Work Weekend

I thought I would share a little on what we've been up to. Please feel free to keep adding your links to the nursery tour and looking at all the nurseries! I've enjoyed touring SO much! I'm so nosy - my favorite thing to do is tour homes! :-)

Thursday night was tailgate bunco and it was so fun! It was at my friend Ginger's house and she made lots of football themed food - so creative!!!
This is my friend Rachel and Laurie's baby Sarah Kate. SK had on her "future OBU student" t-shirt. We want our girls to go to OBU one day and be tri chis like their mommas!
Ginger and Kacy. Kacy's husband is a Mississippi State fan and he made her wear this jersey! ha! Little did we know at the time that both AR and State would be TRIUMPHANT this week!!!

Lindsey, Angie and Elizabeth - we had 21 girls at bunco! It was such a fun group!
Today has been a big WORK day at the Stamps house. I got up early this morning and went and got us donuts (we needed something to sustain us -ha!) and then I taped off the nursery and put down the plastic and got everything prepped for Scott to paint. I spent the rest of the morning and afternoon pulling weeds out of our landscape. I had really let that go. I was a little sad because my cooking idol - Paula Deen - was going to be at our local Wal-Mart today signing books and I SOOOOO wanted to go see her but I just had too much to get done today. Plus I knew it might be a mad house. (Love you and your butter Paula!)
Scott and I are shocked and in awe right now because our HOGS just beat AUBURN!!!!!! I can't believe it. I thought we had won all the games we were going to this year (all two of them) and then they pulled this out. We are seeing HUGE glimmers of hope for the razorbacks for the future - we LOVE our new coach!
This is the nursery right before Scott starting painting. We had to pull the day bed to the middle of the room and cover it with sheets - so it looks kind of crowded and crazy in there right now. Scott spent most of the day painting. He still has to go in and do a 2nd coat and then we'll wait until tomorrow or so to take the down the tape and everything. We probably won't do the crib until this week sometime. So I don't have much to show you yet.
But this is a little glimpse of the color of the room - it's darker in this picture than it is in real life. I'm VERY happy with the color - it is just the color I had imagined in my head and I think it's going to make the white furniture and pink bedding really stand out! I can't wait to get it all finished! (P.S. We left the ceiling that taupe color and I like the way it looks!)
I just hit my THIRD trimester this week! It is going by so fast. I had a small meltdown on Friday and was so worried that I hadn't been feeling Harper move. I called my mom and just bawled. I finally felt her or I would have gone to the doctor. She's been kicking up a storm today which I'm so thankful for. I think because I waited and prayed for this miracle for so long - I'm just so terrified something is going to go wrong. Sometimes I think this is all too good to be true. But I know that she is in God's hands. I keep telling myself this verse:
He
will have no fear of bad news; his heart is steadfast, trusting in the Lord. Psalm 112:7.
I was telling Laurie how worried I was and she said "just wait until she gets here - then the worrying really starts". We talked about how I was not going to have another peaceful day for the rest of my life because first I'll be worried about her breathing while she sleeps, then if she gets sick, then if she is eating enough, then when she goes to school......and on and on. We decided we would never let our girls out of our sight - never ride in cars when they are teenagers or go on dates or do anything. And how will I ever let her go to college? UGH! :-)

Kelly,
Congrats on the win today!
I love the color of the nursery. I am so anxious to see how it looks when you guys are done. I know how you feel too about the baby movement. When I was pregnant with the twins, I would go into the doctor numerous times to get checked out. It seems as I was further along, the more I would worry. They always told me to drink orange juice and use a flashlight on my belly to increase movement! Have a great rest of the weekend!

Congrats on beating Auburn, you know I love that!!! That's awesome. I know how terrifying it feels when that little baby is just sleeping away and you want to feel the kicking. I will pray for you for this, I know how you feel.

I love the color of the room and can not wait to see it all come together. You bring back so many memories for me.

