The Last of the Questions

So today I had an interesting lunch. I met two sweet friends, Jenna and Rachel, for lunch at Granite City Grill at our mall and when we got there the power was out. We decided to stay but the only thing we could get was salad and soup (which was really good). We ate in the dark and we were there by ourselves. It was a really fun lunch AND we got it for free! Whoo hooo!!!!

Okay, this is the last of the questions. If I missed yours for some reason - I'm so sorry. I tried to get them all but there were a lot so I could have skipped over a few.

I want to tell you about a couple of exciting things I have coming up. First of all .......this weekend I get to meet this girl!

This is Julie and she is precious. She has been through a lot in the last year and still has the sweetest outlook. She and her husband and in-laws happen to be coming to my town for a family deal so we are going to meet up for brunch on Saturday (husbands included!) This will be the 4th blog friend I've met. I wish I could meet you all!!!!

Also - next week I will be having a week long TV, internet, and blog fast. I will start Monday morning through the next Monday. I just need to take all that time I spend on those things and focus on the two most important things - Scott and God. Scott's love language is Quality Time and I'm not good at giving that. And right now I just feel like part of why I'm in a funk is that I haven't spent the time with God that I need to. I need to talk to him and read His word and LISTEN to Him. I need to draw nearer to Him. I need to make Him my main priority.

So I will miss all of you so much but hopefully I'll have SUCH a great week and a lot to share when I come back from blog break!!!!

1. Lisa used to live in the same town as me in high school. My brother was her escort in high school one year and her brother was in my class. Her father is a pastor like mine is. She wanted to know my thoughts on being a P.K. (preacher's kid).

Being in a minister's family can be difficult but also a blessing. It is a privilege to serve God but you live in a fishbowl and there are a lot of expectations on you. People can place their pastors on a pedastal and it's important to remember that they are just people like everyone else. It has made me very sensitive to want to encourage our church staff and wives because it can be a lonely place to be.

2. Sandra went to college with me and she and her family now live in China. She has the MOST interesting blog ever. She wanted to know my favorite Cold Stone Creamery Ice Cream.
First of all - I would like to proudly say that a CSC opened in our town MONTHS ago and I have yet to go. I've tried not to give into tempation. However - Scott and I have already discussed that there is one in Kauai and we will be eating it up!!! My favorite is "Cookie Doughn't you want some". OH - my ........so good!

3. Heather is a college friend of my friend Jamie. She is so sweet and her and her family recently moved back home to Texas.

She wanted to know if I ever go on girl trips and what would I like to do on those girl trips?
I love girls trips! I used to do them all the time before I married (one of the advantages of being single). But I haven't been on one since May 2004 when I went to NYC with 3 of my best friends (pictured above). I did have a quick weekend trip with 3 friends to a Beth Moore Conference and that was a blast. I need to get away with girls more often. It's good for the soul!!!

Even though I will miss reading your blog (SO MUCH), I admire you for your efforts of spending some QT with Scott & the Lord!!!!

Galz Trips are a must! Meag, La, and I had our first one last year and we are booking our next one on Tuesday. We are going to a spa in North Carolina!

I love that you are going to meet Julie! Can't wait to see a pic of you two together. :)
I also love the idea of the tv/internet/blog break. I can't wait to hear your thoughts when you get back. :) I too am longing for more time with God to read, listen, think. Something more then just my quiet time in the am. Thanks for this inspiration to use my time more wisely. I do have the time during the day to spend with God, but I just waste it. I admire you for wanting to spend more time with your hubby as well. I need to do the same thing. I get on this computer every night after the kids are in bed when I could be spending quality time with my husband. You are the best, thank you!!

Oh how I wish I looked like I did in that Tavern On the Green Picture...except I'd keep the hair color I have now. I was skinny though and tan...the good ole days!

I'll miss you, but I'm inspired by you. Sometimes I feel that SAME way. I love that pic of you and your girls. So fun!

