I heart Dates

Friday was a fun but busy day!
I have made a new blog friend, Emily. She is from the same area from me (grew up about 15 minutes away). She had her wedding reception where I had my wedding rehearsal dinner. We both went to OBU (Ouachita) and were Tri Chis (our sorority) only she graduated 10 years after me. She came through town yesterday and we met for lunch! We ate at Rick's Bakery. Who knew they served lunch??? I'm going to start eating there about once a week - it was good (sandwiches - yum turkey with artichoke), cheap and you get a complimentary dessert (chocolate pie yesterday). Any takers???
Emily invited 4 of her Tri Chi college roommates that all were in the area to come to lunch with us just so I wouldn't be scared she was crazy. ha ha ha ha! I had actually looked at her wedding pictures on our Friday tour and realized I knew two of her bridesmaids through a friend. Small world. So I had fun eating with Emily, Brittany, Christin, Audra, and Lesley. And Harper enjoyed flirting with Emily's little boy Miles (seriously she was smiling at him and grabbing his hair - the girl is out of control) and meeting another future tri chi, Hannah. (I forgot my camera so I took these awful pictures with my phone but I still had to share them).
When we got home - my parents were at my house waiting for us! They had called and wanted to come see Harper and offered to spend the night and babysit so Scott and I could have a date! I am so thankful they are willing to come over and let us have some alone time! We really needed it! We missed Harper so much but I think it was a lift to just spend time alone.
Harper is so crazy about her daddy and he feels the same about her! I'm pretty sure we couldn't imagine our life without her.
She and I are pretty nuts about each other too!
My parents got to see that Harper is sitting by herself now. She sits a little bit longer every day!
This is what my parents looked like when we left. We had put Harper to bed and they settled on the couch with their Macs. We are a family of computer nerds. In fact, I told Scott we were such an old married couple because between dinner and the movie - we had about an hour and a half. We walked around the mall some but then we ended up just sitting and both us of were checking our Iphones. Pitiful. But I did find out what was going on at home because I had two e-mails alerting me that my parents had set up Twitter accounts. I never thought I would see the day when my parents would both be "tweeting" and blogging. ha ha ha! I remember when they were resistant to call waiting and cell phones. ha!
(of course times have changed - I don't think I had my own phone (in my room) until I was maybe a junior in high school and I was 21 before I had a cell phone (and it was in a HUGE bag that had to stay in the car) and I was 26 when I finally got my own computer. Kids these days have NO idea). ha ha ha!
Here we are before we left for our date! Thanks for all the suggestions. We were going to eat at Table Mesa Bistro - this great little place on our town square but it was First Friday or something and they were having an outdoor concert on the square and the place was packed. It would been fun but hot so we detoured and went to Abuelo's. And we saw "The Proposal". I thought it was cute.
Now we are enjoying a quiet Saturday. Harper is napping and I'm thinking about cleaning out our closet. Notice I said "thinking". Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...... I'm also thinking about just relaxing a little bit before I dive into laundry and a trip to Sam's before I cook dinner tonight. I love weekends, don't you?

I'm so glad you had a good date night! My hubby and I are trying to enjoy all the time we have together before December when we have our first baby. I just love all the pictures you share of Harper! She's adorable. All the big bows & flower headbands that she wears have inspired me to have our little girl wear them too! I've already started buying up. :)

Have a great rest of the weekend!

Date nights are the best!!! Way too few and far between around my house, but when they happen they are divine!!! Our last date was dinner out and seeing "The Proposal" too!

How fun that Harper is sitting up! We're working on getting Riley to walk. He's almost one. He totally can do it, he just won't! My daughter got him to take some steps though today by tying all his pacis to a ribbon and luring him with them. It was SO funny!

Have a great weekend!

I'm so glad you had fun on your date night! My husband and I have twin 4 month old girls, so it's very nice to get out once in a while! You know, when you don't get to go out very often, it makes you appreciate the times that you get to! It's very important to keep our marriages strong so we can keep our whole family strong! We're having a quiet Saturday too...I'm thinking of organizing my kitchen cabinets! Ahhhh!!! Have a good rest of the weekend Kelly!

