Grandparents in the HOUSE!

We got a treat yesterday. Harper's Nonny and Granddaddy came for a visit. Harper had a tough day yesterday with her teething. She was very fussy and would NOT take a nap.
I've been so proud of myself because last week I started her on a firm nap schedule. Before since I was home and we couldn't go anywhere for so long - I was just pretty willy nilly - letting her nap in my lap or whenever and wherever she decided she wanted to but I decided it was time to try and be a little more scheduled so every day I have been putting her in her room with the lights out, the fan on, the cool mist vaporizer, her favorite CD and just letting her go to sleep on her own and it has worked great!!! She takes a 2 - 3 hour nap and we both feel better. But she wasn't having it on Friday.
So my parents and I put her in the car and drove around and took her to Target because it was too hot in the middle of the day to stroll outside and then we just kept driving around so she would get some rest.
And then last night - my parents kept Harper (it was a pretty easy job because I put her to bed first) and Scott and I got to get out and go on a date. I have been looking forward to this ALL WEEK!!! It was the first time in months we have spent any time alone and been able to eat a meal together and it was just wonderful!!!! My parents wanted us to go to a movie or starbucks or do something but we had so much fun but couldn't wait to get home and check on Harper.
We went to our favorite place - Doe's!!! We splurged our diets and had tamales first. I LOVE Tamales.
Doe's is known for huge steaks - we split this one. I promise this wasn't just my meal. I'm not going to lose 15 lbs eating like this. ha!
This sign was hanging up near us and we had to laugh. Looks like we won't be coming to Doe's without a sitter for at least 8 more years! ha! Yesterday was the Wal-Mart Shareholder's meeting which I missed for the first time in 13 years. There are always lots of celebrities in town - yesterday at the meeting they had Michael Jordan, Ben Stiller, Kris Allen, Miley Cyrus, Smokey Robinson and maybe a few more. I PROMISE that there was a group that came in while we were eating that looked like a country band and they just looked familiar or famous to me. I could not figure out if they were. But I have a feeling we were eating with celebrities - if I only could only find out who. ha! Maybe I'm crazy.
(Yeay - Beth helped me figure it out - it was Trace Adkins! I googled how tall he was just to make sure and he's 6 foot 6 just like this guy was. He was also wearing a CMT t-shirt which clued me in)
Isn't this little girl the CUTEST? I swear if she wasn't mine - I'd be trying to adopt her. I just want to kiss her to death!

Now a little business before I wish you a good weekend!

The winners of the books for singles are:
Amber, Stephanie and Elizabeth. I will be contacting you to get your addresses!

I MAY get to get a few more books - so if I do - I'll ramdomly draw a few more names.

Show Us Where You Live Friday - THE OFFICE

THE OFFICE!!!

COMING UP:
Friday, June 12 - Bathrooms

Friday, June 19 - your choice - playroom, bonus room, laundry room
Friday, June 26 - Master Bedroom
Friday, July 3 - Garage/Yard
Friday, July 10th - Foyers

We are lucky enough to have two offices in our house. So we each have one. I haven't done hardly anything with Scott's office - it's just kind of a man cave. His old couch from before we were married with Cowboys blanket laying on it. Lots of Hog stuff.
I love this window with the window seat. It holds a lot of stuff and gives us extra storage.
Dawson loves to look out this window and bark at anything that moves. Especially the mail man, garbage men, or the UPS men. And especially when Harper is sleeping. UGH!
A shadow box of Scott's high school glory days
Scott's desk - where all the nerdy action happens (I'm just kidding but he is a computer programmer so I'm just saying..............)
My favorite thing - a picture of Razorback stadium
And in our laundry room - is my little office. I used to sit in here all the time B.H. (that's Before Harper) but now I really don't have much time. But sometimes at night I will sit in here to try and check up on blogs or e-mail. I mostly use a laptop in the living room where I can feed her and surf the internet at the same time.
Scott mounted this little TV for me. And made me this corner shelf.
My sweet friend Kelli made me this little name picture. LOVE IT!
Sitting on my desk is my Bible and a reminder to order seat backs for our football tickets.
Our wedding picture
I LOVE this lamp
I made this bulletin board last year. These are cards and notes people sent me when I was struggling with infertility. They are very special to me. I also have several precious birth announcements.
My diaper bag and purse always sit right here just waiting to be picked up and taken on the go!
I had planned way before I got pregnant on finding a special diaper bag and then I was given about 5 different ones - mostly made for me and I love them all and switch out a lot. I will post about them some day soon.

Okay - let's see your offices! I know not everyone has an office but I'm sure we will enjoy touring the ones that do. I have to be honest - I've only made it through about 25% of the kid rooms. I have absolutely LOVED them - just ran out of time but I will make it through.

Words of Encouragement

WOW

So I struggle all the time with why so many people read my blog. I'm such an ordinary girl with a very ordinary (but blessed) life. And then I think I know who my main audience is - Christian mothers in their 20's and 30's. And I keep learning that that is totally not true. There are many who read my blog who aren't Christians or are from other faiths. I know there are a lot of women who struggle with infertility who read my blog. But I'm pretty blown away by all the college aged girls and teenagers who read my blog - can't believe you want to read about an old woman in Arkansas. And obviously the number of singles who read my blog. I also know there are a lot of women older than me who read my blog with maybe teenagers or like my mom who likes to read blogs of younger women to remember the sweet time in her life when she had young children. And maybe I have other readers who don't fit any of those descriptions - what an amazing world this blog world is.

I know I talk about infertility a lot because that was my most recent struggle (besides the NICU stay). BUT your comments yesterday brought back a flood of emotions to me as I remember so greatly the pain of wanting to get married. I cried many times as I read your comments because I just hurt for you. I remember the feeling of wondering "what is wrong with me?" and "if I was just thinner, or prettier, or smarter, or funnier"......... I have a HUGE, HUGE burden for single girls. I really do know how it is hard to find your place in church. I'm thankful that Churches are family based and family focused. But sometimes it can make you feel very unwanted when you are sitting alone in the pew. I know that churches don't mean to do it just as married couples don't mean to leave their single friends out. But it can sure feel that way. I used to hate company picnics and Christmas parties because everyone brought their spouse and/or kids and there was loser me - hanging out by myself.

If you read the comments - you know you are NOT alone. And I realize more and more every day how many out there are hurting. Whether you are longing for a husband or a child, or you've lost a child or spouse, or you have a serious illness, or you've lost a parent, or you are suffering due to the recession (and that is SUCH an issue right now - so many are having a hard time).......there probably isn't anyone out there who is not hurting. And if you aren't.......just hold on ......your time will come.

Today I just feel led to list some verses of encouragement and hope. I would love for you to leave in the comments some words of hope or encouragement for each other. I think we all could use it.

Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. - Deuteronomy 31:6

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. – Matthew 11:28-30

Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. - Philippians 3:13-14

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. – Philippians 4:6

"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going." – John 14:1-4

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. – Galatians 6:9

Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God. – Psalm 42:5-6a
