I'm "falling" for you

We made a little visit to the doctor this morning. Looks like Harper has a double ear infection. We are pretty sure it's all caused by her teething (which I was looking at her this morning and she has FOUR top teeth all coming in at once - oh my!) She hasn't been fussy at all or ran a temperature but she was pulling at her ear this morning so I thought I would get her looked at and I'm glad I did. We are armed with some meds and hopefully we will be all better soon. Bless her little heart - four teeth and a double ear infection and she has just been real happy and sweet.
We had a trip to the Pumpkin Patch planned for tomorrow but I think we are going to stay home tomorrow and try to get well and we'll go another day instead. I have looked forward to having a baby and taking them to the pumpkin patch for years now. Every fall I would just dream of the day I could pull a wagon with my little baby in it and pick out pumpkins and take pictures. I just LOVE fall so much!

We don't have this dress - just thought it was cute. We have a similar one. This dress is from Lolly Wooly Doodle.

BESIDES football and the new TV schedules - I was thinking about what else I love about fall - I love these cute little fall outfits and Fall clothes in general. I love tights and boots and sweaters!
I LOVE when the leaves change. This is the University of Arkansas in the fall - it is always SO pretty! The leaves are beginning to change here and I can't wait for the peak!
I love Caramel Apple Spice drinks at Starbucks - have you had one? I usually only treat myself to one EVERY once in a while but Oh so yum! Of course once they bring out the hot chocolate flavors and it's colder - that's my drink of choice!
I LOVE pumpkin candles and sweet cinnamon pumpkin lotions from Bath and Body works!

I love all the fun and festive leaves and pumpkin cake pans that are out there. I don't actually have any (or really do much baking) but they sure are cute!

I have yet to do any fall decorating. I usually just do mums and a pumpkin and a fall wreath. I'm not into decorating my house. I'm just waiting it out for Christmas. I didn't do much last year since I was 9 months pregnant but this year I'm planning to start early and really decorate a lot - it's Harper's First Christmas! I want it to be so special.

What is your favorite thing about fall??

I love the cool, crisp weather, changing leaves, and anything pumpkin flavored! Plus I feel so much more inspired and motivated to get back in the kitchen to experiment with new recipes. It's just too hot in the summer! I recently moved to Texas, so I am missing traditional fall weather, but am told it will cool down eventually!

Sorry to hear about the ear infections. Just an FYI - you may want to start putting diaper rash lotion on Harper right away. My little one had lots of ear infections and ALWAYS got a diaper rash from the medication. Always better to plan ahead. We also started feeding him lots of yogurt to counteract the medicine which seemed to help too. Anyway - just wanted to give you some helpful tips from one mom to another. Hope she feels better soon.

Hope Harper gets better soon...but if she is not fussy with an ear infection, consider yourself very lucky! They made my youngest daughter very sick and cranky.
I LOVE fall...it is my favorite season. Have you tried the Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks? Oh, my goodness, it is soooo good! I just crave them for the whole two months they have them. I also have a great recipe....Pumpkin Pie Crunch..that is awesome and so easy to make. It's great for fall get-togethers. Let me know if you would like the recipe. Missed pictures of sweet Harper today:)

Sorry to hear Harper has some ear infections. Has she started on any formula, by chance? I know you were planning on weaning b/f about now. Just wanted to give you a heads up that sometimes the dairy-based formula can cause ear infections. Dairy is very mucous-producing. Or she might be consuming a lot of yogurt and other dairy foods.

We ended up having to remove all dairy to get both our son's ear infections to go away - repeated and constant ear infections. (We did the repeated antibiotics and even tubes, but to no avail. Dairy-free diet was the only cure for both our boys.) Keep this in mind if she continues to get these.

If she just started milk formula or has recently greatly increased her milk product/dairy foods consumption, this could be the culprit.

Good luck - hope she feels better soon. If she reacts to the antibiotic, ask for non-dye antibiotics and see if she's better. Worked for us. (Amoxicillin almost always had red dye in it.)

