First of all - I was SO happy today because Harper had a great day in the nursery!! You have no idea how hard I have prayed today and it was so nice to go check on her twice and neither time was she crying or screaming. I'm so thankful for her sweet nursery workers who love on her! My parents were here today and got to go to church with us and see her in the nursery! And we went to lunch and she was so happy and did so good. OH it was just a great day!

My dad got home from India last night and we were so glad to have him home safe and sound. Tomorrow is his birthday and today is Grandparents day so we were glad to spend time with them! Harper is so blessed to have four wonderful grandparents in her life!
We were playing with her in her room and she started pulling up on me!!! She is just changing and growing so quickly these days!

I told ya'll yesterday about my "faith" dress and then I found out something SO amazing about it and I just have to share because I want to show you how God is at work even when you don't know it and feel like your prayers are not being answered.
But first I feel like I should share that YES - I love having a girl but I used to DREAM of having three boys. I would have been over the moon if we had had a boy. I don't want anyone to think I would have been unhappy with a boy. I dreamed of a boy playing football and I still secretly wish for a boy if we have another child. There is nothing sweeter than a little boy. It's just that I just always had this feeling I would have a daughter. I can't explain it but I just knew.
Anyway..........I think this is unbelievable. When I shared the story of the dress yesterday - the lady who I bought it from off of etsy left me a comment and then she e-mailed me to share something with me and it just gave me chills and made me cry. She has been reading my blog since Harper was born but had no idea she had one time made a dress for her until she saw it yesterday. And she remembered it because when she made it - she felt like God asked her to pray over the dress and to pray for the little girl who would be wearing it. She had no idea that at the the time there WAS no little girl yet or that the little girl would really need prayers at one point. See how God goes ahead and works in such amazing ways???

HE LOVES US - OH HOW HE LOVES US!

And finally - look who is starting to crawl!!!! When did she get so big???

So this is my 1000th post!!! WOW - that is a whole lot of rambling from me. So in honor of my 1000th post - I was wondering if you read my blog - I would love to hear from ALL of you - even the lurkers who have never commented - and I would love to hear one thing you are thankful for today! It would be great to start off this week with a LONG list of uplifting praises and I would love to hear from EVERYONE who is reading!!! Ya'll hear from me every day - now I'd like to hear from you!!!!

I am thankful that the Lord gave me another birthday to celebrate today. I turned 25 today. I'm single and have no children. Sometimes I do question what God really has in store for me, but I trust him completely and know he has his own plan for me....for that alone I am thankful:)

Your blog is one of my favorites to read! Thanks for always showing God's beauty & grace in "the big things" and "the everyday things". It is a good reminder! I praise God today for my family, they are so precious to me!

I just wanted to say how thankful I am for my two boys. Carter(the oldest) was born by emergency c-section because his heartrate kept dropping. What a miracle that ended up being because if he wasn't born when he was he could've died. He ended up having his cord tied in a true knot and a vaginal birth could have killed him. Also, Maddox (my youngest) had to be in the NICU for 2 days after he was born because of fluid in his lungs. I'm so thankful for the medical staff at the hospital they were born at for their intuition and medical expertise. I believe God helped guide them.

One more thing...I'm thankful for my husband for putting up with me!

I am thankful for so many things in my life, but most of all for my twin baby girls (just a couple of months younger than Harper) and my amazing husband who is an even better father than I had imagined. I am also thankful that we are blessed with a wonderful extended family who love and support us!

I always check your blog! I am a fellow HOGS fan, and a fellow Mommy! I started reading your blog when I heard that there was a baby being transferred into the NICU where one of my best friends works from Arkansas (where I am from too). I called her and told her that if she came across a baby Harper from Arkansas, to take special care of her, 'cause her Mama has an amazing story! I live in Tulsa and called up to St. Francis to check on you guys alot while you were here! Been following you ever since! Today I am thankful for my two sweet and HEALTHY boys!

Wow, I totally admire you as a mother & christian, I read your blog daily and am always astounded at what you say! But 1,411 comments and you will read them all...how impressive is that!? That is such an awesome story about that precious miracle dress you just shared, I love to hear things like that. But my one thing that I would say I'm thankful for is my precious job..I'm a full time nanny to 3 sweet little girls who 3, 2, & almost 3 weeks old. I can't explain how much I love the family I work for and how much it is a blessing to be so close and involved with them! I used to pray so hard for a job like this about 2 or 3 years ago and one day I just found it online easy as that and have been working for them for 2 years now and I love every single minute of it!

