Show Us Where You Live Friday

Welcome to Show Us Where You Live Friday

KITCHEN EDITION
My kitchen is my favorite room in our house. Maybe it's because I love food so much. ha!
This is the room that sold me on our house when we were looking. This is the view looking in from the family room.
And this is looking in from the eating area - I love my cabinets. I think if we ever move - I will want cabinets just like this again.
This is our eating area/breakfast room (why is it called a breakfast room anyway?) We rarely eat here - only when we have company. We usually sit on the couch in front of the TV to eat (classy I know).
One of my favorite things - the apothecary jars with fruit. I got each of these jars in different places and I just love them. At Christmas I like to put Christmas balls in them. I should switch them out for other holidays but I don't................maybe I'll start.
I found this lamp at a local store (OOPS) - it was like $20 or $30. I saw it in another local gift shop later for over $100. I love it. I also love the name plate that Kaye made us.
I fell in love with these canisters when we were registering for our wedding and got them as a gift - I still love them.
What is a Southern kitchen without a Southern Living Cookbook on display??? I have so many cookbooks it is ridiculous but I adore them. I'm not a big reader but I could sit and read cookbooks for hours. And I almost put the animal crackers away but this is a daily fight. I don't like for things that aren't "decorative" to sit out on our cabinets but pretty much daily I put these in the pantry and daily Scott brings them back out so I have finally given up. He grabs a handful every time he gets home from work (and pretty much everyone who comes to our house seems to want to eat some - thus the huge jar!)
I love this little bakers rack. I filled it up with pictures of friends and family and a lot of fleur de lis. No I was not a Kappa. I just love fleur de lis. This reminds that I NEED to print out pictures of Harper and start framing them. Shame on me for not doing that sooner. But pretty much all of our framed pictures are at least 5 years old.

I thought it would be fun to share our dishes. When we got married - I didn't register for China. I knew I would rarely use it and I thought it would be more fun to have two full sets of dishes to use instead. So far I have not regretted it. We also got Razorback dishes (of course) and Christmas Spode dishes.

So that's our kitchen and now I'm chomping at the bit to see YOURS!!!

So here are the rules - please link to your "post" and not just your blog when you add your name below. And PLEASE do not add your blog if you did not do a kitchen post. I will have to delete any links that do not relate to this tour. I can't wait to see your rooms! And remember - it's not about how "clean" your kitchen is or how " great it is decorated" - it's about sharing a little piece of "YOU!" (and if you have been following the Compassion bloggers this week - I think you can be grateful just to have a solid roof over your head and a bed to sleep in at night. I was crying tonight just looking at their pictures and thinking of how much I have and how little they have. )

OH AND NEXT FRIDAY: LIVING ROOMS (so you have a week to clean and take pics!)

May I comment without linking?? Love the pics! Especially the tile Kaye made you! We got to spend 2 nights at Kaye's a couple weeks ago and see her workshop and everything. She is SO awesome!! Love her to bits!!

I LOVE your kitchen cabinets, too. Those are similar to what I want in my home someday!! You have some beautiful stuff.

Kristen said...

Your cabinets are amazing!

I don't comment much, but I fell in love with your family while your baby was sleeping. I'm so glad God touched her!

P.S. Your hair is darling tucked or untucked ;D

2 things!

1. I didn't know there was Razorback china!!!! I love it. Even though I went to Baylor if you are raised in AR, you are a hog fan. Plus my dad went there so I'm half a hog...or something like that!

2. I love that you didn't put up the animal crackers for the picture. Keepin' it real baby, keeping it real!

And...this is just a comment, not a number three, but I can't link to my kitchen b/c it is just about to be remodeled. Maybe I'll get some great ideas for my renovation though!!! Thanks!

Kelli said...

Did you put real fruit or fake fruit in the jars? I feel like that is a really dumb question! HA!

I also like your cabinets. I'm thinking of doing something similar to that. Mine are so dark. I'm going to enjoy this little bloggy party. I'm always looking for new ideas for my home. Thanks for doing this.

I love your kitchen! My Mom has similar cabinets in her house, and I have always thought they were so pretty! I posted a link to my kitchen, and I can't wait to see all the others! You are such a great blogger!!

