Monday Madness

Harper and I have had a busy day but nothing really much to blog about. We took a long walk this morning, made Daddy his P90X lunch and dinner, got our oil changed, dropped of dry cleaning, and browsed Hobby Lobby and ran into two blogger friends Ashley and Katie. And in between we did a lot of eating, burping (Harper - not me), and diaper changes.
I just had to share this picture because it's Harper's new thing. She wrinkles up her nose when she smiles. She also sometimes shrugs her little shoulders AND wrinkles her nose as if to say "Oh look at little me - I'm so cute and so shy". I also realized tonight that she has not one but TWO teeth coming in. I'm not sure how long it will take them to be all the way in but I can't wait until I can take a picture of our little bunny with her bottom two teeth.

Thank you SOOOOO much for all of the comments telling me I look thin. Sometimes I feel like a big blob of mess - with crazy hair and covered in drool, spit up and sometimes poop. (Yes Harper has projectile POOPED on me twice today.) I will say that breast feeding is the best workout program known to man. And pretty weather making me want to take Harper on a ton of walks is my other friend. I still have some weight to lose but I appreciate you being so sweet. I'm afraid how I look has taken a complete back seat these days. And I could care less. I worried about how I looked in my 20's so much I am so glad to be OVER that. I'm thankful for my 30's - because I've reached a point where I like to look nice but I'm not constantly beating myself up about it.

For the next 2 weeks - I am taking a little challenge by the people of Crystal Light and trying to drop my Coke habit (the sweet little caffieneted drink from Atlanta - not a drug) and drink more water (made much more pleasant by crystal light). I REALLY need to make that change so I'm going to be blogging over the next 2 days on how it's going HERE and I would love for any of you to challenge yourselves and drop the Coke/Diet Coke/Dr. Pepper habit for a week. Sonic may have to contact the government and declare bankruptcy but my body will thank me.

  • Also - a sweet blogger has asked for prayers for her cousin, Rance, who was recently involved in an accident that has left him a quadreplegic.
  • And pray for this family - this wife lost her husband in a Navy helicopter accident - they have three children under the age of 3 including a 3 week old baby.
  • Pray for Brian and Jennifer - last week they lost their first baby Caswell at 38 weeks in utero. They are both in their late 30's and I know this is a huge loss to them.

i'm proud of you for giving up your coke, but i'm not sure i could do it! i do have to say, though, that crystal light makes water MUCH better!!

oh my gosh Lauren had ANOTHER blowout today too! We were at the mall walking and I could hear her making those funny noises. I was trying on clothes, picked her up, and walla, there is was! I mean, seriously, I JUST WASHED the car seat last night----:)

Kelly,
I so much look forward to reading your journal each day. Your love of Harper always shows through so much and also your love of all your family. It is also wonderful to see how much you enjoy and appreciate all of your life and it's blessings. Of course the blog would not be as cute without the precious pictures of Harper. I do believe she is one of the sweetest, prettiest babies ever !
Hugs and Love,

What a doll she is! Keep up the walking and nursing! ( I loved it when my weight fell off after babies too...wish I could have just one more...but with 3 girls 16, 11 and 10 I am too busy and life is getting just a little too easy!!)

This is the biggest smile you've shared! She gets cuter by the minute. Thanks for sharing.

LOVE that sweet big smiling face and little wrinkled nose! Harper has personality plus! Like Mother, like daughter!

Girl, you are going to be so proud of yourself for ditching the Coke! I haven't had a carbonated drink in years. After a while you learn to love your water absolutely plain. Every time I pick up a bottle, I think "Umm - life giving wonderful WATER" and I look at cans of Coke, etc. and think "Yuck, nasty harmful chemicals!" I didn't start out to brainwash myself - it just happened. ROFL I'll have to say, water sure has been kinder to my aging tummy. Hang in there - you'll be glad you did.

Harper is such a cutie pie!! I started reading your blog thru a friends blog when Harper was in Tulsa. We live in Bentonville and Tulsa...crazy life! :)

I started on January 1 with the Crystal Light...and girl, IT WORKS! :) I have drank less than 5 cokes all year (including Sonic vanilla Cokes and I was an addict, too!)....and I feel G-R-E-A-T!! Try the Energy Wild Strawberry one....it has that much needed caffiene.

May 1, I started taking AcaiTrim. You can get it at Sam's Club, Walmart, anywhere. The best deal is at Sam's....2 bottles for less than $15, Walmart is like $9 for 1 bottle. I've dropped 2 pant sizes since May 1! I take the 2 AcaiTrim pills first thing in the morning with my "bottle of Crystal Light energy."

I'm right there with you on the coke habit (also the sweet Atlanta drink...not the drug). When I'm sick (which is, most of the time), Coke is all I want. I need to kick the habit too. I'm also a TBB member so feel free to look me up on the P90x forum...username is ugottafriend! Keep me posted on your progress!

I did the Crystal Light challenge during lent so I could give up Starbucks. My advice would be to keep a ton of different flavors in your cabinet, 'cause one or two get boring after a day or so. It worked for lent, but now I'm on a Starbucks AND Crystal Light craze. Oops! Good luck!

I will pray for the prayer requests. Thanks for sharing! God is amazing! Also, you do look great and I know what you mean about worrying how you look in your 20's. I am 25 and I am just now starting to reach a point to where I want to be healthy, but I don't want to be stick thin or kill myself trying to be thin. I am 5'6 and weigh 155, (I was 135 when I got married 4 yrs ago, so I have gained, but who doesn't when they get married) and to the world I probably need to lose some weight, but truthfully, I feel good in the skin I am in. I am like you and just like to look nice and try to eat healthy. However, I don't look as cute as you in all of those adorable dresses. I'm thinking I need to buy some cute dresses! Lol!

