Under the Weather

IMPORTANT: I'm sure you all read Mckmama - but if you don't - please go here and pray for her baby Stellan. He was a miracle baby but he is now having very serious health issues. They need our prayers.

I haven't written in the last few days because I've been dealing with my first big challenge as a mommy - "Momma doesn't get sick days".
I have been pretty sick all day Friday and Saturday. I think more than anything it is just exhaustion because Harper didn't sleep much the few nights before and I just hadn't had any rest. I don't get sick very often but it is especially hard to be sick and have to take care of a baby.
My parents were here on Friday so that helped a lot. My dad went with me to help me clean out my office. They had a cake for me and gave me some sweet parting gifts. My work was so supportive about me leaving - it meant so much to me. We enjoyed having Nonny and Granddaddy here.

I felt better Saturday morning and my friend Hillary was in town so Laurie and I met her for brunch at Mimi's. YUM! I was so excited all week because my favorite muffin was in season - chocolate banana! It is the BEST! The company was even better - I love my friends. Those two girls make me laugh so hard.
This is how I spent the rest of the day on Saturday. Harper doesn't nap during the day most of the time but I think she knew mommy was tired and needed some rest. She and I sat on the couch and she fell asleep in my lap so we laid there for 4 hours and slept together. I think we both needed that! (She is OUT in this picture. ha!)
Here is my girl this morning - her onesie says "Not spoiled, BLESSED!". So true! Scott went to church and I am home watching some local churches on TV. I'm missing singing in the choir this morning. I look forward to being able to worship again soon! (although I worship alone by myself all the time!)
Hope you are having a good weekend. It's spring break here this week and it seems like everyone is on a fabulous trip. Vacations are one of the best things EVER! Sometimes planning a trip and the anticipation are just as great as the trip itself.

Also - I love how small blogging makes the world. You remember how I told you that I discovered that the dr who delivered Harper was my long lost friend from 4th grade? Well I saw the comments from another blogger this week and she and her sister went to church with us when we lived in that same town. I had to tell her what a small world it was and that I knew her! And then the next day - she delivered a little boy and he has pneumonia and is in the NICU. Luckily- he is doing better than Harper did at first - but he could still use our prayers. Go look at Tenille's blog and pray for little Will.

Also - this young mother lost her husband and the father of her two young boys yesterday to a brain tumor. Please pray for peace and comfort.

I hope you feel better soon! I am home from church this morning myself...my little Lucy has been running a temp for the last few days, so I am keeping her in. This may sound silly, but I sometimes think God lets us be sick or lets our little ones be sick to give us some slow-down time. Mommies need that so much! I try to see the blessings in everything as much as I can...as I know you do to. Thanks for all of your sweet words!!

Have a wonderful Lord's Day!

Love ya!

I'm home from church too...my girl has asthma so we have to keep her out of the nursery for a few more months. Sorry you've been sick but it sounds like you were smart and just rested when you could! I had a post ready about some earrings I got after reading your post on recession fashion and then something else happened but in the next few days I'll do it and let you know. I thought it was hilarious and I hope you do too. I love Harper's shirt!

Sorry you've been sick! It's so hard on a mom. I woke up at 4 this morning feeling like I was getting a stomach virus. I was begging God, PLEASE NO! My hubby is preaching all 3 services at church today and it just would have been awful. I hope you feel better asap! And I hope Harper starts taking naps for her mommy.

When my first son was 8 weeks old, I got very sick. Throwing up, the works. It was horrid. I thought there was no way I could take care of him, continuing to nurse him every three to four hours. God took care of me, as it was the first night he slept all night! (That trend didn't continue for a few more weeks, but God knew I needed it that night!)
Hope you feel better soon, and BOY your pictures are adorable! :)

Get well soon! I just love sweet Harper! She is so precious. She reminds me of my Gracie-now 4! Enjoy this time, because they grow up so fast! I am glad you will get to stay home with her. That is the one thing I wanted to do, but with my son being on the Autism spectrum, I had to stay teaching to keep up woth him and put him in the school I wanted. It is a huge plus to have inside connections! Enough about me! I am glad whe is happy, healthy & beautiful!

Happy Sunday Kelly. I am glad you are feeling better. I went through the same thing this week. I am a single mom of a 6 year old little boy and we were both sick. I did call my mom crying this week because it is hard to be a sick Mom and take care of a sick child. It was very difficult. Ms. Harper is beautiful. I love looking at all her pictures you post everyday.

Aha! You finally learned. Mom's are not allowed to get sick. How I used to long for the luxury of being sick and having someone take care of me. Not happening.

We had a good service this morning. It was a salvation message. Mike Huckabee was in our town filming a special about saving us. We have a horrible unemployment rate. It is heartbreaking. Our pastor focused on saving our community spiritually.

My youngest daughter is expecting again. The time is drawing close where she suffers from miscarriage. She has been inspired by all of Harper's bows and would like a little girl!

Hang in there. This too shall pass. I promise. Those sleepless nights and isolated days will pass.

Oh, being the sick one is the worst! Well, not worse than seeing your baby sick, but it's so hard to keep up the care of our little ones and the house, etc when we don't feel well.

Harper looks so cute sleeping. I love that "I surrender" sleep pose. :)

I have NO problem with mommies who work outside of the home... but, I adore being a SAHM, and I'm so glad you get to enjoy that too! It is hard! - but, comes with so many special blessings.

By the way, enjoy the naps that Harper and you can take lying together... my son is now 20 months old and naps well - but not when I try and hold him, ha.

I hope you get to go back to church soon. How long before Harper can go out with others?

Love your blog :)

Kelly-

I have been following your blog since Miss Harper was born and have been praying for you both. I am so happy to see you are both doing so well now. I know you have heard everyone in the worlds sad story but I also know many many people look at your blog every day. A good friend's baby has been in the hospital for 6 months now and the doctors have given up all hope. I am posting this in hopes that other visitors to your site will read it and pray. Right now prayer is her only hope, there is nothing medically that can be done. This baby has been a miracle for the last six months, overcoming many obstacles and needs just one more miracle. I wish to protect the family's privacy, so I will not give details. If anyone who reads this will please pray for baby RENEE I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!!! I will post an update if I am able.

Thank you for the extra prayers on our behalf. I cannot begin to comprehend what God has in store for us at this point in time, but Brian always told me God must think pretty highly of us to feel we are capable of handling all of this. He always said there must be some higher purpose for the boys and me if he were to go early. I trust completely that is the case. I know that prayers will make that possible.
