Secret Baby Closet

When we got home on Sunday - I found this awesome onesie in the mail. Staci had sent it to me! That was so extremely thoughtful Staci!!!! Scott thought it was the greatest thing ever. I can't wait to put the baby in it!!!

My father-in-law was here in town for a meeting he had so he stayed with us last night and we took him to dinner at his (and our) favorite restaurant - Doe's. They have the BEST steaks!
Afterward we dropped by to see Laurie and Steve and the girls. Emily really entertained us - she danced around the living room and tickled Scott and Bill. She took a big liking to Bill. She wanted to sit with him and when we left she said "Bye Bill". She was cracking me up. I forgot to take my camera in to take their picture.

Scott's dad brought us a package from Scott's mom and his aunt. His aunt sent us a blanket, the razorback diaper bag (and after I took this picture I realized she also sent us a razorback pacifier, razorback booties, and two razorback onesies). I think she knows what we love. Scott's mom sent us a picture frame, two GIRL outfits and a neat little mother/child figurine. I am LOVING getting these sweet baby gifts!!!
I thought I would show you my collection of razorback baby things! This picture gets me so excited!!!!!
And here is a small glimpse of a few things in my secret baby closet. As you can see - I am up a small creek if it turns out to be a boy. I will be thrilled - I just seem to only have things with "Harper" on them. ha! (Just wait until I show you the rest)

And here is my 15 week picture. Baby H is now the size of an apple. I can't wrap my mind around the fact that there is a living, breathing thing the size of an apple floating around inside of me. It is such a miracle. I also love that in all my belly pictures - Dawson is right next to me trying to get a bite of whatever I'm holding. ha!

I had an appointment today and we heard the heartbeat. It was so great to hear! It was around 150 so my doctor said now she was leaning towards boy. So who knows? We find out in 27 days (on August 19th) what it is and I am counting down the minutes! I just pray it's healthy.

Do your remember what your baby's heart beats were before you found out what they were? I'm curious to see if the heartbeat matches the sex for ya'll or not? I'm doing my best to guess pink or blue!!!!

You look RADIANT in that picture as always, my friend!

And oh my word, I am LOVING all the baby stuff!!! SO much precious in one post!!

I can't wait for the months to come once Baby H is here and starts modeling all these things for us. :) It is already a fact that he or she will be the most adorable thing in the WORLD, and he/she will have the wardrobe and accesories to match!!!

Love ya friend!

I'm so excited for you!
I'm in awe of God really....that after all that infertility, you took a break, AND GOT PREGANT all on your own. Isn't God great in His timing?

I had twins. A boy and a girl, so it would have been great if I could recall what their heartbeats were. All I know is my baby boy was ALWAYS moving inside my belly, and my baby girl was just quiet... THEY ARE STILL THAT WAY 10 years later. :)

Have fun and enjoy every moment.

I've had a boy and a girl and both heartbeats were in the 150's during the first few months. After we learned the gender the girl slowed down. I remember the boy being in the 150's until about month 8.
So for me the heartbeat before 18 weeks didn't help us.
I had dreams with my 2nd baby (girl) and I also felt like she was a girl. My first I had no clue, but wanted a boy badly. The week before i found out I started thinking about a girl because I didn't want to be disappointed if it was a girl.

Rebecca (Sam's wife) said...

I am having a girl and I think her heartbeats were always around that. But I can't remember? I know that is about what hers is now or was at 34 week appt.
All your stuff is so cute. Hope it is a girl since you have all that cute stuff!! Butknow you will be happy with a boy too!!

I absolutely love your baby stuff!Pink and brown stuff is my favorite! Both of my girls 1st pictures in the hospital were with teensy pink Razorback hats, onesies, and socks. Their heartbeats were both always fast. Keira's was lower (150s) at the beginning, but Kinley's was always fast. I vote that it is Harper! =)

You look so cute!

Cortney's heartbeat - 135 and Casey's was 150 - both girls. You have so many adorable things and just look at those cute Razorback items! WOW!

You are glowing! Awesome. Can you imagine what all you will have by the time the baby arrives??? Since my son is 30 yrs. old, I can't remember his heartbeat rate. I work at Wake Forest University - I'll will have to send you something from here (I can just imagine what you are thinking). Take care and keep the updates coming.

