Rain, Rain Go Away

It seems like we are having the rainiest summer ever. I know we should be thankful for rain and I am and I love that everything is still green and we don't have to worry about drought but it's July - it shouldn't rain this much. I especially hate storms. I don't sleep a wink if it storms. I just sit up in the living room. Scott always gets up and comes in to check on me and gives me a pitiful face because he knows I can't rest if it's storming.
But as much as I hate storms - something I love so much is after a rough night when I sat up and didn't sleep and it was hailing and blowing and I was so scared...............the next morning I wake up and the sun is shining and birds are chirping and that horrible night seems like a long time ago and I wonder why I was ever so scared.
Isn't life like that? We go through storms where we think there is no hope and no light ahead and then God answers our prayers and we look back and wonder why we have worried or feared or were sad.
There is an old Christian song from the 80's/90's by Ray Boltz that I have always loved called "Seasons Change". I try to think about it a lot when I'm facing tough times. I try to remember that after every cold, dark winter - there is always a beautiful spring. And after long, hot summer - there is always a gorgeous fall just around the corner. No matter what you are going through - it will not stay that way. God will bring about change.

Seasons change
Barren fields will bloom again
Seasons change
Gentle rains will fall
Seasons change
Better days will come and then
You will find the blessing
Is worth the pain
So just believe
And let the seasons change
Hearts grown cold
May be warmed by the summer sun
Dreams you hold
May be closer than you know
Let the Seasons Change

P.S. My mom wanted me to thank everyone who left her a birthday message yesterday! Ya'll really made her 60th birthday special! Thank you!!!!

Thanks for sharing that song, I'll have to remember that next time I'm feeling that way.

As for storms, I majored in Television Broadcasting/Meteorology, so I guess that makes me a LOVER of storms. I love it when it gets loud and hard and tornado-y.

I hope you're feeling better this week!!!

Oh, Kelly, that is so true. I would not have any hope at all if I didn't remember that I won't always be in the same place, feeling the same way. Thank you for sharing this! I love you, friend!!

Beautiful post Kelly. I am the same way about storms, unless my hubby is home. If he is here, I rest easy knowing he will wake me up if something happens. If he is gone, then I know I am the only one here that can protect my children while they are soundly sleeping. But, you're right. When morning comes, it seems like it has been an eternity since the storm. I loved your analogy.

Thanks for this post and for the song lyrics - it is a great reminder to me today. I'm not familiar with the song, but am going to go hunt for it on the web so I can hear the lyrics with the music. I love God's promise to us that things will change.

This was such an encouraging post to my heart. I am definitely in a season of more cold than sun, and it was such a good reminder that when this season passes (and I know it will!) that it will feel far removed and redeemed by His faithfulness. Sometimes the winters feel *really* long, so I am clinging to the memory of the spring breezes and fresh air. Thanks for sharing what God brought to your heart today!

Kelly, your post is EXACTLY what I needed today! I know someday, when I am holding our child in my arms, I will look back and wonder why I was scared of this infertility "storm." Thanks for sharing your wisdom.

Also, I thought about you yesterday when I sat down to play the piano and turned to a page in my favorite book of hymns and it was 'Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus.

Truer words have never been spoken, my friend. This is an awesome post, not to mention SO encouraging to me--and I know anyone else who has been/is/or will be (aka EVERYONE) in a scary spot. :) You're the best. Love you girl!

Kelly, I know this is going to sound weird but I have spent the better part of my day reading a blog titled Bring the Rain. I have cried until I am emotionally wore out, but I am loving Jesus so much more now that I ever have. When I decided I needed to take a break from the crying, I click over to your blog and your post today said Rain Rain Go Away. I just laughed (not in a bad way, it's just so Jesus). LOL

Its storming here as I type this. We welcome it though, as it has been very dry here in the South. Its rained for a couple days now, which is unusual. We are so thankful. I hope you have a sunny day tomorrow!!

You sent the rain our way, I believe! I'm scared to death of storms, too! Can hardly sleep... I still want to gather my boys (Kale's a bit for this now... Ty's in the other room!) and put them in the bath tub or something. You'll soon have that momma chick reaction to go along with your own fear.

Love Ray Boltz. I still get out his CDs and just worship with him!

I'm not a huge fan of storms either; but I did love this cooler day today!
