Gimme a Break

I wanted to let you know that I'm going to take a little Blogging Hiatus. I'll say for a week - but I might come back early.

Next to my family and Jesus (and Sonic cokes and reality TV) - there is nothing I love more than blogging. I love the community, the support, the laughs, the friendship and the prayers SO much!!!!

But lately I have felt so overwhelmed with being a new mom and everything else - I think I just need a small break. I have also had a few things happen lately that have almost made me quit blogging for good. But I blog to
a. record memories of my family
b. to share my faith
c. it's so much fun
so there is no stopping me until the internet pulls the plug.

You might want to wait a week to e-mail me also because I'm going to try and break from that as well.

Last year about this time I took a week long break. The result of that was Harper! So who knows what good might happen this time!!! (not another baby hopefully. Not yet!)

But in a week when I'm back I'll have lots to report from family visits, play group, lunch with friends, recipes, Harper outfits, fashion reports and more.

And I had an idea.........when I was pregnant - I did a "Nursery Tour" and we did a linky thing where you could post your nurseries and we could all peek. (Don't bother looking for this post - the links have disappeared????) Anyway - what if each Friday - I did a linky thing and we could tour each other's homes room by room??? Like all kitchens one week and then living rooms and so on! It would be a fun way to see other blogs and get ideas!!! What do you think??? Any other ideas???? It won't be Boomama's Christmas Tour of Homes - but it could be interesting! So maybe we'll start next Friday!

In the meantime - pray for all the single girls, girls waiting for a child, all the special needs on my links list, the Compassion trip to India (they are leaving tomorrow - Angie Smith is one of the ones going) and just pray for your own families. I'll miss you and I'll see you in a week!!!

I'll miss you. Hopefully it isn't someone saying something mean that's getting you down. Please don't let that upset you. You do so much good with your blog, and it would be a shame to let some negative person ruin that!

Yay for breaks - enjoy it. (and please keep blogging, yours is a precious thing to read and I am excited for the time that I get to bumble my way through first-time motherhood as I'm sure every other woman in the world has done before me and reading your experiences, trials and triumphs makes me that much more excited for it - thank you for sharing!) :-)

I will SERIOUSLY miss reading your posts and getting my daily Harper fix, but I completely understand. I took a six month break from blogging (PLEASE don't do that ha ha!) and it felt good. I ♥ the idea of doing home tour. You know what I love seeing most? The room/desk where people sit to blog...I'm such a visual person, I love being able to think of where someone is sitting when they write. Anyway, enjoy some time off!!

I totally respect and admire that you are taking a Blog-cation.

Being a new Mommy is very overwhelming and alot of work. Believe me I am experiencing just that while chasing around a very active 22 month old as well.

You are such an inspiration to so many, so I hope you will continue to share your faith.

Have a wonderful week.

I will miss reading your blog and seeing pictures of you and your family. You such an inspiration to Mothers, Christians and everyone. Thank you for your post and prayer request.

Have fun on your break! I love the house idea. Another thing I think would be fun is to have a caption contest every week. You could take a picture of Harper or Dawson and then people could comment and make a caption. I thought of this idea with the picture of Harper in the outfit that matches her room. She is looking at her belly and it looks like she's saying "Yea, this belly? It isn't going to feed itself..." So cute!

I don't comment too often, but just wanted to say that I'm going to miss reading your posts while you're your bloggy break. I understand though, I was just thinking today that I really need to take a break from my computer or seriously start limiting my usage. It can be so addicting and time consuming.

Hope you enjoy your week off!

I'm glad you're taking care of yourself...even if that means blogging takes a backseat.
House Tours Friday sounds like a neat idea.
Maybe you could also do Favorite Outfit Friday...and folks could post pictures of either themselves or their kiddos in their fav outfit.
Maybe that'd be too personal? IDK.

I will miss reading your blog! I recently started a blog and it is overwhelming--I cannot imagine keeping up as much as you do! enjoy your time--babies grow to fast! I know my oldest is 11! Take care and i hope nothing too bad has happened to cause you to want to stop blogging!

Please don't quit blogging for good. I know some people have left you some rude comments lately...I couldn't believe how much my first negative comment affected me...but please don't let THAT be the reason you leave. I've been wanting to send you an email for a while now...since I've started my journey to built a relationship with a church in my area and God. I know you're so busy and get so many emails I don't want to add to your "To Do" list but I do want you to know that you're an inspiration and have indirectly helped me a lot in the past few weeks. I admire your faith so much and hope one day to be half as faithful as you are.