I took a mini-fast when we went to Tennessee and it was great. I am opting more 'away time' each and every day myself.

We are planning a girlz weekend too. I can't wait.

Oh, I will miss you dearly, my friend! But I am so glad for you to have some time to re-group with the two most important men in your life!

I hope you have a great week next week. I will miss checking your blog, though and will be happy when you come back! I love getting away with my girlfriends. I just got to go to Women of Faith last month, and this summer we're going to see Beth Moore. I'm so excited!!

I think fasts are a good idea sometimes. I haven't been blogging very long & there are so many cool things about it...especially meeting new friends. But it is TIME CONSUMING!! It takes me a long time to check everyone's blog that I love to keep up with, plus doing one of my own. I think you're so smart to prioritize God and your husband!! I know God will bless that! :)

Hey Sweet Girl: I think it's wonderful that you want to spend time with your husband and more time with God. What a compliment to Scott that you WANT to spend time with him...thank you for reminding me how we should treat our husbands who are soooo good to us.
For someone so young (compared to me!) you have a real handle on life and always inspire and teach me something everytime I "visit" your blog.

XOXO - Judy

I've had to take a little bloggy break myself. The weather is so nice and I can't stand being inside holding the laptop when I could be soaking up some sun. Enjoy your break! What a novel idea!
Have fun with Julie. Sure wish I could brunch with y'all!

Kelly,

Hello again! It's been awhile since I've left a comment on your blog, but I've been praying for you and thinking about you this week. I'm sorry that you've had a sad week...those happen sometimes don't they? I LOVED your post yesterday because I love that you've thought of every detail for your baby's nursery someday!! ME TOO!! Kelly, God will give you a baby in His way and in His time...those dreams and plans aren't in vain. We have to believe that He is sovereign and His plan is greater than ours. I LOVE you and that makes me laugh, because we've never met!! I am so happy to hear you are taking a blog vacation and spending time with your two most important people, the Lord and Scott. I will pray for a rich week with the Lord and with your man. Soak in the promises of God and let them encourage your heart. Can I recommend a great devo book for you to get? We were just given it while on vacation and we are both totally enjoying it. It's been such an uplifting thing for me because it's written from God's point of view. It's a compilation of God's promises into a daily format...I love it. It's called "Jesus Calling" by Sarah Young. The tagline is "Enjoying Peace in His Presence"...sounds like it was written for us huh? Enjoy the rest of your week and your weekend Kelly!

That's our favorite CSC flavor, too! We like when we get a really nice employee who throws in an extra cookie! :)

Goodness, I'm going to have Kelly's Korner withdrawals next week. We'll miss you...look forward to hearing from you the following week. I know you're probably tired of answering questions, but one more came to mind after reading this: What is your love language? (You might have posted this before and I've just forgotten?) When I first read the book, I determined mine was Quality Time. Now I think that Acts of Service is a really really close second. I guess that's because the kids' needs require so much of my time and attention that any time someone helps me with things--big or small--it really means a lot.

Have a great weekend!

It has been so much fun getting to know you better. I just love reading your blog! You seem like a lot of fun. How fun that you get to meet Julie. I read her blog, too. That is so cool that you have made an effort to meet blog friends. I would love to meet you and a bunch of others!

And I'll miss reading your blogs next week, but God and hubby are much more important that this blogging stuff (even though it is a lot of fun!) :) God bless you sweet friend.

I too have been thinking about taking a "fast" from some things. You've really encouraged me & inspired me. Hummm...I've never had cookie dough at Cold Stone, but since you & Jamie highly recommend it, I'll put that on my list of things to do in America!

A big hearty AMEN on the answer to my question.

I can't wait to hear about your brunch with Julie! And then, after your fast, to hear what all the Lord has shown you during your time of focusing solely on Him and Scott. I pray that it is a very fruitful time and filled with His blessings! Praying for you!
P.S. Love your hair in the NYC pic!
