Friday the 13th Hodge Podge

Guess who is 8 weeks today?????

We have learned that our three favorite times of the day are right when Harper wakes up - she's usually very happy and that's when I race like Carl Lewis to get her dressed and take her picture of the day or otherwise I'm out of luck, 12:30 when Daddy comes home for lunch and between 5:30 and 6 when we hear the garage door come up and Daddy is home from work.

This is what Daddy sees when he comes through the kitchen. The 3 of us anxiously waiting for him to be home. That garage door opening has become music to my ears. (And yes - there is my trusty laptop always next to me on the couch. And yes - I'm looking at etsy. I have to stop). I have a whole set up on the couch - I constantly have the TV remotes, my phone, a drink, my laptop, a burp cloth, a paci and my boppy all within reach. And that is where we camp out for the day.
I am newly in charge of taking flowers to the hospital to all new mothers in our Sunday School class. We have a class fund and it's so fun to go and visit and bring them. However a girl in our class, Robin, had little Caleb a few weeks ago and I couldn't go to the hospital and I totally forget in all my sleeplessness to send her any so FINALLY last night I went to Wal-Mart and got some to make her an arrangement. I'm as far from a florist as you can get but I thought this turned out pretty good. Harper and Dawson and I loaded up and took it to her today. The 3 of us have started getting in the car most days and just taking a short drive - anywhere we can drive through. Most days it's Sonic and some back roads. Harper sleeps in her car seat and Dawson loves taking rides.
P.S. I had to let Robin know that Harper could never date Caleb because their LAST name is Harper. Life would be tough if her name had to be Harper Harper. Can't let it happen. I spent half of my life worried to death that the man I fell in love with would have the last name Kelley. ha!
Look what came in the mail today?? Rhonda over at Cute Bling Things made this for her!!! OH yes - she will be sporting this in a picture coming soon!!!! So precious!
Well - that's about it. Hope ya'll have a wonderful Spring weekend!! The bradford pear trees are in bloom here in Arkansas and that puts a skip in my step always! Something about spring time that just makes you feel hopeful, know what I mean??

I love this pic of Harper. Not that I don't love all the pink and purple, but sometimes its refreshing to see little girls in other colors!

Glad that all is going well and that the bradford pears are in bloom. Hoping that comes sooner rather than later for us here in Kansas City!

Blessings to you from Kansas!

Wow...8 weeks already! It goes by so fast once you have kids! :) Harper is adorable, as always. You couch set-up looks strangely familiar! haha! :)

SO cute. Harper's dress is adorable. I think I saw one like it at Old Navy this winter, but if it the same one, it looks so much cuter on!

Your flowers turned out great!

I had a friend named Kelly who married a boy named Seamus Kelley (gotta love those Irish names) and she totally goes by Kelly Kelley.

I Love that dress she has on today! I am glad you are getting to get out a little bit. I can totally relate to you on the couch. Once I get home I do the same thing and I don't have a baby! Romeo and I get very excited when we hear the garage door open and Matt walks in! Hope you all have a great weekend!

Spring makes my step "springy" too! Unfortunately it seems to go straight from winter to summer around here. Kaya got a sunburn playing in the back yard yesterday!

Does Harper like going outside? Now that it's warmer, maybe you can "camp out" outside a bit. My girls have always loved being outside. Unfortunately, Jordan still puts everything into her mouth.

Love the tutu, by the way.

Come see me here sometime:

I just posted on my blog and also used the words "hodge podge" - too funny!

We are loving some spring weather too! The bradfords are beautiful in Mississippi as well. We have had a few cold days, but next week is to be beautiful, and lucky for us, it is Spring Break for my 1st grader...yay! Harper is just a doll, and we love looking at her pictures everyday. She is a cute-patootie and Lucy would say!

And the garage door opening sound is the best sound...totally understand...we live for hearing it every afternoon!!

Have a happy weekend!

that dress is adorable!!! It's a good thing you have a blog because it would be such a waste for no one to ever see all of these cute clothes!

Since it's warmer outside you should roll the windows down on your drives...... that way your fellow drivers can see her in all of her cuteness!

And my sister had a teacher named Kelley Kelly. Obviously it was her married name, but at least it was spelled differently!

Jackie said...

You can come and arrange flowers for me any time - nice job!

She is seriously such a doll! And your couch setup made me laugh - how well I remember sitting on the couch, surrounded by all the essentials of life.

