Show us Your life - Favorite Charities

We are entering the holiday season which is a season of giving.  I think it's also a time when we think about giving to others. Or I hope we do.

I have something AWESOME that I'm SOOOOOOOOOO (can I get a few O's in there) excited about that I'm going to tell you about in a few weeks. It's a way we as a community here in this little blog world can work together to make a difference. It's an answer to a prayer that I have been praying and thinking about for a while! I'll tell you all about it soon and I am pretty sure you are going to want to join me! (I promise - it's not going to even hurt!)

But today is all about your favorite charities.  I think sometimes we are looking for ways to get involved or help but we just don't know how. Or the choices can be overwhelming.  So maybe sharing about who we are passionate about helping will prompt some of you to get involved.

Our family supports several organizations outside of tithing and giving to ways locally that our church does to help our community.

If you know me - you know I love what Compassion is doing.  I have been on two trips with Compassion and I have seen them in action so I feel strongly that what they are doing is awesome and that your money is REALLY being used wisely and making a HUGE difference.

I love the Operation Christian Child project. This is one I haven't personally been involved with because our church does something different that I work with but my mom is very involved with this and I know how passionately she feels about it.

Locally here in Arkansas - we support the Arkansas Children's Home. This is a home where kids from bad homes can come and live and they have house parents who take them in and love them and become a family to them. I think most states probably have something similar.  My dad was on the board of trustees for a while and I love what they are doing.  I try to give to them instead of Mother's day, father's day, birthdays or Christmas gifts in honor of family members.  I wish all kids could grow up in loving homes but since they can't - I want to help in a small way so they can.
