Nine Months

Harper - you are NINE months old today!

What are you up to these days???

  • You weigh 18 lbs and 12 oz (50th percentile)
  • You are 28.5 inches long (75th percentile)
  • You wear a size 3 diaper
  • You are wearing 9 months clothes but I'm putting you in 12 months also
  • You just started eating table food - you have tried peaches, pears, bananas, sweet peas, carrots, chicken (hated it), cheese and avocados. You have a GREAT appetite. You eat 3 good solid meals a day and several snacks. You are really only nursing about 3-4 times a day (and several times at night but I'm trying to break you of that).
  • You take two naps a day (most days). You will sleep anywhere from 30 minutes to 2 hours.
  • Your night sleeping gets better some nights - almost 4-5 hour stretches! And then we will be back to getting up every 1-2 hours a lot of nights. (You have slept through the night 10 & 11 hours the past 2 nights!!!! I'm praying we have turned the corner!)
  • You have six teeth - two on top and four on the bottom
  • You are crawling and exploring EVERYWHERE!
  • You are pulling up constantly. You get so excited once you are standing up
  • You smile and laugh a LOT!
  • You HATE socks and shoes - I have the hardest time keeping anything on your feet - it's going to be a long winter. You rip them off immediately and I spend half my day putting them back on. ha!
  • You have suddenly decided you liked to be rocked. You never let me rock you before and now I can't put you in bed without rocking you first. I love it! I wish you would stay this size that fits so perfectly on my lap forever!
  • You talk CONSTANTLY. Especially when we are in the car or in a store and you are in your car seat or stroller. You just talk and babble. The only real word you say is "dad-da" but you seem to have a lot to say. I'm sure it won't be long until you are really talking and you will probably never stop!
  • When Daddy comes home every day you just kick your feet and squeal or jump up and down. You are a total daddy's girl!
  • You love to be on the go. You are SO easy to take shopping or in the car. You are always so content and happy if we are out doing something. You also do so great out in restaurants!

I thought just being pregnant with you and having you in my stomach and feeling you kick was enough fun and joy for a lifetime but the last nine months have been the best of my life.
YOU ARE MY JOY SWEET GIRL!

I love this comparison so I can see how you've grown. We had to give up on the sign this month!

P.S. Isn't Harper's shirt cute? A friend in my Sunday School class makes them and they are only $12! She has all kinds of cute Christmas designs. Here is just a sample....... Check it out at www.ifyousaysew.com and look under "other gift ideas". (use the e-mail button on the top left to order)

What a special collection of pictures at each stage and age! You will absolutely cherish these as the years go by, and unfortunately, they fly, sigh.

What a precious girl! It makes me thankful for such a loving and kind God. Kelly, thank you for your blog, I check it often and it gives me hope and comfort. I am still battling infertility myself, but know that my time will come when God intends it. Happy Halloween!

Her shirt is beyond precious...well, and of course she is too!

I can't believe how grown up she is getting!

Have a great weekend!

9 months already?! That just does not seem possible! Grace is the very same way with socks...and covers. She is so hot natured and hates having socks on and under the covers!!

We'll have to get the girls together for a play date!!

I love to read your monthly updates for Harper. Yes, isn't it amazing how much joy these little ones bring into our lives even in just the first nine months. I just had to make an appointment for 6 weeks from now and just realized that my daughter will be a year old in only 6 weeks! How did that much time fly by so quickly? Better get planning that party!

Hi Kelly, I can't believe Harper is already nine months old! Time flies. The photo array is so cute. Great idea. Her Halloween shirt is adorable. Your friend does a great job making the shirts. I guess the next time you blink, Harper will want the car keys. ha
Keeping you in my heart in Ga.

I love Harper's shirt and will be checking out the website for a Christmas one. My son was really bad about keeping his socks on at that age and still is. We bought him the target ministar slippers, they are just like the robeez, but cheaper and designed more for a wide foot :). He loves to wear those and it helps keep his socks on. Hope that helps.

From the first picture I thought you had given up the construction paper signs since she always messes with them, but then it popped up in the second picture! It's become tradition for her to play with it!

I love the socks!! They are too cute. My sister lives in Little Rock and just had a baby and I see all these cute ideas from you (and Harper) and I can't wait to send stuff to her and her Abby!!