PS Love your blog and your love for the Lord.

OH MY WORD! I LOVE all of that stuff... Emma Kate has a few things that match Harper's! :) With Drew I was CERTAIN he was a boy... I even painted the room and bought the bedding before we found out! With Emma Kate... I had NO clue!

Em K's heartrate was always like in the upper 160's. Drew's was always in the 150's. Have you heard of Intelligender (www.intelligender.com)? I did it with Em K. Supposedly the results for GIRL are much more accurate than the boy results. It was right with Emma Kate. It was something fun to do... And you can do it at 10 weeks of pregnancy. Just something fun to try. I went shopping afterwards; but kept all my receipts until I found out "for sure" at my u/s... at 17 weeks!

Both my babies had really fast heartbeats and they turned out to be girls. My doctor didn't actually believe in that theory though...it did work out for me! I think they were in the 160's or so! Who knows...having a 2 year old and 3 month old makes my mind forget the little things! LOVE the name Harper and all your precious stuff!

My hubby is from Arkansas and so we have all that fun AR stuff too...burp cloths, pacis, etc...you will love using it!

Kelly you look wonderful and I love all of the visuals. I'm hoping you get to have a 3d (I think that's what it's called) ultrasound. We want to see Baby Harper/Hudson. Secretly, I'm hoping you get in there and 2 Sweet Babies pop up on the screen. wink wink

I stumbled across this blog today would you please ask everyone to pray for the sweet lady and her Husband. I don't know them but I know they need our prayers.

Not that I know anything about it- but both of my girls heartbeats were different, so I don't really think you can go with that. Who knows??!

All of that stuff is so cute!! I am especially partial to the Razorback stuff! Tayson's heartbeat was around 158 bpm and stayed right around there!

I can't wait to hear what it is!!

Kendall was steadily 140 every time.

We also didn't find out boy/girl at our ultrasound, so her gender was a surprise to us. I had always heard that fast heart rates were girls, and slower heart rates were boys, but my doctor swears differently! Funny that hers was so in the middle...we couldn't have figured out her sex if we tried...although I really thought "boy" right up until about a month before I delivered!

I am loving all your Razorback stuff! That looks about like our collection! Kendall has the Hog pacifiers and we use those at church so everyone will always know who they belong to! (Since we are the only Hog fans from miles around!!) So funny...our LSU fan friend found one that we dropped and held it hostage for a few weeks! :) Gotta love the SEC!!!

At our last doctor's appointment for 12 weeks, the heart beat was 157 bpm...which makes me think baby "Polka" is a girl, but when we first found out we were pregnant I thought it was a boy...so we'll just have to wait and see. Our next appointment is next Tuesday when I'll be 16 weeks and 4 days, but we're gonna try to keep it a surprise and not find out!! Let's hope I can hold out for it! :)

So precious! I love all of your cute baby things! Here is a funny story for you! My brother and his wife thought they were having a boy - their doctor's claim to fame was that he had NEVER missed the sex of a baby! Well, they had the most beautiful baby boy nursery and everything! ALL blue, ALL monogrammed! And on the day of delivery we were all surprised to find that "Trey" was actually baby girl Bentlee!!!! Like you said, as long as they are healthy! :-)

My little BOY's heartbeat was fast. But, I see you with a girl. I know you will be thrilled and thankful for a healthy baby no matter the sex though. Congratulations on 15 weeks.

My first 3 were in the 140's and they were boys. I knew instantly that baby number 4 was a girl when that rate was always in the 150's - I was right!!! I love both names - I have a Hudson Wyatt!! And Harper is such a sweet name. {Funny, Hudson's girl name was Hadley - I too, love the H thing!}

Our little Alexandra's heartbeat was steadily in the 160's in the beginning, so my doctor swore it was a girl. She also said it was a girl because, "little girls make mommies more sick." I was SOOOO sick, and at 36 weeks pregnant, I still take Zofran everyday to keep the nausea and vomiting in check. Guess my doctor was right since we're having a girl. :) I agree with everyone -- you look FANTASTIC! And, I will rejoice with you whether it's Harper or Hudson. :)

My baby's heartbeat was always high so everyone thought girl, but they were wrong! We didn't find out the sex beforehand so it was a big surprise. My sister's babies always had high heartbeats too and she had one of each. I don't think you can really tell by the heartbeat.