If you know anyone else with repeated ear infections, have them try a dairy-free week and see how the child reacts. This is very common.

Take care!

Fall is my favorite season - the cool air, the changing leaves ( I miss seeing those being in California)and going to the pumpkin patch. I also love October because that is the month my daughter (affectionatly called "pumpkin" by her daddy) was born. We are celebrating her 5th birthday this year with a fall themed pumpkin party and her friends will all have pumpkins to decorate.

Pumpkin bread, sticky carmel corn and smores! Yes, fall brings out the best in my eating habits! :)

I feel so bad for Harper! My guy is cutting his top two and has been really good. My friend told me that her dr. said teething is really, really painful for babies and they get their teeth b/f they are old enough to remember b/c it is so painful. Now, how would that dr. know? :)

I LOVE Fall!!! I love pumpkins and warm colors. Apple Spice Candles and yummy soups that you just couldn't heat up your kitchen to cook in the summer! I love opening my windows in the late afternoon and letting the breeze blow through the house and the way it feels to sit outside with the cool breeze blowing and the warm sun on your face. I love that first day that you get to curl up in yoga pants and a sweater. I love cleaning out the fireplace and getting ready for cold weather. But MOST of all I love knowing that CHRISTMAS is just around the corner!

There are so many things to love...picking apples, watching the leaves turn, playing in them after they've fallen, going to the pumpkin patch, WARM cider drinks, homemade WARM apple crisp with a touch of vanilla ice cream, sipping those warm drinks outside on a cool evening under the stars. It all makes me homesick. We moved from Western NY to South Carolina last summer and I SO miss the fall. It just isn't the same. Thanks for warming my heart tonight with some great memories!

Kelly- sorry to hear about the ear infection. POOR BABY!

My DD could not live without one, but one day we went cold turkey!!! It's hard, but you just tell them you can't find it-HAHA! She had so many ear infections...so I googled ear infections and pacifiers one day...and it was crazy how much they are connected.

Fall weather is so wonderful, but here in Alabama fall and spring go by in the blink of an eye. It's like we go from summer to winter. (I say winter, but it's never cold enough to even buy winter coats!) Regardless, it goes by too quickly!
Oh, and the pumpkin patch is a yearly ritual for my family too!!

Also, being new to this whole mom thing, where did you find all of Harper's adorable bow bands? They are so cute. I'd love to start our sweet Caroline's collection.

Hope sweet Harper is better soon. Ear infections are NO fun, but usually once you get antibiotics in their little systems the ear infection goes away soon after.

My favorite thing about fall is the cool weather and wearing layers. The colors of fall are so goregous too. (especially where I live) We always go up to Newfound Gap where the trees are gorgeous and take fall pictures. I'm excited to do that with my family this year!! Last year Bradyn was just too young since it's much cooler up in the mountains.

We're planning a trip to the pumpkin patch as well. I'm super excited about it!

I love the Hot Apple Cider drink at Starbucks too...besides a frapp or a mocha, its the only thing I'll drink there.

Gracie (my grand-daughter who is a week older than Harper) also has a double ear infection...I think she is teething...no teeth yet, but her mama did not get her first tooth until she was 9 months old, so I figure any day! LOL!

We don't get much leaf changing color here in southern california...but we like to go to a mountain town called Julian that is only 30 minutes from San Diego and enjoy fall and winter (snow!) and have lunch, shop and have a slice of fresh apple pie and a cup of coffee. They are famous for their apples!

Pumpkins, oh yes. That is fall to me! I love fires in the fireplace, and rainy days and candles burning and warm fuzzy socks.

Didn't have time to read through all the comments -- hope this isn't a repeat. From much experience, I wanted to share that if Harper is on antibiotic you might want to consider giving her pro-biotics or at least some yogurt during that time. Yeast infections can develop from taking antibiotics. I mention it only because I've had to deal with it myself and with my girls and BOY!

Praying Harper gets well soon. Thankful she's been good for you this far!

