Fashion Fiesta! OLE!

medium button

So 3 things I love : Big Mama, Fashion, and Fiestas!

I'll go ahead and say it - I'm a dress girl. Anybody that knows me knows that I live in dresses. I've never liked jeans (not even in high school). I rarely wear pants and I don't even own any shorts. I'm just happiest in dresses. They are easy for me. I don't have to match up outfits. I just throw on a dress with tights and boots in the winter or sandals or flip flops in the summer. Add some big chunky earrings or a necklace and I'm good to go.

This has been my basic look all winter. I love black - it's slimming and easy. I found this great turqoise necklace on sale at Dillards and I have worn it to death.
I got this dress last year at Forever 21 and have basically worn it out - I love it so much.
This is my signature winter look - I take short sleeved or sleeveless dress and put long sleeved tees underneath and tights and boots. (I'm sorry I'm using this cheesy picture with my birthday cake but I couldn't find a good example in the pictures I looked through)
This is my summer look - dresses and more dresses. I wear a lot of black in the summer too.
But I try to add color. I got this coral dress at Forever 21 last summer and I love it too! I like to wear gold sandals and jewelry with it.

So I've been on the look for some summer dresses that I can take on vacation with me in a month or to wear to church or upcoming weddings. These are some of the dresses I am loving right now (you may see them on me in posts to come!) (hopefully)
I LOVE this dress from J Crew. I don't normally shop there because it's a little pricey for my blood but this is so pretty.

I'm on the verge of ordering these two dresses above from Forever 21 (can we say trendy and cheap?) I think they would make great dresses for going out to dinner in Hawaii!
I'm LOVING the long dress look right now! LOVE IT! I'm going to have to get a couple soon!
I think this dress from Banana Republic is so cute! It would be a good work/church dress.

I'm also a big fan of wearing cute, flowy skirts with tank tops and flip flops in the summer. That's my Saturday look usually.

I mostly shop at three places: Gap, Old navy and Forever 21 with a few occasional other stores thrown in there. I have several cute dresses I love that I got from Wal-Mart. This may make a few people mad - but I just am not crazy about clothes from Target. They look cute but they don't fit me right and I don't know - I just have an aversion for them.

I love clothes! I don't like to spend a lot of money on clothes but I love having new clothes!

Where is your favorite place to shop? And what is your favorite outfit?

Go to Big Mama and join the Fiesta!!!!!

I love that you love dresses...but we could not be closet buddies - I have ONE dress. ONE! Now, I do have a bunch of skirts and those are fun but I probably have as many shorts as you do dresses - funny!

Hey! Meant to tell you before I found you from Mer's blog a few days ago :)

I LOVE dresses, too. And also, wearing black during the summer (I can't help myself).

I genuinely would like to switch to JUST dresses and skirts - and maybe some bike shorts because long distance riding in a skirt on a windy day might be a little too challenging.

What stops me? Shoes. I have foot problems and wear orthotics. No flip-flops or sandals. I'm pretty much a sneaker girl. The sneaks are OK with a long jean skirt, but I don't try them with much else.

How fun!! I am NOT a dress girl at all, but you do inspire me now to atleast look at dresses hanging in the store. :) You look so cute in all your dresses! My fav stores for clothes are Old Navy, Target (sorry!), and Gap. Now, I'm ready to go shopping. :)

I love that dresses are your signature style! I wish I had a "signature" style. My kids have more clothes than I do!

Fun post and great dresses! Thanks for showing us into your closet a bit! I love to shop at Banana Republic, Anthropologie (although I rarely buy anything...just love their stuff), Gap and Target!

You have given me inspiration!!! Your dresses are SO cute!!

I love dresses too! And during the summer I usually have on a skirt and a tank top or t-shirt! Right now I'm obsessed with wearing shirt dresses with ballet flats!
I bought the dress from J Crew in navy blue and in black with white polka dots and LOVE them! Wait till it goes on sale and they usually go down nicely in price!

I have lots of dresses also. I mainly find summer dresses though; I don't have much luck with winter dresses. I'm mostly in slacks and sweaters in the winter. You have some really cute things!

I love all your dresses. I always think you have such great style and I feel a connection with anyone who loves them some Forever 21 merchandise.

Thanks for being part of the fiesta!

Love you and all the dresses! So cute! I saw the white dress from J Crew yesterday when I was looking for clothes for this post....absolutely love it! But, I also don't like to spend a lot of money on clothes, so I'll have to pass on that one.
I like Gap (outlet), Old Navy, and the Loft. I understand what you are saying about Target. I like their tops, but the bottoms don't fit me right.
Great post!

Rebecca (Sam's wife) said...

I am with you about target not fitting me but I have the same issue with wal-mart! I do find some cute tops at target though. they have had soem cute maternity stuff b/c you want to talk about expensive just wait-that is the expensive clothes. I just can't justify spending a ton of money on stuff that really only gets worn for a few months. it has been shocking for me. if i am going to spend money on stuff i want to know i am going to be wearing it for the rest of my life! ha!
i love to wear dresses too, more in the summer than winter. when i lived in south dakota-i didn't wear dresses as much b/c it was way too cold in the winter. i might be getting back into that now that i am in the south.
you have convinced me to maybe consider a long dress. i was kinda shying away from them, but maybe i need to at least try it on.
sorry for such a long comment!:-)

LOve your style!

I recently got a great dress from TJ Maxx, that depending on the shoes, can go from stay at home to church. A friend made me try it on and buy it! It was a little out of my comfort zone! I'm normally a skirt and jeans girl.

