Dancing Queen

This morning I started a new Bible Study at my church. They offered two different ones (No Beth Moore this time) and I wasn't sure which one I would do. I ended up in the one I did mostly because most of my friends were going to it. Well - God knew where I needed to be. It's called "Lord, Change my Attitude" by James MacDonald and so far I LOVE it. BOY was I convicted. The first chapter is all on complaining and on how sad and angry that makes God to hear His children grumbling after all He has done for us. I was all fired up to write a book on the topic when I left this morning but right now I'm just too tired. Needless to say - the finger was pointing straight at me. I like to think I have a positive attitude and a thankful heart but I also know I'm guilty at complaining. And I have no right to. God has blessed me so much! Just sending His son to die on the cross for my sins should be ENOUGH!
I was very tickled when I picked up Harper and they told me she had a great day and had been so happy and had been helping them pick up things and playing so well. She was in a wonderful mood when I got her. It made my momma heart so happy. Of course - she would NOT nap. So we ended up going to Sam's and then I talked to Laurie and they were headed to dance lessons so we decided to go watch Emily in action.

Emily is QUITE the dancer! I had a great time watching her!
Harper had so much fun watching the "big girls" dance - she was laughing and clapping her hands! I'm not wishing any time away but I really can't wait until she is this age and can take dance. These girls were precious!
Then we had to go pick up this little handsome fellow because he had gotten groomed today. He wanted to look nice for his little sister's birthday!

Well - I'm off to mop some floors and work on projects! Hope you have a great night!

So when I read this through at first I thought you had written "I was so very ticked when I picked Harper up..." and it just wasn't making any sense. Ha Ha. Glad you weren't ticked. Isn't great when they make us proud? Enjoy! She's precious.

I am a long time reader of your blog and was led to comment for the first time. Your bible study is something I need. Your commenting on it makes me realize that I should not be complaining like I do. I am blessed with healthy children and my hubby and I have great jobs and good health. Wanted to thank you for your reminder! :)

Such cute ballerinas! Your friendship with Laurie sounds like just thing thing we all need. Makes me thankful for my friend Monica who always says 'come over!' at the right moments. :)

Our ladies' Bible studies kicked off today, too - I'm taking one called "Divine Surrender". Definitely need to become better at that!

By the way, I love it that you're blogging more for yourself this year. Here's to a great year of peace for your family and to God's work in the areas you mentioned in an earlier post!

Your new Bible study sounds great! I think we could all use a lesson like that. :) I am anxious for the day we have children and they are first at Harper's cute stage, and next, doing things like little Emily! Love her bows!

My daughter turned 3 in September and this is her first year of ballet and tap. It is hilarious because the girls are so uncoordinated, but they try SO hard and have such a good time!

Thanks for sharing everyday, I love checking in on you and Harper :).

I wanted to share a verse I am memorizing this month that deals w/ this topic...it has helped to refocus my mind/thoughts on what is important..hope it helps you

"Do everything without complaining or arguing so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe,"
Phil. 2:14-15

Thanks again for sharing!!!

PS. Harpes is a cutie pie!!!

Harper is adorable. Have a wonderful time celebrating Saturday!

I need that book!! I am like you...I feel so very blessed each and every day and feel as though I do have a thankful heart...yet I do find myself complaining often. And I may not be complaining out loud all of the time (although my husband would probably disagree!), but sometimes I am thinking it. Thanks for convicting me today...I will think before I complain =) Here's to an awesom attitude today!!

I love it! I can't wait until Lauren can take dance either. I think it will be so much fun to dress the girls up in tutu and leotards :) Too bad our girlies can't take dance together!

Your Bible sounds like it would fit my life, as well. It dawned on me while talking on the phone last night that I was complaining about the most unimportant things, and that I had no reason to!

Thank you for the reminder!

I need that reminder about complaining! I went to a similar bible study once. I think I need to review that one again!

I had never noticed that Harper has green/hazel eyes! So pretty!

Here in the River Valley dance classes start at 18 months. Little Bit just turned 4 in Sept and had her first ballet class last week. Wish we could've started her earlier but she just had too many other things going. Harper is such a doll and will be in dance class before you know it!!!

Your bible study sounds great! I need to remember to stop my grumbling. Jesus dying for our sins is definitely enough!

I know you get hundreds and hundreds of comments but God has been laying it on my heart to share with you that you have been such a testament of faith to me through your blog. I have been struggling this past year with my faith and "getting back to basics"

Thank you for your encouragement and positive witness to all of your readers. Your cup runneth over with blessings, girl! :)

I left you a little shout out on my blog. Have a wonderful day!

Blessings,
Heidi

Oh! My Mom did a ladies Bible Study at her church with that book and got me a copy and I LOVED it too!! It is so convicting I felt like I needed a LOT of time in between chapters to work on things :) It was also great to transfer the topics to my kids and reteach it to them on their level. Enjoy it!

Awww, that's so sweet! My own baby girl (now 16) has been taking dance lessons since she was three. Besides taking hours of classes a week herself, she assists in a couple of the younger classes (we call them twinkle toes!).

Kelly, I've just got to tell you that lately I've been going through some hard times in my life, but I visit your blog every day just to see Harper's sweet little face, and to hear about what y'all have been up to.

Jennie said...

I love your blog! And Harper, she is too cute for words.

KW said...

I am a new reader (and will soon be follower :) ) and LOVE your blog! I loved this post, you are especially right about how we think things are so tough sometimes and wonder what God is doing in the midst of all of it when Jesus is ENOUGH. It's enough that He sent us His son to die and reconcile us for our sins ... and we moan and complain about a few tough days ... AMEN sister!

And OMGoodness, I can't handle little girls in tutus/ballerina gear. TOO CUTE FOR WORDS! And your pup is such a handsome boy. Aren't boy dogs just the BEST? :)

Okay, that was a mouthfull of a comment! Have a great day!

I started the new version of Beth Moore's "Breaking Free" this morning. I am so looking forward to identifying the strongholds in my life and laying them at the feet of Jesus! The intro talked about how we should live an EFFECTIVE life for Christ. I know you have struggled recently with the overall direction of your blog; how encouraging is it that there are people (that may otherwise never hear the truth of Christ) prompted to read the word of God just because you started a new Bible study this morning? Your real everday life posts of how you love your husband and family, how you are a great mother and friend, and even of how you struggle - but with strength and faith that can only come from God - are a great example to others. That's more of a witness than most of us will ever be...and that's EFFECTIVE! Keep up the good work :)

I dunno if u read ur comments.. here's hoping u do =) I have a 16month old son and he is so mean to me.. well, he sometimes acts real mean to me.. like when he grabs for something he can't have and I take it or when he tries to climb the chair and I take him down.. he grunts at me and swats his hand towards me.. but the past couple of days he's actually hitting me!! I tell him "No hit!" but he just keeps doing it. Does Harper have a temper like that or is it just me?! LOL

Toohey-what kind of a comment is that? What is your problem? I hope your IP address is blocked from this blog-leave Kelly, Harper, Scott and all their readers out of your issues.

What does Haiti have to do with a baby's first birthday? It is a tragedy-but has nothing to do with the party.

Harper-enjoy every second of your birthday!