Laurie is so right! The big time worrying begins when they get here. I have to constantly pray for peace in my heart.

I am in a mom's group at my church and one of the moms gave us a little card that I keep on my fridge.

Be anxious about nothing
Be prayerful about everything
Be thankful for all things.

I love seeing that reminder everyday.

The room looks great. Oh Kelly, I worried so much when I was pregnant with Emma Caroline too. There was one day I made myself so sick from worry and not feeling her that I went to the Dr. and they hooked me up and monitored her for about an hours. Everthing was fine, of coure...God was in control. However, a couple weeks later I got a big bill for that hour worth of monitoring because it did not fall under my OB plan or something crazy like that. The worry never stops, your BFF Laurie is so right...you just stary worrying about different things once they get here.

If there was ONE thing I recommend you get...that is the Angel Care Monitor. It is the BEST thing ever and will give you such peace of mind and allow you and Scott to sleep so much better at night. Have you seen them? Please feel free to ask me anything about them...there is no way I would bring a baby home without one. They are WONDERFUL and so worth the money, really not that expensive either.

Relax, enjoy your last trimester and Harper will be here before you know it. Believe it or not, you are going to miss her being inside of you once she is here. It is so hard to explain, but it is just a little sad when you don't have them all to yourself anymore, feeling their every little move!

Have a great weekend. I am going to post my nursery now ;o)!

I can't wait to start playing Bunco. Our first time is in Nov. It is going to be so fun.

I had no idea the Hogs won until I read this! Yeah! We have been SO busy today.

LOVE LOVE LOVE the color in the nursery. It is gorgeous against that white door, so I know your white crib will look precious.

Laurie is SOOOOO right. I worry every single day about something! It just comes with the mom territory!

That is so right about worrying...this is only the beginning of a lifetime of worry. And trust. And more worry, and more trust. :)

Love the nursery and can't wait to see the finished room!

OH MY GOSH! My friend who lives across town and is a U of A alumni called to make sure I had seen the Arkansas score. I am SO HAPPY!!!!! I love it every time they beat Auburn!

All of your "girl nights" is making Jodi and me think about finding us some gal pals! Ha!

I love the paint color! Harper's room is going to be so cute.

As for worrying. I'm in a league all by myself! (Ask your Dad. He's helped me raise both my children - one more than the other - with all the free counseling I've gotten!) When they were newborns, I put the bassinet RIGHT next to my bed and hung my arm over the edge to keep my hand on their sweet little baby bodies to FEEL them breathe the entire night. When they got too big for the bassinet, I'd use my monitor and turn it up as high as it would go so I could hear EVERY breath - heaven forbid they cough, or cry! Ouch!

And now, my babies are 21 and 19 and I still sleep with one eye open and my ears on alert. But, being a mom is absolutely the biggest blessing of my life!!!

Seeing the brown on the walls makes me so happy! Harper is going to be giving all her baby friends nursery-envy, I can feel it. :)

Glad ya'll had a good and productive weekend. And I will be saying some extra prayers for you, my friend. I can't imagine all the worrying that starts the moment someone finds out they're pregnant/becomes a parent.

But that verse is PERFECT, and I pray for God to keep filling you with peace so you can fully experience all the joy that Haper-girl is bringing!

Kelly,
You slept next to me when I brought you home from the hospital for months and then I finally moved you into your nursery. I didn't hardly ever sleep because babies make these strange little noises and when you didn't...I would put my hand on you to see if you were still breathing!!

We didn't have monitors back then and I would lie awake listening for you ...just in case...

Why do you think I look this haggard at my young age...HAR HAR!!

You will survive, I promise!! MOM

Kelli said...

I love the color!

I remember having all the same fears when Caroline was in my belly and now sometimes I wish I could put her back in there because I realized there was less to worry about! It's ok because her sweetness will help you over come the worry and God puts a calm to the fears!

Martha said...