Kelly-
I found your blog a few days after Harper was born and as a new mommy myself I couldn't imagine having to endure what you did with Harper - my heart truly ached for you and Scott. I began to check back every day to see how Harper was doing. As I read each day I was in awe of how stead fast and true you were to your faith - you never lost sight of He who would guide you through.

Reading your blog has helped me re examine my relationship with God and reconnect to my faith. My husband and I have begun to have discussions about how we can begin to help our daughter foster her relationship with God. I thank you for that.

I hope this break will give you some time to relax and enjoy your family. Being a (new) mommy is a tough job and at times this job can consume every second of every minute.

I will look foreward to new updates in a week.

Take Care-
Jennifer

Hi Kelly,

Have a wonderful and blessed bloggy break.

Just wanted to let you know that I VERY much enjoy reading your posts, and I hope someone isn't being rude or mean! You have encouraged me in so many ways, and even though we've never met, I feel very blessed that you allow me to "peek" into your life. Little Harper is also a constant reminder of how God works in ways that we don't understand, but to never stop trusting in Him. This week, after almost 2 years of trying I lost my baby at 9 weeks. You have no idea what your testimony means to me! Have a nice break, hope to see you back again soon!

I'm glad you're listening to your soul and, if it says, "break" then break it should be. I do hate that it sounds as if someone's been nasty which has helped to cause your hiatus.

I love the Friday idea. In fact, early in my own blog, I participated in a room tour of some sort here on your site. It wasn't a nursery but maybe a "favorite room" tour of some kind.

Enjoy!

I love the home tour idea. It's so funny that you mentioned it because I was going to leave you a comment and ask you to post a picture of your kitchen after I saw a tiny glimpse of it in your earlier post today! I love, love, love the idea. I've got my house on the market right now and I would love some advice from anybody about how to make it look more appealing in pictures! I think internet pictures are what sells a lot of houses anymore, at least it gets people in the door.

2. Harper is so cute and I couldn't imagine not seeing a daily picture of that cute girl in her flowers and bows!

Good for you!! You deserve some time to yourself with your sweet Harper and Hubby. Grant it, I will miss reading your blog, but you need to take care of you and your family first and for most. I will use this time to catch up with your previous posts!! I hope no one is getting you down with their posts. Like Thumper's momma used to say, "If you can't say something nice, don't say nothing at all!" They should keep their ugly comments to themselves. You seem to be the sweetest, caring, loving and Godly woman around. Keep your chin up girl!! That's just the devil talking through them. Enjoy your break! You will be missed!!

The linky thing is a great idea. But don't keep it just indoors. Now is a great time of year to show off our gardens and maybe get some ideas from each other.

I LOVE the picture of you and Harper in your matching t shirts!! SO cute!! And your hair is cute too, but I actually like it better straight. You know, the way you wear it every day. :) I think you and Harper are both adorable and I'm sad that there are people who feel the need to put others down. I hope you enjoy your break and know that we will miss you while you're "gone"! Enjoy your time with your family!!

Oh I'll miss you and sweet Harper, but I know the newness of a baby all to well to understand! It's gonna be a long week without my visits to your blog! Maybe I'll venture out and visit others, but I know I will still be checking in...just because!! Enjoy your break, and soak up the kisses and sweet baby love!

Katie said...

It's funny (not in a haha way) that you should post that you are taking a break because I was only thinking about how overwhelming it must be to have so many people follow your blog and e-mail you. And being the caring sort of person that you are you feel compelled to reply to everyone I am sure.
I hope you enjoy your break - you will enjoy it! I work from home and am sat in front of my computer way too much. When we moved I had no internet for a couple of days and it was weird but I felt a lot free-er somehow!

We'll miss you, sweet Kelly. Enjoy your haitus! Can't wait to catch up with you when you return!

Will miss ya, but want you to have a lovely time off.
I think your "tour of rooms" sounds fantastic. I'll join in on most of it, but we're working on several rooms here now.

Oh I hope you haven't been the victim of evil commenters who leave nasty, anonymous comments about what you're doing wrong and all that. IGNORE those people (if indeed that's happened). You are such a HUGE blessing and encouragement to so many women! May God bless you abundantly and also, have a great break!!!

Thank you for letting us into your daily life. It is ok if it isn't daily. Your blog is very interesting, love seeing that darling baby, and love your ideas.

