Kauai Day Two

Today we spent the day going around the entire island - so expect a bunch of scenery pics in this post - and because you know me well - there are a lot of food shots also. (No telling what I weigh by now - it's been nice to know you Weight Watchers!) (ha!)

We were up by 5 a.m. again this morning. Why is it that at home when the alarm goes off - I just want to sleep until 11 but on vacation I am wide awake at 5???? UGH! So we got up early and had a nice breakfast.
And then we were off for a helicopter ride!!! Scott has wanted to do this for years so I finally gave in since this might be our last chance for a long while. I hate flying so I was scared to death.
Here we are looking happy in the helicopter...................... before we both got TERRIBLE motion sickness. I had to hold a barf bag the whole time and spent half the time with my eyes shut, doing lamaze breathing (or what I think Lamaze breathing is like) and trying as hard as I could not to throw up. I was miserable.
I didn't know until we landed that Scott was as sick as I was. It was horrible. But the views (that I saw) were really beautiful. A lot of the island is impossible to see unless you go by Helicopter. We saw where they filmed Jurassic Park and a few other movies. Our pilot said he just finished flying Ben Stiller every day for 3 months while he filmed a movie in Kauai.
After we felt better .........we ate at a favorite from last trip - Brick Oven Pizza - SO YUM!!!!!!

The gorgeous coast of Kauai
One of the north shore beaches that we spend time at
After lunch - we headed to Waimea. There is a huge mountain you can drive up and at the top it overlooks a canyon that is like a small grand canyon. It's amazing. The last time we went - it was so cold and rainy at the top. And one of the viewing spots was just a huge white fog. But today it was sunny and pretty warm so we got to see a lot more. I wish you could all see just how beautiful it is.
It took us two hours to go up the mountain and back down so when we got down - we needed a treat. We stopped for ice cream. My hair is a mess in this picture because I had spent 2 hours in a jeep with the top off. So much for good hair! ha!
Tonight we ate at Cafe Hanalei in Princeville. Scott had swordfish.
I had steak and shrimp. It was delicious!
We took this picture of the sunset right before dinner
Aren't our desserts pretty? I had tahitian vanilla brulee and Scott had triple chocolate mousse.
Here we are - loving every minute of it!

Happy Mother's to everyone! Happy Mother's day especially to my mom and to Scott's mom. You are both so encouraging and loving to us. We are thankful to have such wonderful moms.
A Very special Happy Mother's Day tomorrow to so many of my friends and blog friends who are celebrating their very first mother's day - either with a brand new baby or a pregnant belly! I hope this first Mother's Day is wonderful!!!
And for each of you who are waiting to be moms - I will be spending a lot of time tomorrow lifting you up in prayer and I have no doubt that you will be celebrating Mother's Day soon!

That is the cutest blue dress at dinner--love it! Your hair looks so cute--are you liking it? Gorgeous scenery pictures. We did the helicopter ride our first trip there...I was terrified, but it was such a beautiful ride that I'm glad I did it (once...I don't think I'll ever do it again!).

Hi Kelly!
I am new to your blog and I love it! I think you have such a wonderful faith. I will be lifting you and your husband up in my prayers. I know what it is like to wait for a child. It took us close to a year to conceive. It was so hard because I wanted a baby so badly. I know the longing and so I will keep y'all in our prayers!
I love looking at your vacation pictures. We are getting ready to go to Destin, Fl and so looking at your pics is getting me excited about our trip. I have even hopped over to Forever 21 to see about getting a dress or two! Okay, now that I have written a novel I'll let you go so you can enjoy your trip.
Take care and God Bless!
Suzanne

I just found your blog, and I'm having so much fun reading! In one of your newer posts, I read that you went to Kauai. That's where my husband and I spent our honeymoon last year in May for 12 days, just a few weeks after yall were there! And get this...we stayed right across the street from the Princeville Resort! We were in Pu'u Poa, the condos that overlook Hideaways Beach. Kris and I always walked across the street to spend the day at the resort's beach. It was our favorite. We're saving to go back next year and we're thinking about renting a house on Anini Beach.

AND NO LIE, we ran into Pierce Brosnan too! And WE HEARD HIS VOICE before we saw him, as well! Girl, we're destined to be friends.
