A birthday, a painting and First Day in Heaven

Today is my sweet friend Jamie's birthday!!!! Happy birthday to one of the most wonderful people I know!
I had asked Jamie to paint a picture for the nursery to fill up one big wall. I knew she would do a wonderful job. Scott and I often refer to Harper as our "little monkey" so I knew I wanted a monkey on the painting and I wanted this verse because it was the verse I claimed while I was waiting for a baby and I feel like it is exactly how I feel about the miracle of our daughter!
Jamie finished this painting this weekend and sent it with her mom to my mom so I could get it at thanksgiving. She sent me a picture of it and I was just delighted! It's more perfect than I had imagined! I can't wait to hang it in the nursery! I will smile every time I see it!

On a sad note - my grandfather passed away early this morning. My dad was with him and I'm so glad. Mostly I'm thankful that my Poppie is in heaven today (probably trying to tell the angels what to do - he was a lifelong army man - a colonel -and he liked to be boss). He was saved at 68 - it's never too late! :-) We will miss him but I know I will see him again one day! Please pray for us as we travel to Dallas this week - I'm a little nervous about traveling this close to having a baby but I'm sure it will be fine.

Kelly, I am devastated to hear about your grandfather. He sounded like a good man. :) Remember that all your blog friends are praying for you and thinking of your family. Harper may not have been able to meet him in person, but she will know him in spirit.

Sorry about your Poppie, we will pray for you as you travel this week. Praise God for conquering death, hell, and the grave and for the promise of eternal life with Him!

I nearly hyperventilated when I saw that painting yesterday. She kept saying, "I hope she likes it--it didn't turn out as good as I had wanted" I just kept gasping, because it was so stinkin' cute I couldn't get over it!

And another hilarious thing is the picture that we both used on our blog of Jamie. I posted my pictures, wrote my post, published it and then started checking everyone's blogs. I had to laugh when I got to yours because that was the EXACT picute that I spent ten minutes looking for on my computer and couldn't find it. I finally just picked another one from that same day!

I don't think I've left a comment before, but have been on your blog a few times, usually linking from the comments you leave on Bring the Rain. But I so enjoy your blog. My husband and I would love to have a baby and hearing your story gives me faith. I have a picture I saw this weekend that instantly reminded me of your blog... you and really your little one to come. I've tried to link to your email to send it to you but my computer makes me set up an act on outlook. If you could send me an email at cscrane99@yahoo.com I could then email it to you.

Prayers for you as you travel!

On a different note, THANK YOU for your sweet birthday blog wish! I'm so blessed to have such sweet friends and family to celebrate life with! And I'm glad that you like the painting--I can't wait to see H's room once it's all set up!!! And more than that, I can't wait to see little Harper herself!!!!!!

P.S. That picture of Alexee is funny because she's grown so much that it doesn't even look like her! A year goes by too fast! Hopefully I don't look any older!? :)

I am so sorry about the loss of your grandfather. I will be praying for peace and comfort for your family during this difficult time. I lost my grandfather back in December '04 and this poem really helped our family through our first Christmas without him,

"Merry Christmas From Heaven"

I still hear the songs, I still see the lights
I still feel the love, on cold wintry nights

I still share your hopes, and all of your cares
I'll even remind you, to please say your prayers

I just want to tell you, you still make me proud
You stand head and shoulders, above all the crowd

Keep trying each moment, to stay in His grace
I came here before you, to help set your place

You don't have to be perfect all of the time
He forgives you the slip, if you continue the climb

To my family and friends, please be thankful today
I'm still close beside you, in a new special way

I love you all dearly, now don't shed a tear
Cause I'm spending my Christmas with Jesus this year

Kelly, just wanted to let you know that I thought I saw a child size chair at Big Lots the other day that would be adorable in Harper's room. The fabric is similiar to your blog background. You should see if you can find one down there - I can just see her sitting in it (in a couple of years) reading her little books. :)
Hope your blog shower is a blast.

I know that I don't even know you, but I enjoy reading your blog as you await your new bundle of joy! I just wanted to say that I am so deeply sorry to hear about your grandfather. When I read that he was in the hospital on your other post, I immediately prayed for him. My grandfather was one of my favorite men and passed away due to complications from Leukemia 2 years ago. Our baby boy was born 5 months ago and oh how I wish my grandfather could see my precious son! But, sometimes I think that he can see him and is smiling down on us from heaven. I pray that you and your family find some comfort in this sad time.

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear about your grandpa. I pray that your trip to Dallas is very easy and that you have a blessed time with your relatives. How wonderful that your grandpa was able to surrender his life to Christ in his senior years. That does give me hope for some of my loved ones. Also, if you need to know where to get some comfort food while you're in the Big D, you know who to ask. Love to you!