I don't know if you are taking ideas for more "show us your..." but a fun idea might be favorite children's books. We could tell what ones meant the most to us as kids and ones we read to our children, nieces, nephews...and the like. There is nothing like a good children's book, and now that Harper is getting older she will only love books more!!

Love your blog
Amy

Adorable shirt! I will be looking for my girls!! I cannot believe she has so many teeth!! Lauren already has 2 but Rachel only had 4 teeth at 1 year! It's so funny to me...my friend's baby didn't get her FIRST tooth until she was like 15 months old!!! Harper's a cutie!

9 months is one of the best stages. They start to develop such a personality at this stage, yet they are still so sweet, and haven't turned into a "toddler" yet. She is adorable!

You are seriously so blessed to have so many wonderful, crafty women give you such lovely gifts all the time.

What a blessing.

she is too cute, she really lost some of her "baby look" this month and is starting to look like she's growing into the toddler phase. Enjoy your girl Kelly it goes too fast, my oldest is already 5 how did that happen????

Happy 9 months to Miss Harper! I really can't believe how fast the time has flown! Seems like just yesterday she was just a tiny baby!

I love Stephanie's stuff too. I will for sure be ordering some shirts for my girls soon!

Such a gorgeous little girl. I have a little girl a couple of months older than Harper. I lover her name by the way. Anyway, I was having the same problems keeping socks on my daughters feet (I'm from Australia so we have just come out of the winter) but I found Bobux. They are amazing and she could NEVER get them off her feet. They are so cute and have heaps of different styles. If you go to www.bobuxusa.com you should be able to find a retailer near you or an online store that sells them. If you end up getting some make sure you post a photo.... :)

Good job getting 2 nights of good sleep in little Harper!! I love rocking like you do Kelly and had the exact same thought when my baby Sienna was Harper's age and started letting me rock her :) For your socks and shoes issue, I had the same problem with both of my daughters and the best thing that worked for me was either robbies shoes which were too difficult for them to pull off (must buy the name brand though, the knock offs come right off!) or shoes that tied which I double knotted! Good luck this winter getting something she'll keep on!

Love reading your blog, as usual!

Sarah said...

I hope you are storing/archiving these posts to/about Harper for her to cherish the rest of her life because they are precious. Love how excited and happy she looks in the first pic. What a great age! :) Happy 3/4 birthday, sweet girl!

Happy 9 Months Harper!
I love reading your blog, you have such an ADORABLE little girl. My husband and I started trying to conceive about 3 months ago, hoping I can join the "mommy club" soon, but we are trusting God will send us a little one when he knows we can handle it! Keep us in your prayers!
P.S. I am from LA, why won't you cheer on LSU??

So cute! I love the idea of taking a picture every month. I will definitely remember that when I have children.

Amy said...

Hey...Harper's adorable! Reading this post, I realized I might have some great advice for you. My little girl (who's 2.5 now) would wake up every 2-3 hours to nurse until she was 10 months old. What finally happened and worked was me not getting up with her. My husband stepped up to the plate and started getting up with her when she awoke in the night. After about a week of not getting nursed (and her realizing there wasn't even the chance since I wasn't the one awake with her) she didn't wake up (or, at least, wake us up) one time. She slept through the entire night! It's a small sacrifice on dad's part, but a HUGE blessing for you.

I got the Santa Rocks t-shirts for my boys from another lady on ETSY and they were only $12 from her as well. I picked up a few other cute ones for my baby boy. Love Haper's little comparison photos. I started reading your blog right after Harper was born, and can't believe she is already 9 months! Time to start thinking of her 1st b-day party it will be here before you know it. I really do enjoy reading your blog, definitely one of my faves....

Sarah said...

Oh, this is adorable! We have a picture tradition for Josefine's month celebrations...she'll be 4 mos in a few weeks! Seeing your 9 photos all together makes me excited to see such a difference! But, I totally understand your sentiment about wanting baby to stay small enough to cuddle w/ on your lap! ...they grow sooo fast!

Carrie said...

Am I the only one having an issue with the website for the shirts? it looks like a wholesale site. I don't see an order button or prices. Cute shirts, but the website is confusing for ordering.

Kelley said...