The tailgate Bunco looks like it turned out so cute! I was laughing at the end of your post because you sound just like I did...and a lot of other moms at that stage! When my son was a newborn I had to listen to see if he was breathing at night and I just would sit and watch his little chest rise and fall as he breathed (I still do it now!!).

I guess you just have to think of it as taking one day at a time and when each new stage comes with one more thing you're letting your baby do, then God will give you the wisdom and freedom to let your child be who God made her to be!

The color looks great! It's going to be perfect!

Oh sweet Kelly, sometimes I make myself SICK worrying constantly and I just have to ask the Lord to deliver me from my fears. Laurie is right, they never outgrow it! You, guys are going to be just fine.

About a week before J was born, I panicked because I was not feeling her move. I called the doctor and they had me come in. I laid there all afternoon and they monitored her. They actually ended up blowing this air horn like thing close to my stomach and she immediately jolted and started kicking. They told me she was just sleeping deep but I was so worried. And I apolojize if I have told that story to you before.

We are still praying for you and Harper and I'm praying for God to comfort you and give you peace about everything. Thanks for sharing the verse, it was exactly what I needed to here today for myself, so thank you.

Sounds like the tailgate themed Bunco night was a hit!! And the room, it looks GREAT!! Love the color. Can't wait to see the finshed product. I think it will be precious.

As far as the constant worry you will feel from now til end of time....Laurie is SO right. I have TWO teenagers (one who will be leaving for college next Fall)UGGHHH!! What happened to the little girl that still played with Barbies!?!?!?)

As I am typing this, I am waiting for the 17 year old to get home from Haunted Houses.

So is there lots of worry, OH YEAH!! But there is even more joy...so it is ALL worth it!!

I cannot tell you how many times Hubs and I would place our hands on Baby D's chest to make sure he was still breathing! Laurie is right about the worry that comes with a new baby!!! The verse you shared is a word I needed to hear for myself...keep reciting it to yourself whenever worry or fear enters your mind.

The chocolate brown is absoutely fabulous! It's going to look great with everything else you've picked out for Harper's room!

The wall color is perfect!!!
Can you believe we beat Auburn? Oh my word!!!

I can totally understand why you would feel the way you do. A lot of times when the LORD gives me something I wasn't sure I'd get I'd start getting scared I'd lose it. Oh me of little faith!!! God is in control!! It's going to be a lifelong process for the both of us in the worry dept...and giving up control. You know how much we like it. :) I am praying for you and Harper and I can't wait to meet her!!!!!!!!

The nursery is looking so pretty! I love the wall color.
I understand completely about the worrying...unfortunately just about every day! And doing what I do, I see so many heartbreaking situations. So I tend to distract myself by over-worrying about the little things instead. Because THAT'S healthy. :)

I remember when I was pregnant with my son and I went to a craft fair all day. Later that night I realized I hadn't felt him kick all day. I panicked a called the doctor. We went to the hospital and got hooked up and found out all was well. They say to drink a coke if your not feeling any kicking and that will usually do the trick. I think when your really busy like weeding, shopping the baby seems to slow down. It's when you put your feet up and rest that they really start to kick.

Every night before bed and every morning before my husband went to work he would talk to my belly Logan would kick like mad. It got to be that Logan would know the time like an alarm clock. When he was born as soon as his daddy spoke to him he quit crying.

Your friend is right about worrying more after they are born. Logan had 105 degree temps. ALL THE TIME. He finally grew out of them but boy that was ROUGH.

Your entitled to worry but remember there's A LOT of prayer out there for you :o)

I can totally relate to the worrying, when you don't feel the baby move. Kinley would be so still for so long, I worried constantly. I would pray on the entire way to work "PLEASE Lord, let her move!!" Then she would do 1 little kick. She is a very calm baby out of the womb too. =)

so true on the last paragraph. the worrying never stops. calleigh was a real big mover until the end snd i got freaked out b/c everyone would ask if i felt her and it made me paranoid like i should be feeling her more than i was.
the room looks like it will be cute.
love your background. this is one of the patterns in calleigh's room, so it makes me smile when i see it.