Your kitchen is so homey. I love the rooster lamp, really I love most all rooster accents. It ties in my favorite colors of red and orange to the rest of my home. I am all linked up with Mr.Linky....thanks for doing this, I love peeking into what goes on in others homes.

Dina said...

Great idea to do a home tour! Your kitchen is beautiful and we have the same white dishes! No razorback plates here though.

We are big animal cracker consumers too. If you bite off the head and a little of the back, they can make great buck teeth. It's just a little something I learned from my mom. :)

Sara said...

First time poster here, but I've been reading for awhile. I love your blog, Kelly, and Harper is just darling.

This home tour is fun! I love your kitchen! I agree, I'd take your cabinets too. :)

Thanks for the tours!

I love this photo idea! I'm still in college and don't have a kitchen to show off (trust me, no one would want to see the hall lounge's kitchen!) and I love decorating and seeing how everyone has organized and decorated :)

I posted a link to my kitchen. I love this idea. You are such a great blogger and come up with the neatest posts. I love you kitchen. Your cabinets are gorgeous.

I love your kitchen! And I love Oops! I live in the Kansas City area, but my mom lives about two hours from Tontitown. About every three months, we make a trip to Oops! I always find a good deal or two or three!

Great kitchen, you do have great cabinets. Thanks for doing this tour of homes, I love looking at other peoples homes. I always get great decorating ideas.

Know that I'm here praying hard right now!
Psalms 23:4-6 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

I love your kitchen! What a great idea to put fruit in the apothecary jars.

Thanks for hosting this! I'm in my final weeks of pregnancy and doing some SERIOUS nesting, so this will be fun to participate in as I get our condo ready for the baby :)

I'm looking forward to "touring" homes all over too.

Beautiful kitchen! I'd love to share pics of my kitchen but am embarassed that my oven door is completely off!!LOL...it broke in December and I am saving up for a top notch ge profile in Stainless steel.
Maybe I will...:)

LOVE your kitchen! Thanks for showing it off. We are about to move so I would love to show off my new kitchen in the future.

Here is a thought on the animal crackers: Have you thought about putting them in one of the decorative jars that have the fruit in them? Not as pretty, I know but a lot better than the plastic container. If not, then look around for a pretty container that has the vacuum seal.

Anyway, thought I would share. I know how it is to try to keep everything pretty but when husbands and babies show up...it is hard to do!

Teresa @ Grammy Girlfriend said...

I love the entire kitchen, but especially the cabinets. I am redoing mine now...Decorating is what I do for a living, so many times, I just don't have the energy or desire to change my own....

You are such a blessing to the blog world.

Beautiful kitchen. Won't be participating on this post. We've redone our cabinets (not as pretty as yours!) but still are not done with the counter, floor and we have one wall left to paint. lol So basically my kitchen is a mess right now. lol

Love this idea though.

I love your Kitchen!!! I am new at blogging so not sure about linking stuff yet...but learning so maybe I can figure it out in time for another room! I love the fact that you kept it real! I love the animal crackers!! You are great!! And that little Harper is just precious!!!! Have a Fantastic Friday and God Bless!!!

I will link later but I wanted to add that you should get a really cute air tight jar for the animal crackers!!

Your kitchen is beautiful LOVE your cabinets. As for your breakfast room, you are right you won't start using it until your daughter is about 2 and you want to start teaching her table manners and show everyone eats as a family. Also, we have the same everyday pattern. The Mikasa Country Italian. Love that pattern. Thanks for sharing. My house is so blah I am not sharing but I am going to start looking!!

Your kitchen is gorgeous! Alsmost so gorgeous that I didn't want to post mine! But, I did anyways. :) I love this idea!!!

Such a gorgeous kitchen. I'll spare you of mine. It's original to the house. Goldenrod countertops, dark wood cabinets and a chippy linoleum tile floor that matches said goldenrod countertop. For now I shall live vicariously and imagine that I'm cooking in yours, 'kay? I won't even care about the animal crackers. In fact, I may help myself to a handful! :)

I posted my kitchen, but in a different light. I don't have a pretty kitchen and I am messy so there is stuff everywhere. My kitchen does tell a bit of a story about my life right now - so I posted mine in that vein - instead of "shwoing it off" which I would never do because there is nothing to show off!

