Compassion

Haiti Donate Online

My heart is heavy for Haiti tonight. It was last night also. I went to bed so sad. After going to El Salvador and seeing the kind of poverty that is probably 100 times worse in Haiti - I can't bear to imagine what the people of Haiti are going through.

All day today as I put a diaper on Harper or fed her or just held her - I thought about all the mothers in Haiti who are looking at their babies and children and not knowing where they will sleep, what they will eat or if they will have clean water. My heart is so tender for those mothers.
I know you have all seen the devastation and I pray you realize how blessed we all are and that your hearts will be open to help those who have been destroyed by this earthquake. Even if all you can do is pray for them - God loves the people of Haiti and hears our prayers.

There are many ways you can donate - an easy way is to text "Haiti" to 90999 to give $10 to the Red Cross. It will be on your next phone bill. OR you can text "disaster" to 90999 to give $10 to Compassion's disaster relief program. They will be working directly with the local churches who know where these families live and will be providing immediate relief to them. You could also visit HERE to donate.

There is a blogger who has set up a website : Hope for Haiti - they are going to be doing giveaways to raise money to support the people of Haiti.

Scott and I know first hand after going to El Salvador that we are MORE than blessed. We feel like God has given to us so we can give to others. That is why for every person who leaves a comment on this post and lets me know that you have donated (Please share where you have donated - I know there are other organizations helping besides compassion and Red Cross) - we will donate $1 to the compassion disaster relief to Haiti up to $1000.

Please only comment on this post if you have given money to the people of Haiti. You don't need to share the amount.

P.S. (and no one has even mentioned this but I wanted to make it clear) - we aren't doing this to say "look at us - we are giving" ........it's just we have been blessed and we wanted a way to encourage others who can to give. I'm hoping that is the case and that y'all know our hearts!

"If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children, let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth." 1 John 3:17-18

We are connected to two single missionary sisters in Haiti and over the years, have sent envelopes of clothing. It is truly one of the poorest countries in the world. These precious ladies scrape for everything that they have to feed themselves and their 'adopted' children. I imagine now that clean water is one of their greatest needs. I wish I could go visit and help.

We gave thru our church mission board. Thank YOU for caring Kelly.

HI Kelly,
Thank you for making the donations so easy. I have just been to the Compassion site. Let us know of anything else we can do. We know your gentle and giving heart and know this is not grandstanding on your part. Sometimes some of us need a gentle nudge in the right direction to help those in need. Your text made it very easy to give when it was most needed. Thanks for that.
Keeping you in my heart in Ga.

I texted 'Haiti' to 90999 from my cell phone. I don't feel that is enough. My husband is an US Navy Search and Rescue crewman and he is on standby to join his fellow sailors down there to offer help.
We will continue praying for peace and mercy for those suffering, and pray for people here to affect change by giving what they can.
Thank you for giving us the chance to help in another way, simply by commenting.

Kelly, my husband and I sponsor a Haitian child through Compassion. His name is Peterson, and he is 12. We also sponsor a 10 yearold boy through a Southern Baptist missionary...his name is Kenson. We have visited Haiti once, and for obvious reasons feel led by God to go back! Please keep our 'boys' in your prayers...we aren't sure yet of their well doing but I have no doubt that God is caring for every detail of their needs.

Because God is STILL the God of that city, the king of that nation...Greater things are still to be done there! I just know it...

Isaiah 41:5-6 says..."The coastslands saw it and feared, the ends of the earth were afraid; They drew near and came. Everyone helped his neighbor, and said to his brother, "Be of good courage!"

Thanks for supporting Haiti and encouraging others to do so, too! What a blessing!

Kelly,
Our 21 year old daughter flew back from Haiti Monday night. The next day the earthquake hit. She is a nutrition major at Samford U and was there working in the Canaan Orphanage and their malnutrition clinic with other students from her school. 3 of her friends are still there but are safe,we received word on Wed. also that the orphanage is ok as are the children, praise God! We can't believe she missed the quake by 24 hours. Our hearts are broken because from what our daughter described, Haiti had so many challenges BEFORE the quake, now it's just unimaginable the horror of everything. All we can do is pray and donate - GOD be with these people! Give them comfort and hope for tomorrow! Thank you for making this an easy way to donate, God bless your giving heart!

Donation to Compassion! We had just signed up to sponsor a child two weeks ago. It was a Christmas gift to our family. Our 5 year old granddaughter selected the child. We had decided the country would be Haiti since our two sons had been there on a missions trip and had seen the great need there first hand. We received our packet with our child's information on the day of the earthquake! We are still waiting to hear information regarding our child's condition and situation. Please pray with us for a 5 year old girl named Sami as we anxiously await news. Thanks!
