Raindrops on Roses and Whiskers on Kittens

These are a few of my favorite things right now:
  • I am currently NUTS about 3 things - if I didn't know FOR SURE that I'm not pregnant - I would wonder because I am constantly craving : Salt & Vinegar chips (what on earth??? But I can't quit eating them), Coke and Cherry Icees - last weekend I saw one too many signs for them and now I want one every single day, and Scott just told me that Sonic has pina Colada slushes and OH MY - they are SO good!!!!!! It tastes just like you are at the beach. If you are at work and need a vacation - turn on some Jimmy Buffet, Jack Johnson or whatever sounds like summer to you and drink one. :-)
(Hopefully your Sonic knows how to make them - ours does but another local one acted like I was crazy when I ordered it - so I'll ask tomorrow what's in it so you can tell your sonic = It might just be pineapple/coconut if I had to guess).
  • Harper's first day in her little swimming pool. We blew it up and filled it up this afternoon and put her bumbo seat in it and she really liked it (for about 15 minutes) and then the pouty lip came out.
Splashing away
  • I also LOVE her little strawberry swimsuit from Gymboree - precious!
  • I love when friends come to visit - Laurie and Kelly (Laurie's best friend since childhood and our next door neighbor for a few years when I first got out of college) came to visit. Kelly is in town for a wedding and I was so glad she came to meet Harper and that I got to see her!

  • Scott and I have the hardest time making decisions about where to eat and tonight we wanted to "eat out" (or more like get some take out) so one of our favorite things has always been to write down 3-4 restaurants on pieces of paper and then pick one out of a hat. Tonight we upped our fun because we let Harper pick the place since she can now grab. She picked Chili's and my stomach thanks her!
  • I heard this song a month or 2 ago and am just CRAZY about it. And then I found out the first single on the new David Crowder CD is this song. I love his version and listen to it constantly (it just hit itunes) but it's not on you tube so I'm sharing this one - which is great too. "How He Loves Us" - if you are having a tough time - try listening to this and remember just how much He really does love us!

  • Do you know about www.technorati.com? If you register your blog on there - it will show you who is linking to your blog and where your blog ranks among the millions of blogs out there! Go check it out - it's fun!
  • Something that makes me EXTREMELY happy is that after having the prayer blog up for 7 months - we now have 75 praises!!!!! Isn't that AMAZING???? I know some of you are still on the list waiting............but God can do anything! And I can't wait for some of the single girls to start announcing they are engaged or dating seriously! I'm working on adding a section for all other prayer requests. I think that's how I'm going to handle the requests I get - I'm just trying to figure it out so for all of you sending me requests - I'm working on it. Keep praying!!!

I love what you said about writing 3-4 restaurants down and drawing from a hat! I do the same thing ALL the time...my friends think I am a little crazy. So...for my birthday this year my friend bought me a decision dice! Ha! I loved it!

By the way Harper looks too cute in her swimsuit!

Harper looks like a natural in the pool. Love her swiming suit. Too cute! If our future baby girl didn't already have two, I would be headed to Gymboree. Blessings! Gina

Harper is so darling in her little swimming pool! I loved shopping at Gymboree when my boys were babies; they are now 12 yrs. and 11 yrs.! Time goes by fast that's for sure! That's a great idea about picking out of a hat for a restaurant b/c it never fails our boys always what to go to opposite places! I'm definitely going to do that next time! Thanks for the idea:)

I think I am gonna have to switch from my Starbuck Lattes to Sonic. I adore Sonic. Did you know you can order a BLT on Toaster bread or a Hot Ham n' Cheese--neither of these are on the menu but they are yummy and the only thing I have ever gotten there--besides the drinks!!
Oh, check out my post for today you will appreciate it--so sweet how my baby thinks about heaven!!

Oh my I'm running not walking to Sonic. They used to have pina colada slushes all the time and about two years ago they stopped making them. I'm hurrying over there tomorrow to see if they're making them again :)

Love Harpers swimsuit...that is adorable!

Love, love, love that song! I heard it several months ago when I was at a conference in South Carolina. Heard it sung during a Cardboard Testimony not long after.

This post reminds me, I need to download that song! Thanks!

I have been reading your blog for some time now, and i haven't ever commented. I recently found the song How He Loves Us, and I can't stop listening to it. I sing it going to sleep, and when I'm waking up. It's goes on and on in my head at work during the day when i'm dealing with children that are having a hard day.
This song just really speaks to me, so thanks for posting and allowing other people to hear these amazing words.
If you like this song you would like...
Where You Go I Go
You Won't Relent
We Cry Out
I think they're all sung by Kim Walker. Anyway, thanks for your blog!