Poor little Harper with the double ear infections! London's top four teethe came in the exact same way, all at once! She wasn't very fussy over it either. She just chewed on everything! haha!

I love pretty much everything you listed about fall. There aren't many big trees here in Dallas, Tx to enjoy the leaves turning, but that is one of my favorite memories of fall as child. My parents and would take a drive down the Natchez Trace is Mississippi every year at the peak of leaves changing and it was SOOOO beautiful.

My Starbucks drink of choice during this time of the year is the Pumpkin Spice Latte. My little boy always gets the carmel cyder though. And at Christmas, I switch to anything minty.

Can't wait to see what Harper is wearing to the pumpkin patch!

Lie you, I have love taking my "little one" to the pumpkin patch. He's four now but we've had a lot going on medically so last year was his first year to go to a pumpkin patch. We went to two of them and it was a blast. I'm looking forward to going again this year.

I hope Harper feels better real soon. I'm glad it does not seem to be bothering her too much.

Oh no poor baby..get well soon. Averee had 5 teeth come in at once and broke out in hives all over her little body. I was so scared, they would come and go and they were the size of grapefruit. She was Harpers age, too. We have early teethers.haha!

Oh Fall, I love fall so much. What about a walk through the neighborhood, with the trees blowing the beautiful golden-red-orange leaves to and fro. And pumpkin patches and pumpkins...oh my!
LOVE IT

It sounds to me like Harper may not be able to sleep through the night & take her naps due to fluid build up in her ears from the Eutashion tubes not being in the draining position yet. This is a very common baby "thing", that goes away with time. The poor little ones tubes are horizontal & can't drain so pressure builds up causing pain.......so they sit up to relieve the pain.

They can have fluid build up with an infection or without an infection. As soon as I read the "every hour" rising......it brought me right back to what I experienced with my 5th child (my last). It seemed by the time he got to an hour of sleep is when the pressure was so that made him uncomfortable. The poor little guy never experienced regular sleep until he had tubes placed in his ears at the age of 1 & then again at three. The change was immediate & he was finally able to get a good nights sleep........me too!!! :)
It's hard on them too.

Just a thought this could be bothering Harper too. Usually by her age they are sleeping longer so there must be something she's trying to tell us.

awww...now you are making me miss fall (we don't get it out in Hawaii). But out here one of the things I LOVE is the high surf. Seriously, we get awesome waves in the fall. But back home I miss the fall bonfires...everyone sitting around, telling stories. Good times!

Kelly, When my kids have an ear infection they did not sleep at all. I remember last week you said Harper doesn't sleep much they say to lay down puts pressure on the ear and makes it hurt more. Good luck.

I live in Puerto Rico, so we have tropical weather year round and NO seasons! But, Starbucks does bring out the fall/winter flavors (Peppermint Mocha - yum!) and stores stock up on fall scents and decorations - so we just fake it a bit :-)
Hope baby girl is feeling better.
Cheers!

Hi Kelly,
I'm wondering if you could post where this adorable Halloween dress is from. I saw it in a previous post (maybe last fall?) and loved it then too!! I am expecting a girl and would love to buy one for her for next fall.
Also, can you post where your green top with the ruffles on the collar is from? (It's in many of your pics and is just adorable!)
THANKS!
Your post has me craving a Caramel Apple Spice...may have to go get one today!
I hope Harper is feeling much better soon, the poor girl!
Have a great day!

I love the cooler weather, the colors of the changing leaves, the pumpkins, gourds, the soups and stews that seems so appropriate at this time of year, pumpkin and apple crisp, fall decorations from our children's early years - everything, I think.

Praying Harper feels better soon.

Blessings!

