First - I wanted to let you know in case you haven't heard .....little Kayleigh went to be with Jesus last night. She was a little baby born who was just around 1 lb and has spent the last 11 months in the NICU. After some recent surgeries, she had become brain dead and last night she left this world for a much better place. Please keep her family in your prayers. I can't imagine all they have been through. The pictures from yesterday will break your heart - but their faith is strong.
I was excited today to have lunch with Melissa and Ashley. Melissa is my neighbor and she knows Ashley from church and her husband works with Ashley's dad. I have been reading Ashley's blog for a while before I ever knew she knew Melissa. Small world. Ashley is this very colorful, fun person and she was just as nice in person as I imagined. She is about to have baby Avery just any day! You have to go check out her nursery and all the cute things Ashley has for her - she could make a great friend for Harper. Melissa is so sweet and is that neighbor that always has the perfect house and is the perfect hostess. I am so glad to get to know both of these girls! (Next time we'll do dinner and daddy can babysit!)
Unfortunately, Miss Harper was NOT thrilled to be at lunch - she cried and screamed the whole time. I think she is teething possibly. She just drools buckets and constantly reaches for our fingers to chew on them and she has been pretty fussy. Bless her heart!

But she still looks cute!

You know how much I love big bows, right? No really, did you know I like big bows? ha!

Well - there are two web sites I wanted to tell you about.

A girl who lives her locally, Robin, made Harper some flower bows before she was born. She recently launched a web site and she wanted to offer all of you a 10% discount through the end of May. Just use the code "kelly10". So go and check them out! You might even see a baby you know in her gallery!
http://www.mckenzieoriginals.com/

And then there is sweet baby Bentley who is having heart surgery in about a week.
Glam R Baby is having a special sale to raise money to help her! Check it out here - she has 3 bows to choose from and one is the MOTHER of all bows!
http://glamrbaby.blogspot.com/2009/05/bentley-bows.html

And finally - how many of you have looked through all the living rooms??? There ought to be a prize if you have. I have only made it through the first 200.........I've got to get a move on it. But I've LOVED looking at all of your homes and I've got a lot of great ideas!

I've had a change of plans so this Friday - we will be touring GUEST BEDROOMS.
(Just a note - from here on - there may be rooms that not everyone has - you may not have a guest room or you may not have kids rooms or you may not have a home office........so just play when you can and enjoy touring the others until you can participate again. )
***************************************************
OH And how could I forget???? Tonight is the Biggest Loser finale - I don't really care who wins but I love watching the final show when they all come out and blow me away with their transformations! And it's American Idol! Can't wait to see Kris coming home to ARKANSAS!!! (it's also the NYC housewives reunion show! ha! - why don't they do an Arkansas housewives show or a Mississippi housewives show or Alabama? Now THAT might be good. At least the women would hopefully be sweet and would actually do housewife things like cook and clean and take care of kids - someone contact Bravo for me.)

Oh darn! I was hoping I could use the excuse of 'Nursery Friday' to have a reason to get the nursery done! :) I guess I just have a little more time! :)

My daughter Emma started teething around 2 months. She drooled SOOOO much that we had to double bib her with a plastic backed bib under a normal bib just to keep her dry and happy. I hope Harper cuts her first tooth before Emma did because Emma didn't get her first tooth until she was 13 months old!!! She's almost 2 now and is cutting her incisors but the drooling has subsided and we don't need any bibs anymore other than eating.

I love all of the bows, Emma won't keep them on, maybe I will have more luck with my newborn.

I couldn't agree more about the housewives. I was sooo disappointed when they came to my stomping grounds, Atlanta, and they had those housewives. I was like, those ladies are great and all, but nothing like the housewives I know!

I started following your blog to join the Show Us Where You Live Fridays (which is sooo much fun!) Ashley and I used to work together. She is the sweetest thing ever with so much personality! Small world...although I think Ashley knows EVERYONE! Thanks for the update on Kayleigh. My eight year old and I were looking through kitchens together and I left the room for some reason and when I came back she had Kayleigh's blog pulled up. It had caught her eye and then her heart. She made the whole family read through and watch a video on the blog. We have been praying for her since.

Thanks for giving us another reason to look forward to Fridays! I just switched our guest room to a playroom so I will just get to enjoy looking this week!

I can't wait for the Biggest Loser finale, either. I love watching it this season and last season!

Teething tabs are the BEST!!! Totally natural. They are behing the pharmacy counter at Target and beside the pacifiers/baby toothbrushes at Wal-Mart. Hope Harper feels better soon!

I need to go back and check out the living rooms. Maybe I will get some ideas. I freely admit I have trouble figuring out how to put it all together.

