The week of Thanksgiving

I know we are in full swing of Christmas but I wanted to go back and blog the last few weeks of November.  The week of Thanksgiving was a really busy but really good one at our house.

On the Wednesday the week before we had "friendsgiving" with preteens.  I serve with 5th and 6th graders on Wednesday nights and I love it.  My friend Crystal and I are the old moms who help.  Everyone else who helps is in their early 20's.  I'm completely amazed that these young adults give up their time to come hang out with kids.  And it's so great for these kids to have these young adults who AREN'T parents - loving on them.  What a gift!

We had about 60 kids show up that night and everyone brought food.  It was so much fun!

There are a ton of 5th grade girls and Hollis has made some great friends! I'm so thankful for that!

On Friday Scott and Will Holden drove to south Arkansas to spend the week deer hunting with Steve and my FIL.  While they were gone we had a few days of "girly fun".  Hollis had her first slumber party.  She had three of her best friends over.  They are the sweetest group of girls.  They were SO LOUD. And giggly.   I loved it.

The next morning we headed to church to serve by helping with Blessing Baskets.  We prepared big boxes of food for 1600 families in our area.

There were so many people helping and I could have cried big tears just seeing so many people so happily serving and doing something that mattered together.

And one of my favorite things is showing my kids how fun it is to serve.

I ended up on the trash team with my friend Angela and bunch of pastors.  We broke down boxes and then took a zillion rides on the truck to empty it all in the dumpster.

I seriously had the BEST time!

Meanwhile this little guy was having so much fun on his first hunting trip!

Saturday night the girls and I headed to the square to eat dinner and go to the lighting of the square.

If you see me talk about Bentonville, you know we live in a Hallmark movie.  Our square is so pretty at Christmas and walking around will make you think you are in Stars Hollow.

The lighting of the square was a little bananas because it felt like we were at Disney there were so many people.  But it was a lot of fun!

I love hanging with these two.

Sunday we headed to church and then we helped a little more with the Blessing Baskets.  Harper had fun hanging out with her friends.

Then we went downtown to ice skate.

Harper has made the BEST friends at church.  I'm so thankful.

I worked Monday - Wednesday.  Harper had two of her best friends come over and they had a two night slumber party.  They keep the girls company while I worked.

Scott came home on Wednesday and my family all came that day to celebrate Thanksgiving.  I will save that for the next post.  I drove home from work one day and the sky was pink and purple behind the lights.  I had to stop and take a picture.  I drive through the square every night coming home from work and it is alway a highlight.