Is she not a doll baby? I love her shirt. It is so cute!

Amanda said...

Harper is prescious. What I've been told by new mothers is the best they they ever did was photograph them each month next to something that is a consistent size. It is fun to see how they grow and change each month!

Claire said...

Oh, how I love these posts!

If and when I am ever lucky enough to be blessed with a family, I hope to do something similar!

Could Harper be any cuter? :) I love to hear about the new foods Harper is trying. I can't wait to head to the grocery store! My son is a few weeks younger and I get great suggestions from you! Thanks Kelly!

Oh, Kelly! What a beautiful doll baby!! She is adorable! I love her pictures! My daughter has done something very similar with my little grandson, Levi. His picture has been taken beside the same little Elmo on the first of each month. He'll be 1 on Dec. 1. It's amazing to see how he's grown! (Levi, not Elmo :) Levi says 5 words: Mama, Da-da, Bye!, Uh-oh, and Ee-i (Levi). Isn't that cute? He says his name Ee-i. Thanks for sharing sweet little Harper with us. She's precious!

Harper is soooo stinkin cute! I love that shirt! Thanks for sharing where ya got it! I have been looking for one for Christmas and the ones I have seen have been way more expensive.... I like the price on these.... Thanks :0)

Amber said...

I haven't read through all the comments so I don't know if someone else has suggested this yet or not. But have you tried Robeez or other similar shoes? They are REALLY hard for babies to get off their feet.

TRM said...

I am just still in awe of how much older she looks already!! Also, I can't believe that she is already nine months old! My oh my, where does the time go? I love her shirt too.

I'm so impressed with all of you ladies who can remember to document all of this monthly. I kept up with baby books (I bought the same one for all 3 so I knew what was coming!), and I've had some other projects, but wow! Kudos and what priceless memories!!

She gets cuter every day, Kelly and I LOVE the fact that you have all of her side by side photos to look at and compare her each month. Have a great weekend! GO HOGS!!!! :o)

HOLY CROW!! I'm watching your Hogs make it very difficult for Florida to pull out a W right now and as a Longhorn Fan (Plus one who just really dislikes Florida) I'M LOVING IT!

GO HOGS!!!!

Janice (5 Minutes for Mom) said...

Just beautiful!! Both Harper and your sweet post!

Isn't mother hoods just the most delicious thing ever?!?!?

Bethany and Brett said...

That was BOGUS! Florida only won because the officials handed them the game on their 2nd to last drive with some generously placed balls and ridiculous pentalies against the HOGS.

I feel for you in your loss...but in my mind they should've won for sure!

Beth said...

As a Gator fan watching the game today, I was thinking about how excited your family must have been. Those Hogs should hold their heads high, they played a great game!

Not sleeping all night is SO hard! I hope it is getting better. The Prince finally started sleeping all night at 9 months, so maybe Harper will too!!!

Sonya said...

Those shirts are adorable and I cannot believe that Harper is 9 months old already!!!

Jen said...

I am a seasoned mama of four and I have one suggestion about the socks and shoes: go get her her first pair of sweet walking shoes from stride rite. Lace 'em good and she'll be good to go!! They are adorable with little ruffly socks and maybe some pink bells to stuff the laces in--so you'll always know where she is!! :-)

Kelly
I read your cute Harper post on all her accomplishments (and her lack of love for socks and shoes:-)

Im sure you and your shopping habit already know if these, but if not, you MUST find Robeez shoes. I discovered them with my 5th baby and wish Id known of them with my other four.
In addition to ADORABLE, they are fashioned in a way that makes it VERY hard for baby to take off. Plus they are all leather (no hard soles) so good for these tiny feet learning to walk.

From one mom to another:-)
Blessings
Mandy

I highly recommend Robeez shoes. They actually stay on and are just like not wearing shoes. Good luck!

Harper is so cute!!!! Just wanted to let you know about some socks I saw this weekend at Target. They are supposed to be really hard for little ones to get them off. they have this little velcor piece that you move at the heel. I have not tried them yet but thought I would share. They had them in some cute designs.

Mrs. Jenk said...

Hi Kelly-

Have you tried mandarin oranges? They are sweet, easy to eat and travel well in the little snack cups. My daughter eats them up!