I am thankful for so many things mostly today I am thankful for a great husband and an amazing family. Oh and a gorgeous weekend. We were able to make a trip down to the Outer Banks in North Carolina and we had absolutely amazing weather!!

Kelly,
I too have read your blog for awhile & never commented, but I sure did PRAY for Harper when I heard about your stay in the NICU with her. We spent a little over 3 weeks in the NICU w/our daughter (she came 2 months early), so in a way I felt like I could relate to what you were going through a little.

I'm thankful for my husband & for 2 healthy daughters.

I enjoy your blog & I'm sure you would be just as much of a joy to meet in person!

Congrats on your 1000th post & to your sweet family!

Hey Kelly, I'm one of those lurkers you talked about!! Been reading your blog since just before Precious Harper was born!!! I love your blog!! Your family is soo precious and I enjoy reading everyday!! I have three little boys, ages 1, 3, and 5!!! Stepping stones!! They are the light of my life and they are the ones keeping me going throught this difficult time in my life!! Again, Love your blog!!!

Natalie said...

Hi Kelly! So you asked for the lurkers to come out of hiding, and here I am! I've followed your site since Harper's birth and have continued to read because your positive spirit is so infectious! What's crazy is that we have so many friends in common...I'm not sure how we haven't met yet! What you share is so real and feels like words I would write myself in the same situation, so it's a joy to check in day-to-day and feel so understood.

To answer your question, I am thankful for God's grace...grace to love me and save me even though I don't deserve it, grace to give me the opportunities and experiences in life that bring me so much joy, and grace to sustain me through my failures and life's dissapointments that come along the way. I'm overwhelmed lately by just how much that grace means to be extended from such a big, BIG God to little ol' me!

Congrats on the 1000th post!

Kelly! I have been a reader for over a year now and have loved it from day one! I have left a few comments as well as sent you a few e-mails because we do have a few connections. My husband, Trey Speight went to OBU with you back in the fall of 1993. He was on the golf team. He is still good friends with Damon McDonald who also went to OBU and I think you are friends with him. Also, I have recently became great friends with Amanda Vestal. I did my student teacher with her Mom and live in her hometown.

So enough rambling about all that! Today I am thankful for my sweet and healthly 2 1/2 year old daughter, Emerson Jane. I am also thankful for my wonderful husband, family, friends, health, job, etc.

I also blog http://speightfamilyhapengings.blogspot.com.I do not have the wise and inspriational posts you have but do post daily pictures of Emerson to keep the grandparents happy!

Its hard to choose just one thing to be thankful for today... however I would have to say I am very thankful for my 2 beautiful nieces whom Im extremely close to, as well as all the little children I babysit for... because I'm only 21 and still in college but have had 2 'female' surgeries already, and I also have abnormal cells, as well as polycstic ovarian syndrome; I'm not sure if I'll be able to have kids; so having all these kids in my life brings me so much joy for the time being while I wait patiently to become a mom :O)

When my husband and I found out we were expecting a girl I CRIED b/c I was afraid I could not raise a girl as well as I have been my 16 month son, but then I read your blog and see how WONDERFUL your life is with Miss Harper and I KNOW that I can do it! Thanks SO much oh and my praise for the day is that this precious little girl has made it to 28 weeks gestation and we had a scare this morning and went to the ER but everything came back NEGATIVE...God is GOOD...ALL the time!!!

