American Idol

I've had several people send this to me and so if you haven't seen it - here is Kris Allen leading worship in his home church. The footage shown is Little Rock, AR.

I'm sure if he would have sang this (and I wish he could have) - Simon and Randy would have been like "Dog - I don't get that song at ALL". "Bad song choice". One of my college friends told me her mom and Kris' mom are friends and that he had told his mom before he got to the final that he needed one more week there because he had been witnessing to Adam and felt like he needed just a little more time with him.

That's the kind of American Idol I can be proud of. No person is perfect and we should never idolize anyone but God because every human will let us down. Your pastor, Billy Graham, Beth Moore, Chris Tomlin, your Sunday School teacher - they are all sinners and come short of the glory of God. He alone is Holy.

I love this song by Addison Road "What do I know of Holy". As we struggle to understand the sadness in this world and we try to put God in a box and question him........we know NOTHING of His Holiness. We can't begin to understand Him.......we can only trust Him and know that His love is wider and deeper and higher than we can ever imagine.

Amen, sister! What a great word to start my day. Kelly, I just love your heart and passion for God! You honor Him and bless us all. :)

That is so awesome of Kris!

What an awesome way to start the day!!! I am also so glad to hear that Kris's heart is in the right place. I said to my boyfriend that he'll be the kind of guy that won't let Hollywood go to his head, and people will respect the heck out of that! Just think of the people that will hear about Christ through our American Idol! That is so cool to think about! :)

Thanks for the video of Kris leading praise....loved it. We are so glad he won.....hope he uses his platform to praise God. Already have our tickets for the Idol contestants in Dallas.

Thank you for sharing this song and the information about Kris witnessing to Adam! I had no idea! However, like you said, that is the type of American Idol we can all be proud of!!

Okay, I just got chills! You're right- that's who I want my American Idol to be, too!

You even looked precious in bed head!! I still feel bad about seeing you in WMart a couple of weeks ago. I was sick and miserable and when I turned around, there was this smiley, cute girl that looked oddly familiar. I think I was in shock and so embarrassed that I didn't know what to do.ha!

Maybe next time! I knew we probably lived close since Melissa said y'all lived by our new school!

My Dad told me the same thing...he said Kris was witnessing to Adam. Hopefully he was able to make an impression on him. Kris used to sing on the worship team at a church we went to. I'm so proud of him!!!! I hope he makes a Christian record, that would be awesome!

Dining Room linky is not working for me either :(

I just figured that there is a stampede right now in getting dining room pix up.

Very well said Kelly! Hopefully, the seeds that Kris planted in Adam will take root and grow.

P.S. I enjoyed the videos of little Harper! I know you and your hubby are so proud of her. What a sweetie :)

I was trying to add a comment to your show us where you live post, but it keeps getting aborted. I don't know what's up with that.
I'm happy to join in!! Plus Harper is such a cutie, how could I miss out!

This is really weird! I can see this post just fine- but the home tour still doesn't work!

Thank you SO much for sharing this Kris video. I always kind of liked him from the beginning, but was rooting for Danny Gokey - he's from my home state of WI, and the fact that he was a worship singer and worked with kids at his church made me root for him as well.

I was happy that Kris ended up winning, but after seeing this video I am ecstatic for him. He was always such a humble, nice guy throughout the show - and I had no idea he was such a Godly man. God has wonderful plans for him, I'm sure - and now I'm positive it is no coincidence that he won.

Loving the pictures and videos of Harper, she's just too cute!!

Thanks Kelly for this post you are so awesome. That is amazing about him being a witness to Adam. I sure hope we hear some Christian music from Kris. Oh and I will be posting my dining room here soon as I take pictures. Love you!!!

i just posted that same video on my facebook last night! it gave me goosebumps. i titled it "THIS is why kris won american idol." makes me tear up thinking of how he's singing of greater things are yet to come & greater things are still to be done... and just LOOK at the greater things God has done in him already. he has such an influence now... think about it, almost 100million people voted for him & he got the majority of the votes... that's a LOT of influence! thanks for sharing :)

ps we all need to remember to pray for him. a lot of pressure & attack comes onto all christians, and i think even more so those with great influence.

Amberdawn said...

I think we all should be praying for Adam and his soul. I live in Conway and know people who are close to Kris and his family. According to Kris, when he witnessed to Adam, some of the things he said to him was Adam's first time hearing those things. Kris didn't want prayers to win, he asked for prayers for Adam's soul. If you can't be behind a guy like that, then who can you? What an amazing testament of a Christian who never judged Adam and was there for him throughout their journey. God works wonders!

Jessica said...

