Summer Shenanigans

Summer is made for friends, slumber parties, swimming, popsicles, and lazy days.

And we have been making the most of it.

Last week the girls had a double sleep over with their best friends.  We went swimming all afternoon and then came to play and eat dinner and then I took the girls to the square to get ice cream.

I also took "best friend" pictures.  These two have been friends since the baby nursery.  They adore each other.

And these two had no choice but to be best friends.  They are cousins and besties since the womb.

A bunch of fake smiles in this one.  They wanted ice cream - not their pictures made. ha! It doesn't hurt that their moms are my best friends.  :-)

I've had a lot of quality time with these three.  And I've loved it.

We have had slow lazy days and late nights.  And I have loved it.  I love for the kids to get "bored".  It's a good contrast for our usual crazy busy days.

One day when they were bored, I remembered I had packed away some of their Christmas gifts so they would have something to play with on rainy or very hot days.  They broke out some board games and had a good time playing.

Saturday night we took the kids to Big Orange to eat.  It was our first time and it was SO good.  Then we got frozen yogurt.  Harper has seemed so grown up this summer.  She's just maturing so quickly.

Red and white and ready for church.  (Will Holden hates shoes.  I keep his "shoe closet" in my car.  I just put on shoes right before we go somewhere. )

Our Sunday School class we teach had a bunch of cotton topped towheaded boys in it.  I had to get a picture.  That one in the middle was thrilled.

The ministry I work part time for, Tangible Truth Ministries, put on a conference Sunday night about the Enneagram.  I have been working on this for months so I'm so thankful it went well and that it's over!

My friend Ashley Lancaster's sister was in town and she got to come.  It was sweet to meet her.  She is as beautiful as Ashley is.

Jenn Jett spoke that night.  She was so great.  I feel like everyone knows Jenn and we have a ton of friends in common so I was excited to finally meet her in person!

Our main speaker was Ian Cron, he is the author of "The Road Back to You".  He was SO interesting and funny.  I wish he could have spoke longer.

Yesterday I tried to do my first fishtail braid.  I love how it looks!

I took the kids and their friend Joseph bowling yesterday morning.

And then we hit Chuy's for lunch.

Side note - I think Hollis looks SO darling but she said her outfit looks like a boy.  I think because it's a polo shirt and Joseph is always wearing polo shirts.  ha ha!

We ended our day at the walk in clinic.  Harper has been fighting swimmers ear all summer.  I had to get her checked out.  I think wearing her hearing aids keeps the water in when she swims all the time.  And then it hurts to wear her hearing aids.  It's a vicious cycle.

My girls are headed off today with my parents for a week.  Will Holden is going to be an only child for the week - I'm sure he will love it.
