Grandparents in the HOUSE!

We got a treat yesterday. Harper's Nonny and Granddaddy came for a visit. Harper had a tough day yesterday with her teething. She was very fussy and would NOT take a nap.
I've been so proud of myself because last week I started her on a firm nap schedule. Before since I was home and we couldn't go anywhere for so long - I was just pretty willy nilly - letting her nap in my lap or whenever and wherever she decided she wanted to but I decided it was time to try and be a little more scheduled so every day I have been putting her in her room with the lights out, the fan on, the cool mist vaporizer, her favorite CD and just letting her go to sleep on her own and it has worked great!!! She takes a 2 - 3 hour nap and we both feel better. But she wasn't having it on Friday.
So my parents and I put her in the car and drove around and took her to Target because it was too hot in the middle of the day to stroll outside and then we just kept driving around so she would get some rest.
And then last night - my parents kept Harper (it was a pretty easy job because I put her to bed first) and Scott and I got to get out and go on a date. I have been looking forward to this ALL WEEK!!! It was the first time in months we have spent any time alone and been able to eat a meal together and it was just wonderful!!!! My parents wanted us to go to a movie or starbucks or do something but we had so much fun but couldn't wait to get home and check on Harper.
We went to our favorite place - Doe's!!! We splurged our diets and had tamales first. I LOVE Tamales.
Doe's is known for huge steaks - we split this one. I promise this wasn't just my meal. I'm not going to lose 15 lbs eating like this. ha!
This sign was hanging up near us and we had to laugh. Looks like we won't be coming to Doe's without a sitter for at least 8 more years! ha! Yesterday was the Wal-Mart Shareholder's meeting which I missed for the first time in 13 years. There are always lots of celebrities in town - yesterday at the meeting they had Michael Jordan, Ben Stiller, Kris Allen, Miley Cyrus, Smokey Robinson and maybe a few more. I PROMISE that there was a group that came in while we were eating that looked like a country band and they just looked familiar or famous to me. I could not figure out if they were. But I have a feeling we were eating with celebrities - if I only could only find out who. ha! Maybe I'm crazy.
(Yeay - Beth helped me figure it out - it was Trace Adkins! I googled how tall he was just to make sure and he's 6 foot 6 just like this guy was. He was also wearing a CMT t-shirt which clued me in)
Isn't this little girl the CUTEST? I swear if she wasn't mine - I'd be trying to adopt her. I just want to kiss her to death!

Now a little business before I wish you a good weekend!

The winners of the books for singles are:
Amber, Stephanie and Elizabeth. I will be contacting you to get your addresses!

I MAY get to get a few more books - so if I do - I'll ramdomly draw a few more names.

Also - please pray for the following families:
Baby Lindsay - got a heart transplant on Thursday
Layla Grace - has neuroblastoma and 30% survival rate
Hailey - baby with Trisomy 13 and HPE - will be delivered on Friday
Bolte family - this family has 2 boys, has lost 2 boys, and just delivered a girl this week that has EB like Jonah.
Little Madison who has a metastatic kidney tumor
Dunn Family in AL - lost mother and 11 yr old daughter in car accident. Previously lost another daughter to heart defect. Leaves father and 2 children.

Kelly have you tried any teething tablets for Harper? They really seem to help with the restlessness that comes with teething. We buy the Hyland's brand Homeopathic. You can get them pretty much anywhere.

I'm happy you and Scott were able to get a date night! The food looked delicious and made me hungry. I would be in the same boat as you if I saw a group that looked like a country band. I am so bad at recognizing celebrities. I hope you have a nice weekend and best of luck with Harper's teething.

Such a cute dress you have on! I always love Harper's outfits but that bow she has on is too cute!! We are trying to enjoy date nights right now as long as we can since I'm due in January.

Harper is so cute! What? You knew that already?? I love that brown and pink outfit ♥ I was smiling, because Doe's was our first post-baby date too (except the one in Little Rock). Now I'm craving those potatoes swimming in butter! Can I give you some advice from someone four years further down the road? Try REALLY hard to have a date night at least once a month, no matter what. It makes all the difference in the world!