Yes...weekends are awesome! I think I look more forward to weekends being a stay at home Mommy than I did when I worked forever ago!

Love a relaxing, no-plans Saturday. I was up with the chickens this morning baking some, and I am cleaning now...even my 7 year old said it sure felt good to have a half-clean house :) Bless her heart!

Have a wonderful rest of the weekend...looking forward to the Lord's Day around here!

I'm glad you had fun on your date! My husband and I are lucky enough to have both sets of grandparents close by to watch our kids. Sometimes its hard to leave them, but we just remember that we only have the kids for 18 years, and we need to make sure we can still connect when they're gone!

Harper is so cute!

Is that a glo worm Harper has? So cute!
I heart dates, too. We are celebrating 11 years this month & I hope we get a date.
We have to replace our carpet ... so I'm about to tackle our closet, too. Hope yours is cleaner than ours!
Have a great Saturday!

Yes, I love weekends. It is so pretty in East Tn. today but it is soooo hot. I still enjoyed being out and running around town and driving by the lake. We are grilling out tonight and just relaxing.

Have a great weekend!

Is Rick's Bakery the place that sells fruit filled cakes? My dad's parents are from Gentry, Arkansas (they lived right across from the Little Debbie factory) & my grandma loved getting cakes from someplace about an hour away. It was a German bakery. It might not be the same place, but it sounds yummy!
Glad ya'll are having a good weekend.

Your little girl gets cuter by the day.

Keep going out whenever you can! My husband and I love our dates, infrequent as they can be. Even if we don't get to have date nights out, we often have date nights in, when we put the kids to bed and order takeout. Then we watch a movie or play a game or just spend time talking to each other with no distractions. It's such a marriage boost!

Sign me up for a Rick's lunch outing. Turkey & artichoke sounds wonderful!

On one of our very long drives, Mike's cell phone battery died & he couldn't facebook. I thought he was going to get the shakes.

Your parents and their computers crack me up. My 70 year old mom is addicted to facebook...she calls it her computer ministry...and she really does use it to encourage people but it cracks us up. (You have a blogging ministry, you know).

Anyway...my mom tweets too. My in laws on the other hand don't own a computer and have never EVER used an ATM card. They go inside the bank...every time and talk with someone face to face.

I think my mom scares them. :)

Oh my goodness I LOVE Rick's. I personally think it is a little slice of heaven on Earth. It is so good that we don’t have one in Bentonville or I would eat there daily!

My daughter has that same green dress and Glow worm! I love the dress because it's so soft and comfy and so cheap, too! She loves that glow worm, everytime I turn it on, she grabs for it and tries to eat it's face! haha

I'm glad you guys had a great date night. It really sounds like you had a good time. I loved The Proposal, I've seen it twice.

Oh by the way...I love the picture of you and your husband, you guys look so happy together!

I think Date nights should be REQUIRED for parents!! We haven't been on a date in a LONG time! Being a military family and living so far away from relatives makes it hard to go out!!! It's hard to trust non-relatives with your kids!!!

Your parents remind me of that comercial on TV!!! The one with the kids complaining to them about updating their twitter so much!!! LOL!!! I can't remember what it was for, but I cracked up when I saw it!!! I can NEVER picture either of my parents with Twitter or Facebook! Though, my mom has a Myspace that she hasn't signed in to in over 2 years!!!

Glad you enjoyed your date! Harper is adorable!

My son who is three months just wore the batteries out of the same glow worm Harper has! He loves it and it helps me to get him to enjoy his tummy time :-) Sounds like a wonderful date you had!

I have to say that I love how Harper poses for pictures! It's so cute that in the picture of the 2 of you and your new bloger friend she is perked up, smiling and looking at the camera! I wish my daughter would do that, sometimes it's all she can do to get away from the camera!LOL! :)

Date nights are so precious but isn't it funny that inevitably you end up talking about your kid the whole time??? I used to fight it but now it's like, "Well, you love them too and they're OURS so I guess it's okay!" I'm glad you liked The Proposal. I loved it!

They have the best soups, salads, and sandwiches, and you have to love the dessert!