So sorry Harper is sick! Glad you caught it early. My niece (22 months) is cutting her 2 yr molars and they are giving her fits. Poor things. I love Fall, but in Dallas, we don't really have one...at least most years, there are no changing leaves. :( I grew up in OH/MI and I really miss that color--once in college I had a pic taken of me in front of a tree that had purple, yellow, orange, red & green--all on the same tree! So pretty. Love the fall pumpkin dress...can't wait to see Miss Harper in her Fall attire--I'm sure you have some cute stuff! Is she going to dress up in a costume for Halloween? :) Hope you make it through the rest of the week and weekend OK and that you and Harper feel better. :)

We are big fans of fall and my husband loves Halloween (I think it's because his birthday is two days before) so we decorate our house for fall like most people decorate for Christmas! I love the cooler weather, the cozy clothes, the crisp, fresh smell in the air and - of course - football!

Hope Harper is better soon!

Hi Kelly! I just started reading (stumbled upon it from a friend's blog). You are very funny and personable...and Harper is adorable and sweet!! I happened to read right before going to Starbucks so I decided to try the apple spice...YUMMY!!

Happy Fall!! Its my fav too!!

My favorite things are the changing leaves and pumpkin spice lattes from Starbucks!
My kids were the same with their ears. My 1st and 2nd got all 4 top teeth at the same time and never ran a fever or showed any other symptoms, except, WAKING UP AT NIGHT! Then I knew something was wrong, and sure enough always an ear infection from teething!

Hi Kelly! I just recieved an email from your Mom...she is so sweet! We would sure love to meet yall next weekend but I have a feeling a few extra fans will be in town..hehe. Your Mom told me to look for the older couple dressed in red on the 50 yard line HA! My Mom lives about two hours away and she will be meeting us up there for the day on Friday. We will be staying at a B&B somewhere out there. Marc wants to suprise me...{fingers crossed it's ok}. A mans idea of great is not always the same..heehee. I do hope you make it to the game but if you dont I will make sure to holler for both of us... we will be the couple in the last minute stinky seats. I will be the one trying to not have a panic attack due to the large crowds...Oh for the love of football~

Awww.. poor Harper! Glad she is on the mend now and even better that she was still her happy self even with her aches and pains. I have NEVER tried the Carmel Apple Spice drink from Starbucks - but Carmel anything is my weakness for sure! I will have to try that sometime. I LOVED the picture of Fayetteville with the beautiful leaves - makes me really miss home. :o( My kids are now almost 16 and don't enjoy going to the pumpkin patch any longer and doing hayrides, etc., which makes me very sad. However, I may just have to force them to go with me this year - LOL Enjoy your time with Harper - it was always one of my most favorite places to take the kids in the fall and we always got some really great pictures! My favorite thing about fall is the changing colors of the leaves, and the cool crisp temps that we have this time of year in the Northeast - that is the one thing I don't miss about being home in Arkansas - it takes such a long time to cool off there after the summer. Have a great day! :o)

I love everything about fall! No really, EVERYTHING! My favorite would have to be stepping on crunchy leaves (sometimes I walk in a zig zag pattern just to hear that satisfying crunch). :-)

I found the article!

Pacifier Overuse Can Lead to Ear Infections

http://www.consumeraffairs.com/news04/fishman/2006/pacifiers_ear_infections.html

What they mean by overuse, I'm not sure...Pacify means to "delay the anger or agitation of".......but some parents let their kids suck on them all day long and seem permanently stuck to their mouths when it is not even necessary!

Everything you said and more. I thrive on the cooler although it takes a little longer to reach Southeast Texas. I have all my Fall and Halloween down but haven't put it up--planning to do that this weekend. I love layering clothes, boots, jackets, hot cups of flavored coffee. All the leaves, pumpkins, the smells--oh the smells of cinnamon and pumpkin spices. Ok...I need to stop!

My son had a walker and loved it. He zoomed around the kitchen every night while I cooked. He was able to walk before he was 11 months and I give all the credit to the walker! I have heard people say that they aren't safe or worth the money, but I disagree with both. He played in his walker more than his entertainer!

I love fall, and I love that dress too.
I love the colors of the leaves even though I don't get to enjoy them but only by pictures (I live in FL, praying one day I will move to the Smoky mountains), love pumpkin and pumpkin patches and the cooler weather :)