You look beautiful Kelly!!! And so does sweet Harper, what a doll she is!!!

My husband grew up with Doe's Eat Place... in Greenville, MS. Gosh, I can't wait to go deep South and eat there! Did you know Rachael Ray named it as one of the TOP TEN best steaks in AMERICA?! Wow! My husband always tells me they serve 1) tamales, 2) spaghetti, and 3) giant steaks. Here's firsthand numbers 1 and 3! haha

Yay for green dresses! I have that same dress that I am wearing for a wedding next month. I decided to partner it with a chunky black belt, black pumps and black hoop earrings. I love how the dress fits and it's so comfy!!!

i remember deciding enough was enough with my first child and settling her into a firm nap routine. it only took a couple of days of a little fussiness and crying it out for a bit, but it was SOOOO worth it! then again, i need predictability and structure in my day, even though i'm at home all day. but i believe children need it, too! good for you!

OMG! That sign is hilarious! The one thing my husband and I love to do is go out to eat! We refuse to compromise that, sitter or not. If our children never went out to eat with us, they would never learn appropriate out-to-eat-manners. There are a few restaurants that we avoid with them but most places are very child-friendly. We should work on getting a night out by ourselves, ha! So happy you two had a date! )

I follow your blog and just noticed that I have the dress that you wore on yall's date last night in charcoal. What shoes did/would you where with it?? Though I visit and read your blog daily, I keep forgetting to leave a comment which has been on my mind. :)
Last week, Grandpa and I purchased the most amazing new play thing for our youngest Grandbaby, Sadie, who is just a couple weeks older than sweet Harper. You HAVE to get one of these, Kelly!! It's the new Precious Planet Jumperoo...and oh my...our Sadie was jumping and giggling from the very moment I put her in it! Seriously, before I even had my hands off of her little tushy, our girl was jumping up and down using just the tips of her tiny toes. WE put a pillow beneath her feet to help out and I imagine this Jumperoo will be used for at least the next six or more months. Just wanted to share! :)
Oh yeah~I ADORE your little Harper! (((HUGS)))

That is so awesome that you got to go out with your husband. I know what you mean when you say you are dying to get out of the house but then when you finally leave all you want to do is get back to your baby!

I had to giggle to myself when you described Harper's nap routine. I was reminded of an old friend that could not go to sleep (to this very day as a 30 yr old) without the humidifier, fan, etc...Because that is the way she always slept as a baby, that is the way she has to sleep NOW! It makes for hard circumstances whenever they are in a position outside of their own home/ routine. Even on trips she still has to pack up all her sleeping aids-LOL! She always gives her mom a hard time about that..hee hee!

Poor Harper! She worked so hard getting her first tooth and she didn't even get to go have steak! Haha!:) Josh and I need a Doe's date soon. And I love your dress! You look great, girl!

I bet you talked about Harper the whole time you were on your date. I know when my husband and I go out all we do is talk about our three daughters and they are 19, 18 and 12. That is how it has been for years. I am not sure what we used to talk about before we had kids, it must have been very boring! One of us will stop the other one and say, "Okay, let's talk about something else." Before you know it, we are right back talking about our favorite subject! We just can't help it!

My husband and I also went out for the first time this weekend! It was great! We have an 11yr old and a 17month old and had not been out ALONE since about 2 months before the youngest was born!
We had so much fun, but also only went to dinner because we were ready to get back home. I told my parents to just put us on their books every 4 weeks or so because we would continue doing this.
We need the break and alone time as I'm sure you understand.

BTW - you look great in that pic!

Whoo Hoo for date night and dinner with Trace Adkins. That's awesome that Harper had been taking a good nap for you before her teething kicked in. Good day time naps like that can make a huge difference in your day I am sure. I love that Harper can use her bumbo still too. All our littles out grown them by the 2-3 month mark. Then their chubby little legs can fit anymore. Boo Hoo for us!
