Weekend

So how was your weekend??? I hope you had a good one. We are experiencing a cool front in July here in Arkansas and it felt like fall to me all weekend. It was in the high 70's with no humidity - I kept thinking I should put the car flags on our car and head to a football game.

The highlight of our Saturday was picking up our barstools. I LOVE them. I'll post more pictures of our made over room soon. I'm waiting on a new rug I ordered and a few other details but I am super happy with the bar stools - and they are VERY comfy! Yeay! (and for all of you who asked - I got them at I O Metro).
Today was kind of hectic. We went to church and the worship service today was SO great! I just really felt the presence of God this morning. And then it happened. Our church (like many others) has these electronic things on the wall and if your child is screaming in the nursery - they will flash up your number as a sign that you need to come check on your baby. Well - right in the middle of the sermon - my 4 numbers popped up. ha! Harper was just hungry and gassy. Her tummy has been out of sorts for about a week - but I think she finally got some relief this afternoon! yeay! And then right after church - Scott and I filmed a video to show during August for Sunday School Emphasis Month. We shared about how much our Sunday School Class meant to us while we were in the hospital with Harper.
I have to encourage you - if you go to church (or if you don't) and you feel sometimes like you just go in and leave each Sunday and don't really feel apart of a "church family" - PLEASE find a Sunday School Class (or life group or whatever your church calls it) and join. I promise you will not be sorry. We have made the best friends in our class and have grown so much in our faith because of the last 5 years we have spent in our couple's class.
So after church - we met up with Laurie and Steve at a local restaurant for the Sunday Lunch buffet. (Do you notice that Scott gave himself a summer "do" while I was in Texas?)

Scott took a break from P90X to enjoy the dessert buffet. ha! (or was that my plate?)
I ran home and got Harper down for a nap and went to a baby shower at church. My friend Caryn is expecting Sophia in 3 weeks (or less!) The adorable cookies - I LOVE the baby shoes!
I got these petit fours - her nursery is pink, green, and tiger stripe!
Jessica and her sister Jennifer
All the great baby gifts
Caryn (the expectant mom), Leah, and Rachel
Beautiful Rachel is pregnant with #3! (I think in this picture it looks like I'M the one who is pregnant! ha!)
Laurie and Erin and Erin's sweet baby Kinley (Harper's nursery friend)
I have to share two cute things I recieved for Harper this week. Isn't this so cute? It's called a Gummie Doll - it's for Harper to teeth on and hold. I think it's SO cute - love the colors.
And I got this cute bow holder for Harper's many bows.

I've been getting a lot of e-mails with similar questions so I thought ON MONDAY I would address several of these and if you have any other questions - leave them in the comments and if I get many of the same - I'll answer those too. The 3 questions I've gotten a lot lately are:
1. The home tours - "I can't see the links or can you post a list of each Friday's links so we can quickly access them."
2. What kind of camera do you use and did you take photography lessons?
3. How do you get so many blog followers/a successful blog/anyone to read your blog?

Also - between my email (I have 2 addresses) and the comments on this blog and the prayer blog - I've been left a ton of prayer requests and I have to be honest - I can miss a few. So if you have left me one and you don't see it posted (I'm still working through a lot of them) - please send again to kellyskornerblog@gmail.com. I definetely don't mean to miss any - but it can happen with as many as I get. They are all important!!!

LOVE those bar stools. You've done a fantastic job decorating! And what cute little petit fours. I LOVE those...totally could have eaten the entire platter.

Kelly, I so appreciate your wil.ingness to make sure to pray for all our requests and post them on your blog. Some other big-name bloggers would not be as gracious because they are so "busy"...thanks so much for being the picture of a sweet Southern lady! You are so down to earth and kind.

Love the barstools, too. Baby Kinley looks just like her mommy!

I love the bar stools. I can't wait to have a house with a bar! Silly as it sounds, they are so convenient!

The new stools are super cute. I'm glad you decided to buy them. I've recently started following and enjoy reading. My mom lives in Memphis, but has to "cross the river" and goes to Ft. Smith from time to time. She LOVES that area of AR, she says it reminds her of where we live in Atlanta! Have a blessed week!

I loved the baby cookies! Whoever made those did a super job. And the petit fours looked scrumptious!Chocolate....need I say more?(did you make them) The bar stools look great. What color cushion did you go with? The earrings you wore to the baby shower are so cute. I remember the baby shower days. I always had to make cheese straws.
Keeping you in my heart in Ga.

1. We thought God was all over the service today too. Although Laurie Smith could sing the phone book and it would sound awesome. We just showed up today to stand behind her. Loved The Revelation Song that Collins and Sarahanne did. I told Stan I wanted to jump and shout during one part of it. He thanked me for not....:) I just downloaded it from iTunes.

2. When I saw the nursery number flash up, I sighed because I knew it wasn't a nursing baby looking for me. Enjoy it while it lasts. I did look around incognito to see who jumped up. You were so discreet... I never saw you.

3. Love the bar stools AND I.O. Metro. I have to pass by there everyday on my way home......I live WAY too close to the Promenade and the Shoppes around there!!

Kelly, you look like you are glowing in all the pictures you are in lately! Are you sure you're not pregnant again? Or maybe you are just so happy? :)

By the way, I saw Scott at work the other day, and had to do a double take because of his new haircut. Haha. I didn't recognize him.