Kelly,

I love the nursery wall color...looks perfect, you did a great job picking it out. Sorry you missed Paula...I love her as well. If I lived by you, I would have gotten a book signed for both of us. :-) I know about the worrying. What you are going through right now is sooo wonderful, that you are afraid to lose it...I will be praying for your peace and confidence. The enemy would love to steal all of your joy, but we won't let him!!!

Glad Arkansas won!

Hugs,
Melissa

The Garners said...

Oh, and about the worry...it's been constant for over 4 1/2 years now for me, and I'm sure there's no stopping any time soon. If we have a babysitter I sit in the movie theater and worry that the house might catch on fire or that I forgot to lock the front door back and a stranger will come in. When they get a cold, my mind automatically goes to worst-case-scenario about some horrible disease. I don't think I'll ever again relax near a body of water deeper than 2 inches, relax on an airplane, etc. The kids rode home with Mom and Dad after the picnic yesterday and I was worried about them not being in the car with me (but you know my Dad's driving...probably fear with good reason! ha!)...the list goes on and on and on. I know worry is wrong, but it's a constant battle not to let worry win.

GO HOGS!!! We were dancing around in the living room! It made my hubby's weekend!
I LOVE that verse from Psalms and it is one I quote daily. I know exactly what you mean...but I always remember "He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it." Jesus loves you more than you can imagine and he loves Harper that much, too. Laurie is right, it is a constant heart struggle once they get here...but SO worth it! It has taught me so much about the Lord...how he watches over us and cares for us, and also how he has to let us go sometimes for our own good!!!
Hope you have a great week- 3rd trimester?!?!? I can't believe it~!

Kelly - wanted to say Congrats on the win today!! You guys pulled it out!

Harper's room is looking great! I am so happy for you and I don't even know you. Enjoy your pregnancy even though it's so tempting to worry. I did it too with each of my 4 pregnancies and I have 4 beautiful children. Someone ahead of me mentioned how much you will worry after she is born compared to now and that is so true. Every sniffle will make you want to call the pediatrician. Sometimes the worry will make you batty. And yes, you will watch her sleep for hours! The Lord will never give you more than you can handle...is my favorite

Wait until she goes to school....that was a crusher for me...My 2nd child started all day kindergarten this year and yep-I cried the first day. I will probably cry for the next two children as well.
Parenting is so stressful...but your cup runneth over!

I guess I'm weird cuz I've never been one to worry after they are here. I worry during pregnancy... especially my first b/c I didn't know what was normal... but even after having gone thru it 3 times, I still worried more when pregnant than afterwards. Babies are pretty dern resilient. I'm a firm believer in "mother's intuition" and if I was really worried, there was reason to be, and even if all the signs might have suggested I should be worried, there were times that I wasn't... and I ended up being right.
But again, maybe I'm weird!

I don't personally blog but I love reading yours! I can't wait to see the nursery finished.

When I was pregnant with my son I didn't feel him move for the whole day. I was freaked. I went to the OB and they hooked me up to monitors for a couple of hours. He was fine, sleeping like a baby. They said I was to active and all my activity lulled him to sleep. My doctor "ordered" me to rest for a couple of hours every afternoon! HA! He must not know how much has to be done preparing for a baby!

Enjoy these last couple of months you truly will miss feeling her move and growing this amazing little girl.

Hi Kelly! I know what you mean about worrying about our kids. I like to use the verse "For I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able, to keep that which I've committed, to Him against that day" 2 Tim 1:12

This verse says it all. I also prayed Psalm 91:11&12 over my boys from birth and at age two years, my son could resite these two verses from hearing me say it over him everynight. And God has kept His angels charge over my sons.

Luv Ya!