Both my babies had heart rates around 170, so everybody was sure they were girls, but as I neared the final stretch, I carried them both REALLY low, so then everyone was convinced they were boys each time. We ended up with 2 beautiful girls!

Anonymous said...

Our baby's heartbeat was around 150 the first time. Then at my 16 week it was 164 and my doctor was just sure I was having a girl. Well at my 20 week ultrasound, we saw our little boy!! Now his heartbeat is always in the
mid 140s. I just had a boy feeling the whole time so I wasn't suprised to find that out! Either way, I know you will be so blessed!!

Yay! You are so cute. One of my great friends Kristin just posted her prego picture with an apple. She thought it was interesting that they are always compared to fruits. Haha.

And I don't know if the myths are true, however, my daughters heartbeat was higher, usually around 150-160 and my boy's was always between 120-130. I don't know! My mom has 4 girls. I'm the oldest. And she said we were all high...the lowest was about 148. I love the name Harper, though! Adorable!

Kelly, you look so cute in your pictures. You are going to be so happy down the line that you took these pictures showing the size of the baby. I didn't take hardly any pictures of me pregnant with Ella Grace, and it makes me sad now. There was just NO time with Evan and Derek being deployed. I don't think Evan would have been the best photographer. Ha! I am so glad you are letting us get a glimpse of your secret baby closet. All of the Harper stuff is absolutely adorable, as is the Razorback stuff. I think Evan's heart rate was around 147. My doctor said it didn't mean anything, but I kind of think there may be some truth to it. I think Ella Grace was higher than that. I think like in the 160's but I could be wrong. I think one doctor told me you can't go by heart rate because the baby may be more active or less at the point you are listening to it. I can't wait until you find out. It's fun to dream about it either way, isn't it???

Congratulations on your miracle. I have been reading your blog for a few months now and was so excited to hear that you are expecting. I have had a boy and a girl. the girl heartbeat was always in the 150s and the boys was lower than that. all though our doctor always joked that you can't go by that. check out the chinese gender calendar. it is pretty cool too.

Rachel said...

That will be one well dressed little piggie!

My girl was low - 130's, and my son was high - 150's. However, my first OB was convinced that my girl was a boy - so I really don't know if the heart rate means anything:) The most consistant thing I have seen with my girlfriends to determine gender, without the medical equipment, is the "Where are you gaining your weight?" Hips, butt and thighs = girl; elsewhere = boy. However, I'm sure there are lots of exceptions to that one as well.

Enjoy these next few weeks of guessing!

Fran said...

I have 3 boys...the 1st two boys were in the high 140's to 150. And Dylan was higher than that.

Go figure. You'll be so shocked and overwhelmed with joy as you look at that ultrasound screen, it won't matter one bit what that tech says....

I'm praying for you sista!! Are you going to have a blogosphere shower or something?? I'm so sending you something when you find out! :)

We asked our RE in Tulsa if he believed that the heartrate has any relation to the sex of the baby. He said that is the biggest wives tale of all...it all depends on how active the baby is!! It is always fun to try to guess the sex though! I am dying to know what we are having!! I know you are too...looks like we may find out about the same time!!! counting down the days....

Anonymous said...

I must have the oddball ob/gyn. When I was pregnant 3 years ago he refused to tell me the baby's heartrate. He said it didn't matter and there was no way you could determine the sex from that. I felt positive that I was having a girl. We went in for the big gender ultrasound at 20 weeks and the cord was between the baby's legs as well as the baby had its legs crossed and pulled up underneath so they couldn't tell the gender!! To say I was frustrated was an understatement. So we went and paid for a 3d ultrasound because I felt so strongly it was a girl that I was ready to go out and start buying things. Thank goodness we did a second ultrasound because low and behold, it was a boy! I was so surprised. I will say that the chinese gender chart predicted it correctly, I also only gained weight in my belly and I had little to no morning sickness. I know you're anxious to find out!

I love all the baby items! Wherever did you find all those monogrammed items?? I love them all!