PS Love the bar stools. Can't wait to see the rest of the room!

Hi Kelly,
I do have a decorating question??? LOVE your new barstools by the way.

I see your coffee table in front of the sofa has taller candles and bowls. How do you get around seeing the tv? Are you always moving things to see the view?
I would love to decorate in a similiar fashion but I know my hubby would never go for things this tall in front of the tv area.
I would love to hear your thoughts.

Thanks in advance.
~Warmly, Melissa :)

I totally agree about being part of a Sunday School class. Our 3 year old was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and I know I would not be surviving this apart from my wonderful church. We just got home from a church social in the fellowship hall.....maybe I'm an old lady, but I LOVE those things!! How do people exist through the rough times without a church family??

Bar Stools look amazing in your kitchen!! They are soooo YOU! :)

I can't believe there are NO pictures of Harper in this post...I'm sad. Hopefully you'll get some in tomorrow's!

Sounds like you had a terrific day! Oh, and by the way...you most certainly DO NOT look pregnant in that picture! You silly girl!

I just got home a little while ago from the Cities! We had a total MckWeekend with the picnic and brunch! It was a TON of fun! I'll be posting pictures in mere minutes!

Thank you, thank you, thank you for encouraging folks to find a small group/weekend Bible study/life group/Sunday School . . . (!) whatever you want to call it! . . . at their churches. We never really get to know our church family if all we do is sit in a pew, and you are right -- being part of a small group is the key to truly becoming part of the body and FEELING like it!

Grins and blessings,

I agree - it totally felt like football weather this weekend! I am ready for SEC football to start up!
I love that Gummie Doll - I think I need one for my new baby girl!

Love the bar stools. The weather here in Baton Rouge was feeling footballish. I told my husband today that it felt like it should be an LSU game. Too bad it left as fast as it came.

I love the bar stools! I have been wanting to add some natural texture in my decorating and I have been looking for an ottoman that looks like that.
3 friends of mine and I are working on starting a young families group at church. Joe and I have stepped down from teaching 3rd & 4th grade (we only have a couple of students for the fall) to help start it. I am excited. The 4 of us have been getting together for a while with informal play groups. I'd love to hear some of the things you class does. We had a suggestion to do the Mayberry series.

You look great in that picture, don't be silly.

For the longest time when you kept saying Sunday School, I kept thinking you were teaching like a Sunday School call--you know with little children. I am excited to see it's adults, I really hope to get involved in a group like that one day.

Also, you didn't answer question 2 or 3...

PS. I don't think you answered questions 2 or 3?

And here I thought I was the only person whose husband got a "summer do." We live in hot and humid South Carolina and every summer he sneaks out and gets his hair cut (off), although I warned him he can't do it now - I'm afraid he'll scare our 4-year-old son's friends - ha!
I love your blog; Harper is just too precious; thanks for sharing.

David said those same words... that he felt like he should be driving to a football game. I hope we see more of it! I love Arkansas but to think I could enjoy this kind of weather on a regular basis if I lived elsewhere... it *almost* makes me want to move!

Questions:

1) Will you go ahead and try for another baby sister or brother for Harper soon1?! I know it is none of my business but, I totally think you should! :) But, I trust you'll leave it up to God and not me! Haha!

2) Can you share any tips for loosing weight - my baby Jack is 3 months old and I'm nursing but haven't lost much weight at all! So very frustrating!

3) Please get the rug soon...I can't wait to see the living room makeover!

4) Any beauty or skin tips?

5) Decorating tips?

Thanks! ~ Ali

One thing I am curious about...do you find there is a downside to blogging, especially since you have so much "exposure" now? I have a small, family blog with just a handful of readers and I can't imagine having thousands of people reading it on a regular basis.

Do you ever get negative feedback or criticism, and do you ever feel that you have to censor yourself at times or have to be careful about putting yourself out there too much?

Melanie said...

Our church has a very large congregation (3000 members). Our pastor says that if the church is the city, then your Sunday School class is your neighborhood.

Kelly- Love the bar stools!!

I may have asked this in the past waiting for a Q&A- but do you know this early in the game if Harper will go to public school or will you home school? Or do you not know yet and you are open to both...however God leads you?

You look great in the brown dress!

I have a question about you and Scott. I know you have talked briefly about how having a baby has changed your relationship, but would you be willing to share a little more on that. How has it changed it on a daily basis? Do you feel like it has affected your level of intimacy as a couple? Also, how is he about helping with Harper's diapers and things like that?

First off you do not look pregnant in that picture. I thought you looked amazing. I love your hair...so cute.

I also love the stools you picked out for your kitchen. They look wonderful.

I also wanted to tell you that I will be participating in the Show me your Home friday. Well, one we get to the stuff that is not home related I will be playing along. I can't wait for the other things to start.

Hope you had a wonderful vacation and I will be back from mine soon and once again will be reading and commenting on a more frequent basis.

Your bar stools are amazing. The pictures of your house seriously look like something out of a home decorating magazine. Maybe you should submit them? :-)

The baby shower looks like it was success! How could it not be with those petite fours and cookies. Yum!

Just one quick question. How was the transition from working girl to SAHM? My baby is due in August and I won't be returning to my job as a teacher and am a little concerned that my brain will turn to mush, I'll get depressed, etc. But I am so excited at the same time. It's all I have ever wanted. Just curious. Keep up the fun blog posts!