Hey Kelly, I hope you read this. I've been following your blog since Harper was born. You and your family are such an inspiration. Well, I know another family who is an inspiration also. My best friend, Michelle, and her husband, Gregg just found out their 13 month old has a rare sex chromosome abnormality. To raise awareness about this condition, my husband and I are helping them create a foundation in their daughter's (Kayla Reese) name. We're doing this by running a 1/2 marathon, blogging and fundraisers. Please take a look at our blog and give us a 'shout out' sometime if you feel like it ;)

Did you know the BL finale tonight is 3 hours! I'm way too pregnant to stay up until 11 PM, so I'll have to read about it tomorrow.

Just wanted you to know- I am giving your blog the One Lovely Blog Award. Details here: http://growingababyinseattle.blogspot.com/2009/05/one-lovely-blog-award.html

Hi Harper's Mommy! Happy late Mother's Day! Just wanted to tell you about teething tablets, but I saw someone before me already did. They are wonderful, and as she said all natural. They immediately dissolve in their little mouths and with tylenol, seem to make a huge difference! Good luck because even though they show signs early, sometimes its awhile before they cut through. And I also didn't know the finale was 3 hours until I saw your comments! GO MIKE!

Kelly, I've followed Kayleigh's story for several months and just fell in love with her! I am so broken hearted for that sweet family - I was sort of a mess today at the church! I didn't get to talk to you Sunday at baby dedication - I was so happy for you and Scott - and to see Harper in person - she's a doll!!! I enjoy your blog so much, my husband calls me a stalker, but I don't care! :)

I can't help it... I love the drama of NYC Housewives... but yes.. they have way too much money and time on their hands. :)

The Simmons Family said...

You crack me up!! Agree with the houswives... the Atlanta one just about did me in. Who lives like that???? REAL Housewives is what they call it... it's not REAL. A lady in her barefeet, chasing babes and cooking for her hubby.. that REAL!!

Love the bows.. maybe Owen wouldn't mind it if I slipped one on his head every once in a while!! HA!

Cindy said...

Have you tried wetting a washcloth and then putting it in the freezer. Then let Harper chew on it. This worked wonders for my daughter when she was teething.

Poor Harper - Teething can be a bummer. We use Hyland's Teething Gel and Laila seems to calm as soon as we put it on her gums.

Watched AI tonight and am voting for Kris Allen! FABULOUS!!!

And...I'll be watching the reunion show with you. :)

am I the only person who thinks you look like Blair from facts of life?? Or have you been told that a BILLION times???

I sent the gift to my friend... anonymously though. A secret little encouragement. I haven't heard if she got it. You can pray for her... her name is Lauren.

So sad about Kayleigh. I live in disbelief that anything like this could ever happen to my children, but when I read about it it just breaks my heart and causes me to just squeeze my babies SO tight.

I read your blog every day, I also love your recipe blog. I have never commented before but just felt it was time to say how much I enjoy reading it. I am sure we would be very good friends if we lived near by. It seems we have lots in common. I also love your recipes and Paula Deen. I have tried several of the recipes and they are great! Thanks for the hard work you put in this blog. Its fantastic!

I'll echo about teething tablets. They are so safe that my Ped. said you really can't give them too many. It's amazing how they work.

I think reading all these blogs is like "watching" a real housewives show. LOL I think Bentonville would be a great place to do one of those shows.

And your picture of the green bean bundles makes me hungry every time I see them. I haven't made those in a long time, maybe I'll find an excuss this weekend to do so.

Am so sorry for the family...to have made it so long....
When I read this passage and it speaks of enemies, my thoughts are that they aren't just people, but can also be applied to horrible diseases and even death. Know that I'm praying!
2 Samuel 22:2-4 And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my saviour; thou savest me from violence. I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.

And what did you think about BL last night? Helen lost some serious weight. And so did Jerry! I couldn't believe that. That show makes me cry! And I ate a ton of chips and salsa (Chili's recipe) during the show. I would make Bob so proud!

Hi Kelly,

Just stumbled upon your blog from a friends. Just wanted to give you another "bow dealer". My friend Emily makes awesome good quality bows super cheap! you can check them out here.... www.freewebs.com/rosebudbows

She makes these things called "spikey ikeys' that are just too cute, and I think you will love.

Hi Kelly! Just wanted to let you in on what our pediatrician told us. Our 6 1/2 month old daughter, Emily Rhyse (pronounced Reese...people have trouble w/it!), started drooling buckets around Harper's age and chewed on EVERYTHING in sight including us! Our pediatrician said it's just that age!Their mouth is like a leaky faucet and if it'll fit in their mouth it's going in :) If she's not already sucking on those toes look out...it's coming soon!!

I LOVE to read your blog! I'm an Arkansas girl, Crossett to be exact :) My husband is a Marine and we are stationed in Beaufort, SC...beautiful coast :) But I do miss Arkansas quite a bit. Even though I'm still in the South it's so strange at how very different people are!!