I don't recall the heartbeats to be honest. I do remember that with the boys I was not sick and with Shelby I was sick almost every single day.

A funny story for my daughter was that we were at the mall one afternoon and I had to go to the restroom and the closest one was in JCPenny salon. When I walked in one of the stylist said oh how wonderful you are carrying a baby girl. I said I didn't know b/c I hadn't gone for the sonogram yet. She said you have a pink aura around you when you walk. Three weeks later, I had to go to a specialist for the sonogram (they wanted to do a 3D one to see the heart chambers) and the doctor asked if I wanted to know and I laughed and said yes. Then he said wow, look it's a little girl! I was like are you sure?? He said that he's been right over 99% of the time and he's sure and pointed to the 'non- turtle'.

I still think of that woman who said I had a pink aura.

I've been reading your blog for a while, but this is my first comment. First of all, you are such a darling little pregnant mama! And I LOVE a gal who monograms by faith! (I stocked up on girl clothes as soon as I found out I was pregnant, but wasn't brave enough to monogram/personalize!)

My daughter's heartbeat was high (160s I think). I always had a feeling I was having a girl even though everyone around me guessed a boy. :)

God bless you and that precious baby!

You look absolutely beautiful! What a cute mommy you are! And even as cute as you look, I am sure you are going to BE an even better mommy! I am so, so, so excited for y'all!

Anyway, all of those little "tests" pointed to a girl for me (the high heart rate, the eating/craving citrus & fruit ALL. THE. TIME. -- supposedly spicy foods indicate boy, citrus/fruits for girl-- and I had dreams about baby boys -- supposedly, you dream opposite) but I KNEW I was carrying a son. I even carried really low and EVERYBODY, even random strangers, would come up and say, that's a boy! I was like...yup, I think so too! Then, lo and behold, here came little Miss Amelia! I should have listened to all those little "tests!" haha! Oh and a lady I know who hasn't been wrong in like THIRTY years of guessing sexes, she said I was having a girl. (She looks at you from behind...something about the way you are shaped from the back end...haha!) So, for the first four days of Amelia's life, she wore yellow and...blue! Then, I FINALLY got to babyGap and some local boutiques and bought that child of mine some pink!!

This is one of life's TRUE surprises! Enjoy it!! :o)

I love keeping up with your blog! I am due August 9th and reading your entries takes me back to when I was first pregnant. It took us a while to get pregnant so when I finally happened, I, like you, have relished every moment and milestone. You will have to email me at some point so I can give you some pointers on how my husband and I handled a lot of the little decisions that turned out to be BIG later on!

Now, back to heartbeat: When we first heard the heartbeat I laughed so hard. I got so tickled that there was a human in me with a beating heart and it was so fast it made me laugh with joy! It was in the upper 170's so I was just sure it was a girl. Then we had the ultrasound weeks later that confirmed it was a boy (at least we think it is , we will see in a couple of weeks!). After that appointment the heartbeat consistently stayed in teh upper 150's and in the last four months has stayed in the upper 140's. So I guess you just never know! Good luck! I know you are so excited...and I am too!

Hi! I just came across your blog and you are so cute! I just had my second baby two weeks ago today and his heartbeat always fluctuated. Dr. said that it is because when the baby is sleeping they have a lower heart rate and when active a higher heart rate, seemed to make sense to me, but it is fun trying to figure it out. Oh, and all the chinese gender predictors said we were having a girl and we had a boy! This time around I said it was going to be a boy because I just loved my girl name I had picked out, and with our first baby I loved my boy name better and we had a girl. Sorry, I just realized I left you a very long message and probably confused you or set disappointment in your mind for that I am sorry! I will be checking on you, good luck with everything!

Hi-I am new to your blog, but I saw on MMM's page that you are due in Jan and I am gue in Feb, so I thought it would be fun to check out your page and see what I am in for in the near future! I love this brown dress! where did you find it?? So cute. I also love that you hold the apple and avocado or whatever produce item as a size reference for your baby. Such a cute idea. I may have to copy you for my memory book I hope to start soon.

Hey Kelly....Where can you get all the monogrammed stuff like that? Is there a certain place you get that stuff?

Thanks!