Hi Kelly,
Have not ever commented but I have enjoyed seeing the Lord work in your little Harper's life, what a praise !! I guess I do have a little in common, being an Arkansan for 24 years, Pine Bluff!! The tour has been fun. The Lord has blessed us with 13 children so our kitchen is very used!!!!

Oh, I love your kitchen too!! I miss my old kitchen in NC and that openness. We moved to NH almost 4 years ago and I have a totally different kitchen now. I can't wait to share mine a little later today. What a fun idea to do this.

I have a question. I just did a post in March about my kitchen. Can I link to it, or does it have to be a new post?

I LOVE your kitchen!! The cabinets are awesome!

I have a baker's rack too, but since my son decided to start climbing on it, I had to move it to the laundry room.

Heather said...

Hey Kelly! I went ahead and posted my link. If it has to be a new post, feel free to delete me from Mr. Linky. I won't be upset!

BTW, I don't think I have ever commented on your blog, but I have been a reader for a LONG time now. My BFF and I are ADDICTED to your blog. She has e-mailed you a couple of times. She's the one who had the Easter dress made that was inspired from Harper's dress.

Harper is absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!

Kelly,

Thank you for Show us where you live Friday!! What a fun way to spend a Friday at work, touring beautiful kitchens :) Our kitchen is on our project list, so I am getting great ideas. I will sit this one out on the tour, but may join in on other rooms.

I hope you enjoyed your week off! I missed seeing pictures of Miss Harper, she is adorable!

Hi Kelly. We've never met nor have I commented before. But I love your blog and can't believe the coincidences. I am 7 years older than you and your older photos seemed familiar to me (especially from your mom's blog). My boys are almost grown, however. Hard to believe! We lived in Mountain Home, AR for ten years during the time you were in high school, and I wondered if your high school photos from Flippin made the paper? I love your home and your parents home and location is my ideal home, truly. I have always wanted to live in the country, on some acreage.........just like they do. Can't believe we could have visited their church to meet them. Had no idea we were from the same neck of the woods at one time.

To be honest with you, as soon as I graduated high school, I had a sense that I would be infertile. I cannot explain it other than I KNEW. Because of this and my desire to have children, I married very young (20) and had our first son at age 22. Second son at age 25 and by 26, I was infertile. 3 miscarriages (4 babies) and since then, no conceptions. Good news on that is we don't have to worry about it, but still sad. Leaving our fertility in God's hands to no avail. But He knows best, doesn't He? I was obviously meant to be the mom to 2 boys, early in my adult life. Now I can focus on my husband since we will be so young as empty nesters. I'm now 42 and married 22 years!!! Wow!

Your family and your daughter is precious. Your joy and true intention comes through in every post. You are touching people's lives because you have figured out how to be utterly authentic, with no apologies. So refreshing!!

Thank you for sharing your life with us,

Cheri

LOVE your kitchen! We custom built a house a couple of years ago (have since moved) and our cabinets looked identical to that. Loved them. Oh, and we are so much alike in other areas, as well...

1.We didn't register for china either, b/c we knew that we would never eat off of it with our guests (my husband was a youth pastor at the time. HA!)
2.I have those exact same amber colored jars.
3.I always have a jar full of animal cookies that stay on our counter. The first thing my husband does when he comes home for work, is grab a handful of those.
4.I don't like anything on my counters that is not decorative (toasters, coffee pot, blenders, etc.)

So fun! Love this idea. I'll be linking my kitchen soon.

Have a terrific weekend!!

hanks for doing this, Kelly. We are just now moving into a new house (our first!) and I'm in desperate need of ideas. We have literally no decorations so it's going to make our house beautiful, but at least it's a new construction with some beauty of its own. We're not closed yet or I'd post pictures!

I'm sure I will come back to your tour of homes many, many times for inspiration!!!

I believe you go to the same church as my parents, maybe when we are visiting I'll run into you there.
Thanks for visiting my blog. I am confused a bit with how it all works, but my husband is a computer programmer so I've got to get him to help me.
