Swimming and Bowling and Flipping

I feel like summer is winding down.  We have three weeks left until school starts so now my focus is completely shifting towards fall.

Except for the part where it's 100 degrees and the hottest summer I remember.  It's too hot to do anything honestly but stay inside.  And we have all the lights out and the curtains drawn trying to keep our house cool.

Will Holden has blocked tear ducts in both of his eyes.  I was hoping he would out grow this but he hasn't so the only option at this point is to have a little surgery to correct it.  His eyes are so gunky all the time that I have been looking so forward to having it fixed.  He was scheduled for this past Monday at 7 a.m.  We had to be there at 5:30 and it's 45 minutes away.  The girls were going to spend the night with Laurie but she was sick and I just hated to ask anyone else plus they are so easy going that we just took them along.  So we were all up at 4 and headed to have his procedure done.  When we got there, they didn't have him scheduled.  They had us wait until 6 to ask the nurses from that doctor's office and then we were told if we waited there until 8 they would check on our insurance and then try to work him in later that day.  I wish you could have seen my face.  We had already chased him around the waiting room for an hour at that point and we were all tired and he couldn't eat or drink.  So I kindly said "no thank you" and we left.  I was SOOOO angry.  I pretty much never get mad but I think I was overly tired and overly disappointed.

So I'm working on getting it scheduled again.  I'm thankful it's really not an emergency.

OH and we went to Cracker Barrel.  What else are you going to do when you are all ready at 6:30 in the morning and a little bit hangry.  :-)

There is this DARLING store in our downtown that sells the cutest kids clothing.  It is just so cute.  And they now have a little event room.  My friend Elizabeth did a story time there on Tuesday and the kids got to listen and then do a craft and eat a snack.  It was so precious.

If you are ever in Bentonville, go to Southern Style on Main Street.

On Thursday we met some friends at a local aquatic park to swim.  The girls had the best time.  They have big water slides and Harper was finally tall enough to go down them and she LOVED it.  She went over and over and over.

Harper spent all week at a gymnastics camp.  She decided in the spring that she really wanted to give gymnastics a try.  I thought it might be good to try camp first before we committed to lessons.  I'm so excited that she absolutely loved it so we are signing her up for lessons once school starts.  I think this will be good for her and she's so strong that I think she will do really well.  She has already been doing back bends and flips on the trampoline.  I'm trying to talk Hollis into it also.

We haven't been bowling in forever and thought it would be fun to take the girls on Saturday.  We were trying to think of something we could do indoors.  We had a great time.  We had to work zone defense trying to keep Will Holden from running down to the pins but other than that it was a lot of fun.

We have a lot of fun stuff planned for this upcoming week.  I think we are booked up.  And the next week I'm super busy helping with two charity events and then we have one more week and school starts.

Where does the time go?

And have I mentioned that it's HOT? :-)