Krista said...

Ha! I took a MONTH-long break in March, so take what you need. I am a relatively new reader (sincer Harper was born), and your style is just so easy and positive. I also share your faith in Jesus and PK history, so it's refreshing to be "surrounded" by other Christians. I enjoy reading your perspective, and I think Harper is just so adorable.

Enjoy your time off! I hope your reason for leaving wasn't because of some mean trolls. I find your blog to be inspirational.

ALSO--I hope you know about the Bevin's family news. GOD IS GOOD!

Totally feel you on the new mom needs a break however she can get it! :-) I think the house tour would be a great idea!

You are open to a lot of folks, so you may get some nasty comments. Please just delete them and ignore them, Kelly. You are a shining light for Jesus. The enemy of our souls doesn't like that.

As soon as I saw the title I thought "uh-oh" ... please come back to blogging soon! I love your blog so much! Your new posts brighten my workday so much each day.

You are one amazing lady and I love hearing about Harper, what God is doing in your life, and what you are doing for others. I can't understand why people would be mean to someone's blog they visit -- but I've heard many stories of nasty emails and comments from my bloggy friends. Don't let it get you down. I can see God's love shining through your family and blog and that is so awesome!

Enjoy the break and bring back lots of fun pics!

I just wanted to key in to tell you that I, too, will miss your blog. I find so much inspiration for keeping a positive attitude from your blog each day - and your faith is just too incredible for words! Finally, I love seeing how much you love and adore Harper, your miracle and ours. Don't EVER let anything convince you to do anything BUT continue your blog. This is what God MEANT for you to do! Have fun on your Blog-Hiatus! 'Can't wait for new "episodes"!!!! And I hope you have plans for a 20th reunion, that will of course include Harper!

Love the home tour idea! I, too, have almost forced myself to QUIT reading blogs because it seems like I every blog I find has a deveastatingly sad story and I end up in tears! It's somewhat emotionally draining. So, I'd LOVE to do more fun, happy blogging things along with you... I'm getting too sad (not to mention paranoid to have another baby for fear that it will be sick or die on me). Love your fun pics, shopping links, and all the other mindless FUN & HAPPY! Enjoy your break :)

Erin said...

Oh boy, I totally relate to what Danielle from Living Out Loud is saying! I need to STOP reading blogs that have a daily updates on sad stories, oh of course I pray for these families, but I find myself going to the blog over and over and over again. Not good. I don't know I sometimes wonder how much we should be sharing with the whole world wide web, some is just so personal and emotionally deep and it seems that it should be reserved for family and friends. I love this blog and I love your Mom's blog as well. A break is good, I'm going to take a break from reading blogs for a while, I think that is what God is speaking to me during this season,

Donna said...

Hi Kelly, Enjoy your break from blogging! You deserve it, although what will I do without my Harper fix?!LOL Take notes so we don't miss anythig little sweetie does. I can't imagine anyone saying anything negative on your blog, but there is always one sour grape out there. If they don't care for what you have to say, they can just mouse on over to lurk on someone else's blog. What would get to me are the prayer requests for sick children. I know you must be inundated with them. And you can only cry so much. Preachers deal with this all the time, maybe your Dad can give you some insight. But enjoy the time with your family and precious little Harper. I'll handle the withdrawl by reading old posts. Oh, yeah. Went by the Baby Garden site.Wow, what cute things. Love it all.
Keeping you in my heart in Ga.

Funny story: I was driving my oldest son to a college visit today (I'm 38 and can't believe I'm doing this) and on the radio I hear that today is "bow appreciation day" the first thing that comes to my mind is YOU!!!!! Then I was sad to think that I wouldn't get to see Harper in one of her FANTASTIC bows on Bow appreciation day.....its ok though I will just look back at some of your other fabulous ones from before. Enjoy your week off!!! Miss ya :)

I read your blog every day. I don't usually comment because I know you have so many to read. I had Harper on my blog when she was in the hospital. I wanted everyone who came across mine to see her and pray. My sister doesn't even have a blog but she looks at yours regularly now.
I'm praying that you will not allow any negative comments or whatever almost caused you to stop get you to doubting or feeling bad.
You bless so many and more importantly God is glorified through you and your blog. We have all experienced a miracle by you sharing your little Harper with us.
I'm praying for you while you're on your blogging break. Praying you are uplifted, energized and encouraged.