I remember carting a basket around with me when my daughter was teeny. I was a little psycho about the breast feeding, so I carried a timer and a note pad to keep track...

I also wanted to say that I knew a girl who after getting married had the same middle and last name. Not quite as bad, but still. Jessica Lynn Lynn. Eek.

She looks so sweet in her little dress! How in the world has it alredy been 8 weeks??

We are the same way when Josh gets home except I meet him at the door holding Brody! Haha! He doesn't get to come home for lunch since he is in Lowell, so we LOVE when it is 5:30!!

I used to joke with people when I was pregnant and tell them if we had a girl we were going to name her Frances Francis!! :)

Hi Kelly! I have enjoyed your blog and LOVE all the pictures you post of Harper! When we have kids, I hope to keep my blog updated with daily pictures since my family lives in Pennsylvania and we live in New Hampshire. I was wondering, some of the knit hats and headbands that you put on Harper have silk flowers on them - can you tell how those flowers are attached? My husband's grandmother made knit baby caps for my friends soon to be born twin girls and they are just screaming to have flowers on them, but I wasn't quite sure how to attach them...suggestions?

Thanks!

I'm just hoping it doesn't kill all of those beautiful blooms. I'm decorating my house today for Easter to get me back in the spring mood. LOL You have received some of the cutiest things! She will be the cutiest baby in NWA all summer! Hopefully the two of you can start getting out and seeing others soon.

Hey Kelly! I've been following your blog for a few months now. I'm new to the blogging world and I have really enjoyed reading all about Miss Harper! She is just precious! I loved the purple tulips too! Here's a tip for tulips --- if you put a penny in the vase it will keep the tulips perky. My tulips always get a little droopy and the penny makes them perk right back up. :)

I remember when I had CHarlotte, I had the same set up!! But, now, with Charlotte being 2 and all...I have stuff EVERYWHERE from chasing her around..I leave stuff here and there!! But, before I sit down to feed Audrey, I try and make sure I have a drink and atleast the burp cloth. And, if not, Charlotte LOVES to "fetch" stuff!! ha ha
I love how you take Dawson with you on your car rides. I would have loved to do that with our SIdney, but getting a black lab into the back of the pick-up would have been troublesome! Good thing Dawson is CAR SIZED!! he he!
PS. Harper is ADORABLE!

I had to laugh about you telling her that your daughter could never marry her son b/c of their last name. I grew up with a guy whose last name was Shirley. Can you guess what his Mom's first name was?? Yep, Shirley!! I always thought that was too cute!
Speaking of cute, Miss Harper is definitely that.
After nursing 3 kiddos as a SAHM, I TOTALLY understand the whole camping out on the couch thing, either that or in the recliner!! ;) Probably why our furniture gave up the ghost shortly after the 3rd child. That and 2 boys jumping all over it and off it! ;)

That dress she has on today is so cute! Where did you get that? In the picture with y'all all three on the couch...she looks like a baby doll! Haha! She looks just like a little doll hanging on your arm! I'm sure that is her Daddy's favorite time of day, too. You did good on the bouquet...I'm sure your girlfriend loved it! Sweet gesture! And it probably was a nice thing to receive it now a few weeks after her birth. My sister Kelly dated a guy in college named Kelly. His last name was Parker, and she had always thought about naming a son Parker. That would have been a weird family signature...Kelly, Kelly, and Parker Parker. Haha! (She luckily didn't marry him. For other reasons of course. I think. Ha!) And I'm always worried about Amelia's monogram, as well as this baby that's on the way...if it is a girl... for when they get married and it changes. ;o) Oh well, I think I have some time to postpone that worry for now...

Kisses to Princess Harper, and y'all have a FABULOUS spring weekend!

Kelly you are too cute! Happy 8 Weeks Harper!!! First of all I have to let you know how much I appreciated your comment on Jenna's blog about immunizations and Synagis shots not fazing you as you know Harper has been through and can handle SO much more. I feel the same way, but I sometimes wonder if the nurses feel I am not a loving mom because I am not the typical overly worried and freaked out first time mommy each time she gets a shot. :) Now the IV she had put in this past weekend, that was a totally different story- I was crying as soon as Cadence fell asleep and wouldn't see me cry.

Anyways, I love your blog and your recipe blog. You are so creative and talented with such a big heart for your family, your friends and the Lord. And you have a great sense of humor. Very sweet of you to go make a personalized handmade arrangement for the friend at church with all you have going on right now!