I have been wondering how to have Bubeaner safely enjoy his pool. It never occurred to me to use the bumbo. =)

We must be thinking alike these days because I just bought Ava the same suit from Gymboree and I LOVE it and I just bought her a little baby pool today too :) And to top it all off, SONIC is FINALLY hitting the north and we just got one in a suburb that is close to us. Travis and I find ourselves there a lot, looking for something great to drink! I am currently hooked on the cranberry limeade, but the pina colada drink sounds fun too :) Happy Weekend Kelly!! Harper is still just as cute as ever!

Glad Harper likes her pool. I can't wait til Gracies comes out here in August and can swim in Memaw's pool too! I'm gonna get her a float with a shade to chill in. :-)

I am going to try out those slushies tomorrow. Sounds perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon.

London has that same Gymboree swimsuit! I have to admit, I am slightly (read majorly) osessed with Gymboree and their sister company, Janie and Jack (in fact I work there part time just for the discount! haha!)

next time you're at sonic, would you please ask their manager to ask the manager of ANY sonic in the springfield, mo. area to add the pina colada slushes to our menu? and then when their manager updates your manager, go ahead and give me a shout.

Hey Kelly! I love your blog and read it every day. At Easter you made a grape salad. I would love the recipe. Do you know when you will be posting it on your food blog? Thanks so much.

Oh and BTW, I am a Sonic addict too. Our local junior high sells little credit cards for $15 and you get Route 44s for .99 for a year! I haven't seen the pina colada yet but am loving the mango madness.

God bless!

Kelly,
I headed over to your prayer blog but I wasn't sure if my prayer request fit into any of your categories. I'm asking for you, and anyone else who reads this, to pray for my aunt. To family she is Aunt Mary Jo but to everyone else she is Sister Geraldine (see what I mean? Not exactly trying to conceive and she is already "married" to the most Godly husband there could be as a nun). Aunt Mary Jo just found out this past Thursday that she has "advanced lung cancer". She begins the first of 3 rounds of chemo this coming Wednesday, July 1st. Aunt Mary Jo is the oldest of 7 children (my dad's sister),she's in her 60's and full of life. She also makes the best salsa of anyone I've ever met! Please pray for her. Thanks so much.

BTW we live both in NWA and from your pics I am pretty sure we go to the same OB =)

Hi! I LOVE your blog! I also enjoy reading and trying out your recipes.. We tried the poppyseed chicken recipe last week and I have NEVER seen my daughters eat so much! And I'm not kidding!! ha
Also, I don't want to sound annoying or "know it all-ish" or whatever... but wanted to tell you that I too put my little girl in the bumbo seat in the water once during bathtime(she was a little older than Harper at the time) and I turned my back for a second to get something out of a drawer behind me and it floated and dumped her underwater!! It scared me to death (scared her as well)!! Anyways, I've told everyone that has a bumbo to be careful with the water cause it was like a split second and my baby was COMPLETELY under water! So anyways, I just wanted to share..I had no idea that it would float like that with them in it, but it did!

Kelly, I just wanted to take the time to stop lurking and say how much I love reading your blog! I found it through someone on the Nest , I believe if memory serves me correctly. You have been such an encouragement to me- I love reading fellow Christian women blogs. I wrote down the verse from Harper's room. That is a great one and I'm sure I've heard it before but it has great meaning now for me. What an amazing journey you and your little/young family have been through! It is hard to believe you are 35. I'm not saying that is old but I seriously thought you were younger than me (27) that should make you feel good! Thank you for blogging so I may read!

My Sonic does not have Pina Colado slush...I was so disappointed :( If you find out what's in it, please let us know!!

tonya said...

Hello!
We own a Sonic. If anyone wants the pina colada slush, order a slush with pineapple and white coconut. Make sure you say white coconut or they are liable to give you blue coconut. Since pina colada slushes aren't on the menu most places probably won't know what your talking about. My daughter loves white coconut and lime slushes. For and extra treat, get a pineapple, white coconut cream slush. It's slush and ice cream mixed. It's interesting seeing all of the different drink combinations that customers come up with! Our Tropical smoothie has the white coconut, pineapple and banana in it. I think since the white coconut is in the Tropical smoothie we should keep it. We used to use it in the Cream Pie Shakes. Sonic is good about getting rid of stuff people like.

I told my daughter about the bumbo in the pool and told her to try it with her 3 month old little boy while she is letting her 2 year old play.

Se called me today and said that Sawyer was NOT thrilled with it and the water didn't even touch him!

It was such a good idea though - maybe in a few weeks she can try again.

Anonymous said...

The bumbo in the pool is such a good idea. My Olivia, just started sitting in her bumbo today (she's three months tomorrow) so I think I'll try it in a few weeks. She already loves splashing in the bath.

Staci said...

Yea...definitely wouldn't put the Bumbo in the pool or in water. They are filled with foam and water can seep in causing the mold, etc.
