT we will have one week where anyone who makes or sells things can feature it on their blog and everyone can look - great early HOLIDAY SHOPPING and a good way to support other moms! And a great way to represent yourself!

Shoes and Church Music!

Why is Harper so happy today?
I mean she has got the Joy, Joy, Joy down in her heart!
Because this weekend we finally broke out shoes!!! I know what you are thinking........just now? She is 8 months old! Well, at first we stayed in all the time and she was so little - shoes seemed uncomfortable so I just kept her in socks. And then she had the great habit of chewing her feet constantly so it was useless to put anything on her feet plus it was hot summer in Arkansas - so we just went barefoot. But since Fall is now officially here - I put her in shoes and she LOVED them. This morning I was worried we might get pulled over by the fashion police for wearing white shoes after labor day (does that rule apply to babies?)........so we headed to Target to get a few new shoes for fall.
Really - why are you just now telling me about shoes? What else are you holding out on?
We got these little black sweet shoes that have the cutest bow!
and I love these in the fall colors. They are a little big.....but will hopefully be good for a few months! We are growing so fast!
Now wait until I tell her about jewelry!
Um - remember how we got to meet David Crowder and how we love him dearly???? Remember how I listened to him pretty much on a constant basis all through the hard (and good) times of my life and sometimes when I hear "You are my Joy" I just want to jump up and down because seriously I could just burst because God IS my joy. David Crowder and his band have the greatest songs. Well - his newest CD "Church Music" comes out tomorrow and let me tell you - it is GREAT!!!!
And I am just bouncing out of my seat because I have 10 copies to give away!!!!!! So leave me a comment - tell me your favorite DCB song or if you have never heard of him - let me know that - I'd love for someone who doesn't listen to Christian music or has never heard of David Crowder to win this! You have until tomorrow night at 7 p.m. central time to leave me a comment and then I'll list the winners and we will get you the CD's right out so you can start listening!!!
(I'm picking with a random number picker)
Tomorrow - I'm going to come back here and put the link to itunes where you can download the CD yourself and listen to previews of the songs! So come back and go visit!!!

Harper says "AHHHHHHHH.......I'm SO excited! I love David Crowder! And you will too!"

UPDATE:
I'm reading the comments and realizing so many of you have never heard of David Crowder so I'm going to put a few videos on here so you can hear some of my favorites - (I will say that his new CD is good but different than his normal stuff - so you may want to go to itunes and download "illumination" or "remedy" or "collision (so good)" first if you don't have any of his music).

What I learned about my First Hog Game Day by Harper

52-41? You mean the Hogs lost?
Are mommy and daddy going to be in a bad mood all day Sunday?
Thank goodness my grandparents came by today and kissed me a bunch. They are a lot of fun - they think I'm super cute and I can't do anything wrong. They kept me while mommy and daddy had a lunch date. I never even noticed they were gone because my grandparents oohed and aahed over me so much. They are nice.
Mommy said she was a little sad to be staying home tonight and not going to the game but I think she changed her mind after it was raining and then when they lost. She made me go to bed during the first quarter but not before she did a lot of screaming and yelling and jumping around. She made me laugh a lot - I just kept staring at her because I've never seen my mom act like that. Football must be very exciting. Even more exciting than Sonic drinks or fried pies. I can't wait until my daddy takes me to a game!

Oh well - Mommy says we will beat Alabama next week. I like Alabama - that's where I got to go swimming in the ocean but Mommy says we need to beat the Crimson Tide. I was going to wear my victory Razorback dress to church tomorrow but now mommy has to find me something else to wear. I'm trying to decide whether I should be sweet at church or do a lot of crying. I guess we'll find out tomorrow! Goodnight everyone! It's about time for me to wake my mom up again! I'm hungry!