We, too, spent much of the first few months home from the NICU camped out in the hibernation that comes with RSV season. She never nursed, but I spent what felt like all day on the couch hooked up to a breast pump. Isn't it amazing how no matter how well you think you have your couch and end table arranged, once you get into a position where you can't move, you realize the phone, remote, etc is just barely out of reach?!

You guys are so cute there all together on the couch! I totally know what you mean about the garage door. My hubby gets home a few hours after me...so it is my favorite sound :)

Harper gets prettier every day.
I have a friend whose first name is Kimberly and so is her last. She goes by Kim. It's hysterical!

Haha. My dad used to have an employee named Carol Carroll. For the longest time I thought he was just saying her name funny or something- but no no- she married a man with the same last name as her first.

oh yes Harper Harper would be a no go. Love her pic of the day. I know what you mean about the door opening. When I hear hubbys truck it's like angels singing! HOpe you all have a wonderful weekend!

She keeps getting cuter by the day! I always look forward to your posts...and YES...there is something magical about spring time. It just feels like a fresh start!

Too funny about your name! My friend from high school's name was Carrie and she married John Carrey. Too funny! She ended up hyphenating her maiden and married name to break up the Carrie part. Love your blog.

Sounds pretty familiar to what my "set up" looked like when I had my baby. All my favorite things, within arms reach!

I've got your blog button proudly displayed on my blog, but I was wondering one thing...
Are you thinking about creating a new button...
well, since Harper is so perfectly, wonderfully healthy and all?

I don't have a ton of time tonight (in the middle of painting two rooms and moving furniture and so on!) but I do have to say I LOVE the dress Harper has on in this last picture!!!

I so know what you mean about the sound of the garage door! :)

The floral arrangement is beautiful--great job!!! And what a sweet idea for your class to do--that's neat!

Precious pictures of Harper! I can't wait to see the picture of her in the new outfit/tutu--very cute!

I laughed about Kelly Kelley. Having a boy name, I was always afraid I'd marry a "Jamie" and it would always be total confusion. That would have been my time to start going by "Leah", I'm sure! ha!

Harper is growing so fast. She's beautiful and soooo photogenic. Seeing pics of her causes me to reminisce of when my little guy was only eight weeks old. He's six and a half months now. You learn to enjoy every stage that they're in. These little people grow up so fast. You look lovely and not even like you've popped a baby out just eight short weeks ago. God bless! Thanks for the updates. Harper is just perfect.

I had to laugh when I read your post about being worried you'd fall in love with a man with the last name Kelly . This happened to my aunt. True story, and she has happily been Kelly Kelly for over 20 years.

Very cute outfits and flowers. My very best friend is Alyson Allison. She was true to it and didn't hyphenate or keep her maiden name. It grows on you! :) Have a good weekend.

She's such a beautiful baby, of course she is a Gift From God! Are you planning on returning to work in the near future? Have you begun to make child care arrangements? My daughter's Mother-in-law and I take turns sitting the grandbabies, but everyone is not so lucky.

Gorgeous, as always! I am off work and my lovely husband sees me in the same spot almost daily when he comes home. He doesn't seem to mind.

I am headed to Arkansas in early June. I can't wait. It should be well warm enough for the kids to swim and me to lay out!

The flowers look great!

Harper is just adorable!! I found your blog through proverbs 31, when Harper was in the hospital. I was hooked, I love seeing the Lord at work in people's lives. My son, Max had to have emergency open heart surgery at 2 weeks old. Our mighty Savior and some amazing doctors were able to repair his heart. I wanted to share a fundraising website we have. If you have a free moment (like all new moms do HA!) check it out. We are raising money for Camp Taylor. Camp Taylor is a camp for kids with heart disease. Again,Harper is so precious! Have a blessed day! THANKS!!

Oh my gosh!! One of my favorite things to do when I had newborns was to take a road trip to Sonic!! Then I would drive around and explore new neighborhoods. I think it is crucial to get out of the house once a day!!!!

okay so I just read your Friday post and it made me feel so much better about myself - because I just spent my WHOLE day, or make that my whole week - sitting in our chair with the same set up!!! Hearing other moms do the same thing with their newborns is very comforting!
I am just impressed Harper is always dressed, poor Reece is yet to get out of her jammies!!!