Sweet smile on Miss Harper!!
Girl, you look great!!!! Diet coke is my weakness for sure. I wish it was as healthy for me as water! Haha!!!

Rance's accident breaks my heart. We went all through school together, from elementary school on. He is such a sweet guy!

I think giving up Cokes is great, but just remeber that drinks like Crystal Light have artificial sweetner, so there is a down side. Artificial sweetners give me a terrible headache and if you are use to drinking several sodas a day you may want to slowly drop off because just stopping cold turkey can give you a headache too. You realize how addicting caffeine is when you stop drinking it.

Coke is my weakness too! I will join in the Crystal Light Movement with you. Let me look at your link....

What a great idea with the water challenge! I already use Crystal Light in my water, I just don't drink enough of it. I love my cherry coke zero and Dr. Pepper! But when I do have water, it always has Crystal Light in it. Maybe I'll join up too!

Once you see the teeth about to come in it's just a matter of days until they actually do. The bottom two usually come in pretty close together. Good luck on the nursing after that! I only nursed my daughter for three months. She got her two bottom teeth at 8 months, and she bites me now! It's not on the sensitive places like it would be if she nursed, but it hurts!!

I'm with you on the whole body image. I was obsessed with it in my 20s, but now it doesn't matter as much. I want to be healthy and thin because it's better for you, but I don't need to be stick-thin anymore. It's so nice to take that pressure off of yourself. I think having children also puts your priorities in line too.

Lots of CL flavors to choose from! Can't find the one I used to drink the most, though...
These words are so very special and full of comfort! Praying in Seattle!
John 14:1-3 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

I have to say that a few years ago my husband and I both dropped the cokes and started drinking lots more water and to help us with that we got hooked on crystal light. We love it. I like the cherry pomegranit and my husband loves the peach tea. Good luck, and yes I dropped several pounds in a about a week and a half and dropping the cokes is all I did.

What an adorable pic of Harper! I'm happy to hear I'm not the only one out there who loves their Coke/Pepsi! Every now and again I try to kick the soda habit numerous times and I always end up going back to it. When I'm not drinking a soda I do drink Crystal Light which I have gone w/o soda for weeks and then I get a craving for a soda again! I have even stuck to Crystal Light, but would allow myself to get a soda if we were out at a restaurant. It's not easy, but can be done........that's if I really want to!!

Kelly - I've been reading your blog since before you went on your Hawaii trip last year and have never commented. I don't have any kids and will not be able to do so, so maybe that's why. Anyway...Hubby and I used to drink Diet Coke all the time and then we started drinking Crystal Light with our dinner instead of Diet Coke. I love Crystal Light and have completely lost my taste for my beloved Diet Coke. If you want to cut back on soda, Crystal Light really will help you. Good luck!

What a beautiful smiling girl! Too sweet with the nose crinkle. I can tell you first hand that kicking that Coke habit is one of the best things. (I feel like I should be writing soda, fizzy, bubbles..anything to clarify that statement means the legal one) Have a wonderful day!!

I remember when I lost 40 pounds after I gave birth to my daughter from breast feeding. She was a hungry girl just like Harper- up every two hours.

Once the breastfeeding stopped, so did the weight loss. UGH! I am one jealous girl if you keep it off!!!!

In regard to the teeth coming in, it will only take one time for her to bite while nursing...and once she sees your reaction she will probably start crying b/c it hurts/shocks you at the same time. If you say "no" firm (but nicely) she'll get the hint.

Stephanie @ My Answered Prayer said...

I WAS a huge coke addict! I will drink it when we eat out now but not at home.

Try this: Use a 2qt jug and mix a fruit punch crystal light with an orange juice crystal light....I can't get enough of it.

Going on a month of no coke at home!

Also a hint a friend gave me...Get a sonic water and drink on it all day and refill!!! I drink a lot more water that way...then I refill with my crystal light!

Michele said...

She is so darn cute...love that little nose!!!

I drink the crystal light at work...and love it! But just drink the diet sprite at night. Now if I could just quit eating sweets, we'd be just fine!!!

I rarely drink soda now. I am a huge fan of the Crystal light. There are so many flavors to choose from , you can't get bored. My personal faves are the pink lemonade and the fruit punch. I use a 32oz water bottle to drink my water/crystal light, so it takes two packs. Sometimes I'll do one lemonade packet and one iced tea packet. Yum!

Hey, I left you a comment on your other blog about the Crystal Light challenge. I'm with ya girl! I've been wanting to stop my Diet Coke obbsession for a while now but didn't really have the motivation. Now maybe that we are all doing this it will be a bit easier.

I've been reading for a while and have never left a note, but I thought I'd pop in and say hello. Your blog is always fun to read, and little Harper is such a cutie! Good luck with your quest to kick the Coke habit! I'm so wild about diet coke that I'd love to have it pumped directly into my veins. Giving it up would require some sort of support group. :)

Now that our son is in the PICU I will try to get healthier now that I can go home for a few nights. Evan had surgery on his intestines to reconnect yesterday and is now in the PICU having difficulty on the vent because of the pain meds! ahhh!!!
I know, come up with an I'm giving it up!!! weekly post. and have all of us my linky in to you what we are giving up that week and our reactions to it. haha that would be funny. Speaking of my linky, i can't find the dining room my linky to send mine in, I know it's late, but I wasn't home that week, been living in the hospital=(
