Happy One Week Birthday to Harper!

One week ago today - we got up at 4 a.m. and got ready for the biggest day of our lives. We took this picture of my belly right before I left. Little did we know there was an almost 10 pound baby in there!!!!! Of course - I never dreamed all throughout the day that it would have turned out like it did. I thought I would be holding my little baby soon after delivering and we would all look and admire her and then take her home in her perfect white dress the next day.

God's ways are not our ways.

Last night I received an e-mail from a lady who accepted Jesus as her savior after finding my blog last Friday and praying for Harper which led her to re-open her Bible for the first time in years. Every second of the last week has been worth it for that fact alone. And we truly mean that.

And we are so blessed. We got here this morning and I almost started jumping up and down in the NICU because Harper is at 43% oxygen!!!! She is doing SO well and I swear she looks prettier today than she did yesterday.

Here she is with both her proud grandmas!!! This poor girl is going to be spoiled rotten.

P.S. Jennifer N. in NC - I got your beautiful flowers!!! And we took them to share with the RM house! Thank you so much!

I'll try to do a few more updates throughout today when I get time!

We are rejoicing with you all! He is near to you all today as you call upon Him.
Psalm 145:18 says, "The LORD is near to all who call on Him, to all who call upon Him in Truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear Him, He also hears their cry and saves them."

Happy 1 Week, Harper!

Life does have a funny way of bringing people together for both the good and bad. I am SO GLAD this story is starting to have a happy ending for your family!

my name is kristi and i am from texas, long story short 14 years ago i gave birth to my son and he had to be rushed to dallas because of health reasons when we arrived he (a 9 lb baby) was also on 100% oxygen and we were told that he would probably not make it. To make a long story short i remember being told all the stages he was gonna take and we were looking at 3 to 4 months , we were also told that because of all the oxygen that he was on he could have problems later may be developmental, or in school we would just have to wait and see, so this is why i wanted to share with u my story, our son is ranked 3rd in his class , and he is active in every sport he especially loves baseball and is a reallly good lefty pitcher, there is no doubt in my mind that we could be watching him play on a pro team... my point is that from what i read about harper, the doctors told us that my son was a fighter and he was gonna enjoy life because he was out of the hospital in 2 weeks, instead of 3 to 4 months, i think harper is a fighter also, she is a miracle you will be home before u know it and she will bring you lots of joys because she too is a fighter... good luck and enjoy her.... thanks for taking the time to read this i hope it makes since, it was on my heart to let you know that all will be ok.... kristi

I keep praying, and I keep being amazed at the miracle that God is working here. Every time I read your blog (and I read your dad's yesterday), I find myself holding back real tears...and I've never even met you. I can't imagine the fear, the trust, the complete surrender that you have felt in these last days, but I do know the triumph that you're experiencing in Christ Jesus who is healing your Harper right now. And I rejoice with you. I love you all (even though I've never met you...isn't the bond of Christ such a powerful thing!) and I keep praying.

Kelly, I don't know you from Adam, but I want you to know how much your beautiful family is touching lives. My kids and I have been praying for Harper since I found your blog earlier this week. Your faith and your story is a blessing. God is so good. Continuing to pray for you all.

Ok... let me just say that you looked AMAZING the day you gave birth. I would never have posted a picture of myself that day... because I was a bloated whale of a mom! ha! when I think about what I looked like at the end I just laugh... my sister and I called myself "miss piggy"! I gained a lot of water weight! OH my word, I didn't realize that little Harper wasn't so little... she beat my biggest one... 9lbs. 7.5 oz. I do have to say that I think the bigger babies are so much cuter... they look more "normal"!

You are absolutley blessed... continuing to pray for you and your family... I know the Lord is blessing and is going to amaze all of you!

There's an old song, (does anybody remember the Imperials? I think they sang it) that I and my family have stood on many times. It really just says what God's Word says, just in a different way. The lyrics...
He didn't bring us this far, to leave us,
He didn't teach us to swim, to let us drown.
He didn't build His home in us, to move away.
He didn't lift us up, to let us down.

