Pray for Vivian

Somer Day is a blogger who I have gotten to know over the last year or two and she is SO sweet. She is an Ole Miss grad but I forgive her because she married an OBU boy. :-) This is her beautiful daughter Vivian and she needs your prayers right now - please read below and lift this baby up. I think we all know this could easily happen to any of our children.

Dear friends,

Just wanted to let you know about a situation involving Vivian Day, the three year old daughter of Clif and Somer Clark-Day. She was involved in an accident on her bike yesterday with a parked truck. This accident apparently caused a skull fracture. Somer notified me late yesterday evening... and was obviously overcome with emotion. Vivian had been taken away in an ambulance from her home because Somer knew fairly quickly that the accident was more than a major laceration. At the time of her call, she knew that Vivian would have to have a CT scan and knew she was going to have a consultation with neurosurgery. Somer had called me to ask me to put Vivian on the prayer chain at church.

I received another call from Somer later concerning the fact that Vivian was going to have an operation on her skull. Once the doctor and team began performing the operation, they discovered that the skull was a little more depressed than originally thought. The depression was approx. 2 1/2 inches long and an inch wide. Her head was shaved and cut from the middle of her head to her ear. The team pulled the depressed part of skull out and attached sutures. No screws were used, so it is thought that theses will grow with her. This is some good news. Other hopeful news is that no brain bleeds were detected. The doctor is concerned about a possible contusion (bruise on the brain). Therefore, Vivian will have another CT scan today. She is currently on anti-seizure meds and antibiotics. She is in the ICU at this time. If the CT scan looks good today, she might be able to move to a room within the next couple of days. After yet another normal scan, she would be able to go home. Somer did indicate that she did wake up and ask for some water and has spoken a bit. She is cognitive.

The nurses who were assisting on the operation had worked with Somer previously before Somer had children... and while she was pregnant with Vivian. She said they took extra care in cleaning her up and caring for her. Our senior pastor, Guy Whitney was there for Somer and Clif throughout the evening... staying until after 3:00 a.m.

Specific prayers have been requested for continued improvement and healing. Please pray for no contusions and/or brain bleeds. Please pray for these parents, who are in agony. Clif is apparently very distraught as he was assisting Bauer, who had fallen off his tricycle... and Vivian took off her little helmet and rode away from him.

Forward this information to whomever you think would need to know and will pray.

We will most definitely be praying for Miss Vivian and Miss Kate! Jackson has just learned how to walk and the worry factor has just been multiplied infinitely, but I must remember that it is not myself that is control, but rather a much more capable almighty Physician. Glad Harper is being such a sweetie for you. It sure is a blessing when you have a good day with your baby! Especially after some hard nights with them.

Oh that made me cry because I can totally see how that could happen so easily! It's so hard to keep an eye on more than one child at a time. My one year old was in one of those little push cars earlier this summer and my 3 year old nephew pushed her right under our SUV. It could have been bad, but thankfully he wasn't strong enough to push her too hard.
Oh Jesus be with sweet Vivian and her family and bring her complete healing in the mighty name of JESUS!
Thanks for posting this Kelly. I'm sure you're bombarded with prayer requests all the time, but you've got such a ministry and continue to use your blog to bring the body of Christ together for such a time as this!! Thank you! Can't wait to meet you in Heaven one day!

I will keep her in prayer as well as these loving parents. Supernatural healing. Peace to fill and pour over the torment. Accidents happen so quickly. I personally know this on a much smaller scale but it's tough to be the parent that is there when it happens. I will pray without ceasing!

You are right, that could happen to anyone. Kids don't like to wear helmets and will take them off the first chance they get. I'll pray for her for sure, and her parents too. Hopefully, all will be well and she'll be home soon!

My family was in a similar situation 21 yrs ago. Fortunately no surgery, but 7 scary days. Now,at age 29, my son is "none worse for the wear"
I will pray for this little girl and her family. Hopefully she will have as happy an outcome as we did.
Please keep us posted.

I'm Vivian's Aunt (Clif's sister). I saw Vivian this evening. She is sleepy and swollen, but definitely on the mend. If the x-ray is good tomorrow, she gets to go home. I am touched by everyone's comments and prayers. Thanks and keep it up.

Also, could you inform us exactly what happened with poor little Vivian?? I know it said that she didnt have a helmet on, but what exactly happened with the parked truck? I'm just curious as I have two small nieces, one whom just started riding a 2 wheeler, and I'd like to be extra careful! Thanks!
