THE MILLION DOLLAR QUESTION

I get asked this question at least 25 times a day from all of you.......

"When are you going back to work or are you going to stay home?"

And I couldn't answer that for you.

Until today.

I went and met with my boss this afternoon and let him know that I had decided to take a better job. (and I had an awesome job to start with)!

The pay is a WHOLE, WHOLE lot less.
There will be no raises or bonuses.
No company car.
No annual reviews.
The hours are a LOT longer.
I have to work nights and weekends.
I don't get vacation time or sick days.
I can't call in for "mental health" days.
I have to work all major (and minor) holidays.

But my new boss? He is SUPER CUTE!
And the person reporting to me - PRECIOUS!

Meet my new co-worker.

The little person reporting to me and I plan to have lots of "working lunches", "performance reviews", "coachings" and "team building exercises". I can't fire her so we are in this for the long haul.

As of tomorrow morning, after I clean my office out and turn in my keys, company car, and credit card - I will be starting the job I have dreamed of since I was a girl.

I will be a Stay at Home Mom.

I've never been happier in my entire life.

Kelly that is so exciting that you get to stay home with your girl! Whenever Ava and I start to get cabin fever we take a field trip to Target :) I love looking at your blog and seeing the adorable pictures of sweet Harper.

I *LOVE* all these comments of women whose heart is at home!!! I have been home for 12 years. We have had challenges financially, we have had times with just one car, we are currently in severe financial difficulty since my husband's company layed him off almost two years ago. BUT no matter what, I know this is where I belong. I do what I can from home to bring income in, and make my husband's income stretch as far as it can. God is good all the time! You will also be blessed by being home with precious Harper!!! This post & the comments is a great encouragement to all us stay at home moms!!! Blessings!

What an awesome job! Congrats!

I ran across this other blog this morning, and after following yours I know where to get Pray-ERS for this family:

I know you can't post all prayer requests, but I just wanted to put this out there because this family's prayer request is URGENT! This girl is 24 weeks pregnant and was on a business trip in Washington and her water broke. She is now stuck in a hospital in WA trying to delay labor, while her 17 month old is 400 some miles away. They said they cannot fly her to a different hospital (closer to home), so it looks like they will be there for a WHILE. Please lift them up! They need prayer warriors right now big time!!

Thanks!

Stay at home mom is such a misnomer cause you never really get a chance to be at home (after a certain age) and then you WISH you could STAY in one place!

Enjoy the promotion! It's tiring, and sometimes drives you nuts, but it's the most fulfilling job there is, I know it's so cliche, but it's so true!

I have been reading your blog since a friend asked me to pray when Harper was so critical... Well, having never left a comment before, I just had to comment this time! Stay at Home Mom is the BEST job you will ever have... I was a stay at home mom until my kids went to high school and I went to work at the same high school. You will be so blessed by your decision to be the Stay at Home Mom that God called you to be! The BONUSES will just keep rolling in and the BLESSINGS will be too numerous to count... But I have a feeling you already know this... GOD BLESS YOU!

You only get this time with her, once - enjoy it. :-)

Kelly,
I really am so happy for you that God has blessed your family in this way. I was so pleased when I clicked over and read this because I literally JUST finished blogging about how I have to return to work on Monday and NEED prayer badly! Perhaps you and Harper can set up a "business meeting" with our Father on monday to say a prayer for Asher and I?
I hope you two have the best time, as I know you will!!!

For some reason, your entry just brought tears to my eyes. Maybe it reminded me of how much I miss my three small kids right now... I've been working so much to provide for my family... but, just a whiff of my daughters sour sweaty hair made me feel full of love. She and her "boys" her brothers played all day with Daddy at the park and were so full of fresh air and JOY.

God has given you such a gift... to sacrifice yourself for a child... embrace the beauty and get dirty... ENJOY!!!

Kelly - I am sure after 678 comments you will not read 679, but I stay at home and it is the hardest thing in the world and the best thing in the world. So glad you decided to do it! I was wondering if you would go back to work. It took me 3 1/2 years to get pregnant, and when I finally had two in 20 months....I just couldn't leave them. I never went back after my first!

You are going to love being a stay-at-home mom! I quit teaching after our second daughter was born (and just after earning my master's degree) and now we have three girls (Ages 5, 3, and 4 1/2 months). There are days when life is stressful and days when life gets monotonous, but "real" jobs can be that and more. I always say that jobs will always be there, but my kids are only little once. I love being able to raise them myself with my values, being able to do things, big and small, with them, and just being there each day too experience their lives. It is such a blessing to be able to stay at home. I am so happy for you!

Oh Kelly! I just got home from Spring Break and am catching up on your posts. I am so happy you'll be able to stay home with Harper...you pay will now be hugs and kisses...and it will be the best salary you've ever gotten. Staying home is such a gift and it's true what they say..."it does go SO fast." I had my first 9 lb. bundle of joy 13 years ago TODAY...and I can't believe it. Makes me cry typing that. Enjoy!
