Hot Time Summer in the City

We have had a fairly busy weekend but it's been a lot of fun. It's just SOOOOOOOOO hot right now. It is definitely July in the south. I just can't hardly stand to be outside.

We started off our Saturday morning by taking engagement pictures for this lovely couple! My friend Hillary and Josh are getting married in less than 8 weeks and Scott took pictures for them this morning. It was fun but it was so hot - even at 8 in the morning.
After we did pictures - we went and ate breakfast with them at where else but Mimi's! They just have the best breakfast ever! (I just realized that I haven't taken any food pictures in a while. Probably because food isn't really my friend these days but a girl still has to eat.)

Saturday afternoon - we had several projects to get done. I worked on pulling weeds in our landscaping and nearly had a heatstroke. (Don't worry - I wasn't working hard - it was just so hot!) (Have I mentioned it's hot?)
We got a little treat Saturday night because Laurie's parents are in town and they kept the girls so we could go on a double date with Laurie and Steve. We went to Shogun and it was so yum!

This was before we stuffed ourselves silly.
Afterwards we hit up Cold Stone Creamery.
Then we went back to Laurie's house to visit with her parents and see the girls. They are always entertaining. Emily put on a show for us.
And I got to hold sweet Sarah Kate.
Today after church - Scott and Steve decided they really needed fried chicken so they picked up KFC and we went back over to Laurie and Steve's house and ate with them. The guys played a short game of lawn darts before they decided it was WAY too hot for this. (this is the only picture I took at lunch).
Scott and I had to make a run to Sam's after lunch and then we decided the one thing that could really fight the heat is a good old snow cone.
Scott got a Red Bull Brain Freeze (YUCK) and I had a strawberry margarita snow cone.

We are inside and resting in the air conditioning now. How was your weekend? What are you doing to fight the heat????

We had to make a run to Sam's this afternoon, too! I sure hope you guys didn't spend as much money as we did! Yikes!!

Hi Kelly! I enjoy reading your blog, which I found through my friend Mary Kate's blog (Our Journey). I enjoy reading about the beginning of others' pregnancies as I'm nearing the end of mine.

Speaking of heat, it's definitely starting to take it's toll on a 9-month preggo girl! I'm due in 2 weeks, and praying constantly that labor will kick in momentarily! Lots of sofa time, cold water and lemonade, and Sonic Oreo Blasts after dinner.

Come check out our corner of the blog-world some time! :-)

Lots of air conditioning, ice cream, and dipping in the pool! It's blazing hot (and extremely humid) here, too!

You guys are so cute. I am telling you we would be close friends if we lived closed to one another. I see a lot of me and my husband in you two.
Keep cool...the Florida weather is STEAMING :)

So, I have tried to post several times to Congratulate you and say other things but EVERY time my computer goes crazy and loses my comment and I lose my patience! :) Hopefully this comment will get through! :)

I am so happy for you. You are in for a great blessing with your new little one. I hope that the "baby" sickness goes away soon. I totally know the feeling...not fun! You are in my prayers.

Those snowcones look Soooo good...there is a little snowcone shack in Meridian, MS that puts heavy cream and sweetened condensed milk on the snow cones...oh my gosh...I am sure we will eat those in heaven...mmmmmm. Wish I could get one now!!! :)

Heat is right! It's steamin' in Tennessee too! I'm just trying to stay inside as much as possible! I can't believe you took on pulling weeds in the heat - no yard work for this one! :-)

You take it easy in the heat.

Girl, I am with you about the heat. I'm in Oklahoma and it has been triple digits for two weeks and no end in sight! Just stay inside until October!

I want to jump through my computer screen and steal your sno cone! I wonder if our sno cone stand is still open at this hour? Not sure if I can make myself drive over to see! Sounds like a great weekend though!

Oh, and P.S. it was 104 degrees today, and the building our church meets in had NO AIR CONDITIONING due to some remodeling. Terrible!

We are definitely in the dog days of summer! Dallas was SO hot! You mentioned that you didn't take any food pictures this weekend...I thought about you as I was taking a picture of our food Saturday night (and totally embarrassing Eric in the process! Ha!). You look so pretty! I'm so excited for you and Scott! Pregnancy suits you! Do you want me to remind you of that when you are feeling nauseous?!? :) Hopefully that will pass VERY soon and you will feel great for the rest of the time! Hugs!

You look so cute in all the pictures! I wish I could have joined you guys for a snow cone--that does look like a great thing to have on a 100 degree day!

I hope you feel better soon! I think I was right at 16 weeks when my sickness all passed. The only benefit was that it kept my weight down. Unfortunately, I'm not having any problem eting now! )

I made your spinach dip for a BBQ yesterday. It was a huge hit! Thank you so much for sharing the recipe :)

Girl...HOT is the word on everyone's mind in the south! This is exactly why I LOVE FALL ;)!

I am so glad that you had a wonderful weekend with friends and family ;)! You always look absolutely amazing!

I'm glad you had a great weekend! We went to PF Chang's on Sat night, then to the lake yesterday. HOT does not even begin to describe how it felt out on the lake in Chattanooga, TN! Fall cannot come fast enough for me!

Sounds like my kind of weekend...friends and food! I could do without all this heat, too. We ate at Mimi's on Friday and it was delish. I thought about you when we got there because the first time I ever went to Mimi's was with you and Kandi! That's so great that Scott can take pictures for Hillary and Josh! I LOVE Japanese steakhouses. YUM! You look cute!

You could not look any more beautiful in these pics, my friend!!! And that sno cone could not look more delicious. :)

I wish I knew how to fight the heat. I am keeping the boys all week and they seem unphased by the fiery temps which is very unfortunate (for their babysitter). I think I see some pool visits in our immediate future. :)

It is miserably hot out here in west Texas. I can hardly stand to be outside, either. I just got home from the grocery store and loading them into my car was miserable. Jim is headed to Canada this week and I am so jealous. I looked at the weather and the days are like LO 43 HIGH 73. Ah, to die for right now. I'm ready for fall weather!

It's hot up here too, girlfriend! I am a huge fan of staying inside in the AC! It looks like you had a great weekend. All that food is making me hungry. I, too, love Japanese steakhouses. We have several, and we are good customers at all of them ;)

We have been swimming nearly everyday to beat the heat in NWA. My boys would live outside if I let them so, going to the pool makes mom and boys happy. Congratulations on your little blessing.
