"Special Ears"

* NOTE - tomorrow's SUYL will be up sometime in the afternoon and will be up over the weekend. This week has just done me in so I'm behind.

I'm pretty sure I'm the most tired I've ever been in my life. I got up at 4:30 this morning to drive the girls to Little Rock.  Traveling alone with two small kids including one nursing baby is an adventure.  We made it just in time for our appointment at Arkansas Children's.  And I just got home not too long ago. I did want to give you a little update.
I've been telling Harper she was getting her "special ears" today.  Our amazing audiologist, Jan, talked me through everything I needed to know about hearing aids while a speech therapist evaluated Harper's speech.  We are thrilled to death because we were told Harper's speech is in the normal range and she doesn't even qualify for speech therapy.  They think the hearing aids will make all the difference she needs.  I'm SO thankful. SO thankful! I cried when she told me. She also told me Harper was a REALLY good lip reader.
Harper did not LOVE her aids.  I was hoping to get some neat video but she basically kept pulling them out.  It's going to take some work to fight her strong will and get her to wear them but I'm going to try and try and try some more. I hope eventually she will take to wearing them.
We were there for several hours and then we went to eat lunch at the Purple Cow. (Where I ran into a friend from college and a blog reader. Small world!) I was SOOOOOO thankful that my parents could meet me and help. Scott couldn't get away from work and I don't think I could have handled the girls by myself at the appointment. They helped me SO much!

And I just have to add that exactly one year ago today I got the surprise of my life and found out I was pregnant! I didn't even know after Harper if I would be able to have any more children and didn't know if I would ever be ready and God showed me once again that He is in control (NOT me!)  I can't imagine my life without this smiley, precious baby.  She and her sister are both the lights of my life! I am so thankful to be blessed twice.