I am glad I am not the only one having problems seeing the dining room post and no my linky....I keep getting the "aborted" thing too. Its weird because I can see this post though...hmmm...

thank you SO MUCH for sharing! i've been watching American Idol for a while now, and i've watched this season (almost every episode, but this time zone change really messed me up for a while lol!), and i honestly thought adam would win. i was rooting for kris, but thought since adam was such a hit with everyone, he would definitely get it. what a surprise (even to kris) that KRIS won! God works in mysterious ways and i'm so glad you shared that about him witnessing to adam. that is wonderful!!

thank you again so much!

i have sensed something "different" about kris allen from the very beginning. so glad to see a portion of his heart here in this video. now we just need to begin praying for him and his new bride as they launch into this new territory.

what a winner. in every sense of the word.

Kelly, Thanks for sharing that about Kris!! I actually go to church with Kris and was there when he sang this song. We all knew Kris' great passion and how he was witnessing to Adam, and thats why probably half the 38 million votes came from Conway. He chose to room with Adam because others didn't have such nice things to say about his relationship status. Kris say it as an opportunity to bring one more to Christ!

He did alot of other amazing things while there in Hollywood, and it really is a God thing that is was there. When he sang this song at church it was right before our new campus was launched and our pastor was telling us how he just has this vision to continue to reach out across the nation. He not only wants our church to grow from city to city, but he said his plan is to bring to word to the Nation. Which was so amazing to me that here Kris is with all of America watching week after week and he is truly reaching the nation. Sorry to ramble on but the whole time Kris was in ideal it gave me chills to see how great God's plan is. We prayed and one of our church members did reach across the nation. Not only that, but Adam and Kris till the end. So amazing!!

Love the video...just wanted to suggest a small change. The original artist of this song is actually a band from Northern Ireland called "Bluetree". What a phenomenal testimony of how this song came about. Might want to change the reference and give credit where its due :~)

I agree with the other comments. I hadn't heard that Kris was witnessing, it not the hot "gossip" you'd see on Entertainment Tonight. But it sure makes me smile to see it being pasted at blazing speed around bloggyland. Praise God, for his hand reaches everywhere. I loved hearing about this. Thanks for sharing. Now I'm going steal it and post the video on my blog so I can pass it along more. :)

You know Mandisa was on American Idol. She sang Shackles from the Women of Faith tour and the judges didn't get it. Read her book if you want some interesting behind the scene happenings on Idol. It was really good. And she never waivered from her Faith and her belief in God.

Kelly, thank you so much for posting the YouTube of Kris Allen. I only saw it here. : )

A few Idol notes:

I remember Simon Cowell saying that it was "self-indulgent" when Mandisa sang "Shackles." I think he was referring to her spoken introduction to the song.

I saw Daughtry on television the week before the finale, and he said that he wanted Kris to win.

Clay Aiken has an interesting post about Idol, and he said that listening to Adam made his ears bleed.

Happy Memorial Day weekend!!

I too heard that he had been witnessing to Adam, if you hear anything else on that please share!! Maybe the three months they spend together on tour will be just what is needed. I have felt the need and urge to pray for Adam, and I am hoping that it is God who is laying him on my heart.

Hey Kelly- the problem is not with Mr. Linky- it's with Blogger, and lots of us are experiencing the same exact thing! The error lies within the "followers" gadget that we all have on our blogs. The only way to get rid of the problem is to remove this gadget from your blog. I had it on both of my blogs, and as soon as I took them off the problem went away, and I know others who did the same thing to fix their blogs! Not only are you having a hard time, but when people try to get on your blog, they get kicked off of it- they get some "error" message that says "internet explorer must close"- good luck!

Jenny said...

Hey again Kelly- I left the post above as well, but I just noticed that I'm not getting kicked off your blog anymore and it seems to be working, so maybe Blogger got the issue resolved and you won't have to remove your "followers" gadget! That will be nice since you have SO many!! BTW- I love your "tour" idea- awesome!

HOLY COW, this just gave me chills, Girl! this is my FAVORITE song right now, i mean favorite- i was thinking how neat it is that God's been glorified thru American Idol thru using Kris. Just a few weeks ago, they were bashing Miss USA for her faith in Christ and how she was a "homophob" and that wasnt representing all the people in the Us, yet the tables were FLIPPED with AI and Kris was witnessing .. SUCH a STRONG strong testimony and how he says he hears the desires of our hearts.. WOW- May God continue to use Kris in his humbleness to glorify him, and may Adam be blessed by Kris and see the special gift of Jesus thru Kris!
You totally made my night with that post!!

I don't follow American Idol (I don't even live in the US) but the day after when they were talking about the 'upset' I got caught up on what was happening. I listened to Kris and then to Adam and then I prayed for Adam because he truly does have God given talent and I know God is able to do anything. So I was thinking.. why don't we join Kris and put Adam on our prayer lists and watch God do His work. (Oh and I didn't have time to read all the comments so I don't know if someone suggested this before)