You are SO cute, and I love your dresses. How fun. I don't do dresses. I really should. And I met my hubby on a blind date too! :-)

I'm not a fan of Target clothes on me either. I rarely find something that fits right!

Right now I don't like to shop anywhere! Want to lose more weight first!

Ahhhh a Razorback fan. I LOVE how Darren McFadden can PLAY some football!!! He's a regular one man team.

Maybe I shouldn't bring up the fact that my little Badgers beat the Razorbacks (even WITH Darren playing) in the Capital One Bowl a year ago - - - - no, better not bring that up. Hehehehehehehe

I am so jealous! I wish I could wear dresses- I just never do- I have bought a few wrap around matte jersey ones for the summer- You inspired me to wear them more!

What a cute post! Your dress choices are so cute!!!

I wear black in the spring/summer all the time...in fact I'm wearing black right now! I love to wear dresses too...but I'm only 5 feet tall so most dresses/skirts that are meant to be knee length on me are mid-calf. It's a bit frustrating. So I wear pants made for short girls most of the time.

Right now I'm loving the halter for some reason, like this...I need this dress now!

The dress from BR would've made my list too. It's from the Palm Springs collection right? Which I almost chose just for that reason. I love the simplicity of good dresses as well and may have to check out forever 21 I just never seem to find things in there and so i now avoid it. I LOVE that J.Crew dress! I'm going to check that one out too!
Thanks for sharing!

You always look so super cute! You've inspired me lately to be more of a dress shopper--they are easy and can go either casual or dressy. I hate to spend money on clothes--I feel guilty every time I buy something, but I like having a few new things to wear. I think I've said before, but Francesca's is one of my favorite places right now. I also like Ann Taylor for classic things that can be worn for a long time--I just bought a straight black skirt and fitted white button-down shirt from there a few weeks ago. In the summer, I pretty much wear long shorts, tank tops and flip-flops every where I go (I really don't go anywhere non kid-oriented, so that outfit works.) Fun post. I'm anxious to check out more of the fashion fiesta when I get back home (Mom and Dad have improved their internet connection, but it's still frustrating!)

This has nothing to do with fashion...but after your answer about the Razorbacks, I feel you must know this. My cousin, Ronnie Hammers, played right guard for the Razorbacks late 60's. He played in the 1969 Shootout, and continues to wake up in the middle of the night upset. This will either make you love me more because I am a Razorback through relation, or you may block me from your blog because my cousin was part of the heartbreak.

Very cute dresses! I don't do dresses so well, in Maine the legs get cold quick! Plus there's that whole calf issue, so I tend to wear them long when I do!

Love the fiesta!

You are just the cutest! I'm with you about Target clothes. They're made for teeny boppers...of which I am NOT!

My style is jeans and a simple shirt-opposite of you. One perk of my job is that I can wear this style everyday, you see I hate to dress up! I like to shop at American Eagle, Old Navy and Target. You look so cute in these dresses, I think I may need to find me a few-change my wardrobe up a bit. Thanks for sharing!

What a fun post! I should have joined in, but I usually miss out of these Linky things. You always look great, Mz. Kelly. Me, I've loved fashion forever too, but have gotten out of the habit of shopping all the time like I used to when I was much younger. Now, I'm happy to find some bargains at yardsales like I have recently. A perfectly excellent Ann Taylor Loft black & white sweater for $2, along with some nifty summery t-shirt tops and I'm good to go. Have lots of capris & pants & skirts to mix and match and that's my usual MO. I do love flip-flops too & that's my choice in the summer most of the time. I hardly shop at too many stores anymore, cause I can get a "new clothes" fix by thrifting, but if I do want to browse, I always find good things at TJ Maxx or Ross. Got lots of my jewelry at yardsales too, so it's so much fun to mix up all the finds

Fun post! I'll have to do one of these sometime and I loved your Q&A session. I might try that too.

You are inspiring me to wear more dresses! You go girl! And I missed reading ya when I was on vacation...but I'm back!!

I've been leaning towards dresses/skirts more recently. I love how most of the dresses you choose are colorful!
I also love the long dresses (back in the day, they were called maxis) I haven't found any in my limited shopping excursions...besides, I'm petite and would probably look shorter if I wore one.

I LOVE your clothes! You can really pull off dresses- wish I could!

Okay... super super super cute! I just have to say, I know I don't "know" you, but from what I read you are beautiful inside and out! I actually saw a super cute dress this morning on one of the ladies at church and thought of your blog! lol. Maybe a sign that I have been spending too much time blogging?!? Anyway, I love all the dresses and you inpired me to look up Forever 21 and it turns out there is one just up the road in Nashville! I might go check it out today! Great style!!!

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only person who doesn't own a pair of shorts!

I love dresses and skirts, too, so we're on the same page.

One question - The tees that you wear under your dresses, where do you get them? Do you get a certain kind? Some seem like they would be too bulky.

Do you know what may finally motivate me to blog? The intense desire to tell Kelly stories. When I read this posting, I had an intense desire to tell all kinds of stories about the way you dressed in college. The endless pairs of colored tights! How you insisted on ironing your t-shirt before we would go exercise. The Sunday dresses you wore to class! How you painted your nails EVERY SINGLE morning before class. I used to wonder how you could stand to live with someone who was such a mess. Oh how I love you my friend! I love your clothing style now, but I've given up on asking for advice. You'll never help me!