What a promise!! Happy one week, Harper. Already a celebrity!!
And how about the smiles on the faces of those Grandmas!!!
Praise and prayers continue.

I just found your site through another one, it reminded me so much of my sons story. He was born with several holes in his lungs a hole in his heart and pulmonary hypertention. He was flown to a specialty hospitial and we stayed at the Ronald McDonald house also. I looked at the pictures and saw the little blanket and was reminded of the moment they took my baby and gave me a "snoodle" they called them . By the time we reached the hospitial the holes in his lung were closed, the next day thy were talking about doing open heart surgery and we ask for the test to be repeated once more, the hole in his heart was gone. He remaind on the vent for a couple of weeks and then to Cpap and the had to learn to eat, but now he is a healthy 6 year old beautiful boy who has experienced the miracles of God already so many times in his young life. May God bless you and Harper as you have the awesome oppertunity to watch Gods hands preform yet another miracle.

Dear Kelly: I found your blog through BigMama and BooMama and have checked it several times a day since Harper's birth but haven't left a comment...until now...

As a relatively new, first-time Grandma myself, I was so touched at the sweet faces of Harper's two Grandma's that you posted today. The love in the faces of those two women is so apparent and while I pray for your little family, I also pray that it won't be long until Harper is rocking peacefully in the arms of her grandparents. I can't get enough of my eight month old grandson, Caleb, so know how their arms ache to hold their sweet girl and based on your good news today, I don't think it will be long!

I am so grateful to our Lord for all that he has done in Harper's life this past week. A week ago, no one but the Lord was even sure Harper would still be here today and now here she is, weaning off the oxygen little by little. I am teary-eyed just typing that!

Huge hugs to all of you from Southern California!

P.S. I love your sweet Dad's blog, also! It's like a little bit of church in my day!

I almost didn't leave a comment because you have so many to sift through, but I still felt moved to do so. I've been reading your blog for a while...might be considered stalking, I don't know. I am praying for your little girl Harper. Your faith is impressive and strong. You definitely have found your ministry, through your blogging. I'm expecting my third and until a couple of weeks ago we weren't sure if we'd be able to keep the baby. It's still not a for sure thing. I had so many people praying and I'm sure that's what helped this situation. Kisses, gentle hugs, and prayers for your angel Harper.
Take care!

After reading you sweet Harper's story there is no doubt in my mind that I belong in a NICU. Bless your beautiful baby and your beautiful family. BE STRONG HARPER!!! God has big plans for you! You are a true fighter!

She is starting to get stronger and stronger. Just wait, if she is like Cheyenne was, she will be pulling out those tubes in no time. I mean it, Cheyenne pulled them out twice at Primary Children's. After the second time, they decided that she was strong enough to not have them.

Harper is a beautiful girl and I cannot wait to see pictures of her throughout her lifetime ... at home ... with her mommy and daddy. I don't have a ton of followers on my blog, but each of us are praying for you and I have posted the button.

I saw your blog on a friend of mine and I want you to know I am praying for Harper. Back in April of 2002 I give birth to twins at 25 weeks. They spent 3 months in Childrens Hospital. It will be the BIGGEST roller coaster ride of your life, so just hang on and know that God will take care of her. When you are able to hold her I would like to suggest doing Kangaroo Care with her. I did with my babies and it works. I wish you and your family the best and will pray for you.

I have checked your blog several times since last Friday. Harper has been on my mind all week, and I don't even know you. But, she IS the prettiest little baby. While I know she is sick, she looks so healthy in the pictures. Thank you for sharing your life with us. In small ways, it feels as if I have had the opportunity to participate in God's goodness poured over your family this week. I'll continue checking in and praying for you all.

A friend lead me to your blog about a week ago. I saw the pictures of your sweet Harper on the ventilator and I felt for you. Last year I had a son who was born 7 weeks premature and he too was on a ventilator. He was in the NICU for 3 weeks. Today is a healthy 10 month old and weighs 19 lbs! I will be praying for Harper.

