Stamps visit

This weekend Scott's parents and grandmother came for a visit. I didn't think to take any pictures to add to this post. We had a good time. I cooked dinner for us on Friday night. They got here about 6:30. Saturday morning Scott and his dad went fishing (but didn't catch anything). We ate a good BBQ lunch and then Judy and I went hit a few stores around town. We went and devoured steak at Does that night. This morning we went to church and then came home and ate lunch and it was time for them to go.
Tonight was children's night at church. It was fun to hear about VBS and their camp. We also had a guest singer - Lindsey Kane - she was very talented and very funny/crazy.
It's been a nice weekend - over too soon.

Blessed be the name

I have gone through something this week that has put me through a roller coaster of emotions. Even though it has been a very difficult day - it has made me realize a few things.
1. I have a wonderful husband who is so sweet and supportive. He is one of my biggest blessings.
2. Scott and I have been blessed with a great number of wonderful friends and family. When something bad happens - it is comforting to have people who are there for you. I don't think they realize how much just a simple phone call can mean.
3. It is amazing how God prepares you for things that you have to walk through. For the last few weeks - I have been at conferences and heard sermons that all centered around trusting God. And I have such a peace right now in my situation because I truly am trusting God. He has never forsaked me yet and I know he never will. I also knows that He knows the plans He has for me - plans to give me a hope and future.
This song has been going through my head all day - because for once I feel like I CAN truly praise God even in my suffering - not just when everything is perfect.

Blessed be Your name
When the sun's shining down on me
When the world's 'all as it should be'
Blessed be Your name

Blessed be Your name
On the road marked with suffering
Though there's pain in the offering
Blessed be Your name

Every blessing You pour out
I'll turn back to praise
When the darkness closes in, Lord
Still I will say

Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your name
Blessed be the name of the Lord
Blessed be Your glorious name

Little D

Yesterday we kept our friend's baby for a few hours while they went to the lake. We enjoyed having her. She is such a happy baby. We watched Baby Einstein and took a few walks and played with toys and Dawson. Last night we went to our neighbor's house for a little cookout. It was also fun. Posted by Picasa

T.G.I.F.

This is the first weekend since summer began that I have no real plans and I'm going to just get to stay home. I'm so excited. My house needs some serious cleaning - it has been very neglected. I can sleep a little later than 6 for once. It should be a good weekend. We are babysitting for a while on Saturday for our friends and I'm very excited about that. Other than that - it should be a very carefree and relaxing weekend. And hopefully it will be a little bit cooler.
Have a good weekend!

"That's All"

Last night I went to the movies with Julie, Laurie and Isabel to see "The devil wears prada". It was very cute. I had read the book so I was excited to finally see it. I am glad to say that I have never had a boss anywhere that bad. ha! My job was looking pretty good after watching that! :-)
Stay cool - it's hot out there!!!!!

Weekend

We had such a good weekend!
I went to the "gathering in the ozarks" women conference Friday night and Saturday morning. It was wonderful! Priscilla Shirer, Tony Evan's daugher, was the speaker and she was GREAT! And Travis Cottrell did the music and it was just FABULOUS! Sat morning - right next door they were also having the Democratic Women's Convention for AR and Hillary Clinton was the speaker. I almost walked into the wrong room in the morning. Whoops!
Saturday night we went with the Ormons and the Greens to "across the creek". Laurie and I had gone there on a blind date about 7 or 8 years ago and we remembered the food being good but the place was a dump. (we also both got dumped after that date. ha!) So we went. It was a LOT dumpier than we remembered and the food was HORRIBLE. So we felt bad for dragging everyone out but it gave us something that I'm pretty sure we'll be laughing about for a long time.
Today Travis and his praise team had the whole morning service and it was so good! It was a very moving worship service for me. And then on the last song, the man sitting behind us had some kind of seizure or passed out and it was very scary. I stood up and yelled for the doctor in our church. He ended up being okay I think but it was quite a commotion.
We went back to church tonight and sat with our friends and it was another good service.
All in all - it was a GREAT weekend! Hope yours was too!

Summertime

There isn't much to post about during the week. Most days we go to work, come home, eat dinner eventually, watch a little TV or exercise, check our e-mail and go to bed. Exciting, huh? LOTS to write about.
Last night we shook it up a little bit and went out to eat with 2 of our favorite friends. We had a good summer dinner of BBQ and ice cream. yum! Very healthy! But it was a nice break to the week. Tonight I have Bible Study with the girls from my SS class. We are doing an inductive study of Epheisans and our leader is teaching us a study on "Hats of the Harried Woman". Each time we meet she talks to one of our hats. Last time was the "wife hat". This time is the "Friend/daughter hat".
While I'm gone - Scott is going fishing with a friend. I'm sure he'll have fun.
You have to love summer!

Dallas Part 1

This weekend I went with my parents to Dallas to visit my brother. We had a great weekend. We ate a lot of food, did a lot of shopping and toured around Dallas thanks to my brother the great tour guide. My mom's birthday was Saturday and I think she had a really good one. Saturday night we ate dinner at this really neat Latin Restaurant with Chris' girlfriend and her family. It was the "meeting of the parents" and it went really well. They are a really nice family. This morning we went to Plano to see my grandparents for a little while and then we came back. They dropped me off a couple of hours ago and headed to Flippin.

Movie

Scott is going with a few guys tonight to the movies to see "Nacho Libre". I could not be happier for 2 reasons - I'm glad he has a good group of guys to hang out with and also I'm so glad I don't have to go see that. Plus all the wives are going in a week or 2 to see " The devil wears prada" and I'm sure all the husbands are more than happy to stay home and keep the babies/dogs instead of being dragged to that.
I'm leaving tomorrow for Dallas with my parents. My brother has asked them to come this weekend to meet his girlfriends parents. Should be very exciting! I think we are all hoping for some "special news" while we are there. It's also my mom's birthday on Saturday so it will be a fun family weekend. Scott is staying behind to tend to the yard and Dawson.

God Bless America

Happy Independence Day! Today has been a nice day. We worked around the house and Scott cleaned his car. It rained most of the day on and off. We went over to a friends house tonight with 3 other couples. We ate hamburgers and lots of dips and chips and dessert and played a fun game. Then we watched a few fireworks and lit sparklers. It was a fun fourth! Dominique and Emily were excited to be at the party!

Magnolia

We had a good time in Magnolia. We got there late on Friday night. Saturday Scott and his dad went fishing most of the morning. Some of Scott's relatives came for lunch and we had a good BBQ lunch. It was a very relaxing afternoon and night. We came home Sunday morning.
Yesterday I did a little shopping and then I met Laurie, Hillary and Emily at chick'fil'a for lunch. We had a good time. Last night Scott and I ate at Outback. We had planned to go see "Click" but by the time we got to the movies they were putting up the "sold out" sign. So we just came home and hung out (after making a quick trip to Wal-Mart).