You've never heard from me....but I've been reading your blog for a couple of months now. My big praise...On August 6th of this year my husband was in a serious ATV accident. He broke his neck and his back. He fell off an 80 foot cliff. He defied the odds. He should be dead, or at the very least paralyzed...but he is neither. God saved him that day and we both know it. Even though about 5 weeks post accident we are still having a rough time, we are never anything but incredibly thankful that he is here, not paralyzed, and not brain damaged. God is so good. He is in a neck brace after having a 3 inch screw inserted into his neck, and we are still praying like crazy that his T7 vertebrae won't compress anymore and require further surgery. We celebrated our first son's 1st birthday last week, and we have never felt more blessed than we do now. Go check out my blog at www.thesimsfamilyblog@blogspot.com

Needless to say, they are who I am thankful for today. Keep up the fun and faith-filled writing; little did you know there was a Jersey girl who feels like she's been living in a parallel universe--same big-haired school pics and all! :->

Your daugher is precious. I am a huge diehard UK fan, but I am also an sec girl who loves all the good southern football! By the way Arkansas and Kentucy have had some awesome games over the years. One quick story- The first UK football game I went to was against Arkansas, and I remember asking my dad as a young girl, What are those Arkansas fans doing? He replied there just callin those hogs. That was really neat to me. Anyway, keep up the good work and God Bless you!

I am thankful for the little things in life- the things that often get overlooked. For example, the amazing learning that takes place in our little ones lives, like when Olivia (my 13 month old) brings me a book after I ask her if she wants me to read her one. I am thankful for in that moment, her WANTING to be with me (cause I know it won't always be that way.. ahem, teenage years), and for her little body sitting on my lap, so warm and cuddly, for her tapping her head when we read the word "hat", for her repeating those few words she knows, for her!

Praise the Lord my Nana (grandma) is with Jesus today! She is no longer in pain. She no longer has sorrow. It often reminds me of the Chris Tomlin song "I will rise" if you have never heard it you should go listen to it. (I think you have posted it on your blog before Kelly) But that is what I am thankful for today!

By the time you make it to my comment I bet you have some tired eyes :)

Today I am thankful that I am not in control but He is, we are earnestly trying to raise money for our adoption, we can't do it without our mighty God. I am so thankful that He has His hands all over our adoption and He knows exactly how everything will fall into place even thought I don't. He is faithful even when I am faithless. Oh the beauty of His grace and love.

I'm not sure if I have ever posted one here or not so here goes.

November 11th 2008 I delivered conjoined twins girls who lived for an hour. I love my daughters and I'm so thankful for the time God gave us with them. But today I am really thankful to be 19 weeks pregnant with a healthy baby!

I never know hoe much I took for granted that our three year old daughter is healthy until we lost the girls. God has really used that experience to instill in my a joy for living and a love for my children like I have never had before.

SO I guess I'm thankful for a lot of things.

I love your blog you are such a sweet family and I love that you keep glorifying God on here!

I have been reading your posts since about the time you had Harper - you are a great writer and I always enjoy everything you write about. Today I am thankful for so many things - but at the moment the rain - we have been in a pretty long drought and it has been much needed - I got to open my windows and use no AC for the first time since we moved here in May - it was wonderful

I love you blog and Harper is so precious. You are so blessed. I have been following for over a year now and love your blog and love to read about your faith and your relationship with God. It is so uplifting. I am thankful for my wonderful family, husband, friends and thankful that I am able to work full time in this economy. I am also thankful that I came across your blog from Angie Smiths blog when you were about 4 months pregnant with Harper. Hope you have a blessed week :)

I'm from Vermont, and what i'm thankful for are my fabulous friends who continue to love me no matter how many times i move or change jobs in hopes of finding myself! You and your blog have been such an encouragement to me, especially when you talk about your single years & trusting that God would provide the husband you desired. It's one of the first blogs i read everyday! Know you are prayed for and that Harper is just TOO precious for words! Oh, and i graduated from Union University, but almost transfered to OBU my sophmore year along with one of my roommates. :)

Hi Kelly, I guess I fall into the category of "lurker" altho I have left you a comment or two. I've been reading your blog since Harper was born. I think I heard of y'all from the BabyBangs (Amanda Moore-Jones)blog who was requesting prayer for you. I am a mom of 3 grown children (1 of whom is severely handicapped and lives at home w/ my husband & me) I love the Lord and I love reading your blog daily. You are a blessing!

My son- my daughter and my amazing husband. I love your blog- and your transparency. Keep up the great work. Kelly,

I discovered your blog when you found out you were pregnant. The night Harper was born my husband and I both watched your post and cried and prayed for you and your family. It is SO exciting for us to watch as Harper grows. You are a wonderful blessing to the World from God. He certainly placed you in the world to spread his word and I each night I pray that God will use me as he has you! God Bless you, your family and baby Harper!