On another note. I grew up in South Arkansas and noticed your last name was Stamps. I didn't think much about it. That is until I saw a picture of your Mother in law! Mrs. Judy! You married Scotty! (I know you know that you married him but I just realized that Scott is Scotty!) Anyway, he may not remember me but I am from Emerson and showed pigs and I also worked at the SAU Dairy with Bill Fullenwider. Mrs. Judy and Mrs. Sherry Fullenwider were always together. It is just such a small world!

I will be praying for you and Scott and the whole family as well. I know how tiring it is having a little one in the hospital.

Blessings,

Hello Kelly, i just wanted to say that i stumbled across your page from little kalebs page. you have truly turned my life around. me and my husband have been trying to have a baby for 2 of the longest years of my life, and although we are still unsucessfull, you give me hope. your story has touched a place in my heart. god has blessed you with a beautiful miracle, and he knew only you would be able to handle the rocky road that little harper is going through right now. your faith is what got your little girl here and it is what will get her through. i have started to have doubts in god, thinking to myself what did i do to derserve the greatest punishment of all.... now that i read your story, it makes me believe that my lack in faith is holding me back. i want a child more than anything, and maybe you and your friends and families prayers can help me! i would be forever greatfull for you to keep me in your prayers, as i will keep you and your family along with little harper in mine. thank you so much for inspiring me the way that you have....

Soo happy to hear Harper is doing well ! I think of her often and pray for your beautiful family! I hope I am not being intrusive, but I noticed in the previous post that it appears that Harper has 6 toes on her one foot? Is that just a shadow in the photo or a strange angle or does she have 6 toes on one foot? I never saw you mention this in your posts. Just wondering. I continue to pray for beautiful Harper! Congrats on making such a beautiful little girl!

This is unreal! Hi--I'm Linda Miller, Jessica and Rachel's Mother-in-Law. I saw the information about your precious little girl last weekend on Jessica's blog and began thinking---I know this girl from somewhere---both you and your husband looked so familiar, as did his parents. I kept reading in the achives and could come up with nothing. THEN---I found one last summer where his parents were visiting and you all ate at Texas Land and Cattle Company. I immediately knew that was where I had seen you all and I couldn't take my eyes off you that night---I thought you were one of the most beautiful young women I had ever seen. Little did I know that you are that beautiful on the inside as well--I know from reading your blog! I even remarked to Doug (Kirk and Kyle's Dad) how beautiful you were and how much in love you and your husband seemed that evening! See---you never know who's watching, huh? When I shared this with Jessica she said that we also saw you when we did the Tour of Homes a year ago during the holidays!
Just wanted you to know that your entire family have been in our prayers and Sunday night when we meet with our Community Group from Fellowship we will tell them your story. You have amazing faith and I wanted to share a very simple scripture with you but it says it ALL---Psalm 147:3---check it out--it applies to so many areas of each of our lives. HE is there even in the midst of unsettling times and Harper is a blessed little girl! I hope to meet you in person someday---God is using you in an incredible way as I write.
Sincerely,
Linda Miller

Kelly-I've commented before, but have caught up on the blogs. Your dad is my pastor and I'm very blessed that my family and I attend his church and have he and Judy in our lives. Anyways, AMEN GOD is good and Go Harper. We (me, my husband, and 2 kids-Kaylee 6, and Caleb 4) continue to pray daily for Harper and her buddies, all of you there and your families, medical teams etc. We pray that every hand that touches you and those babies will be one of healing--physically, mentally, spiritually--anyway that it needs to be. As a nurse (open heart surgery pts, although adult ones) I must say "PLEASE rest", you are no good to Harper sick and exhausted. We love you all and will continue to pray til she is home and thriving(soon). I'm so glad GOD never sleeps or gets sick of hearing the same thing over and over. In his love.
