Sweet Caroline

Harper and I had a fun day today! We went over to my parent's house to meet up with one of my first blogger friends - Caroline. We call her "Sweet Caroline" at our house because she is so precious! I just adore her and I met her in person for the first time the day I checked out of the hospital and got to Tulsa to see Harper. She and her mother were there waiting for me. They had driven over from Texas to be there. I started crying (and so did my mom) today trying to tell them how much that meant to us and how much that made a terrible day so much better.

Her family has a lake house in Arkansas and they come every summer so they drove up from there to see us. This is Caroline's Aunt Chris, her mom Robin and Caroline.
And this is my mom, me and Harper and my aunt Linda. I realized I was the only one there without a sister. Well, me and Harper. :-) It was a fun girl's day!!!

I thought Harper looked so cute in this little dress and bow!!!
She really liked Caroline. I'm thinking it's her blond hair and love for BIG, BOLD accessories!
Mom fixed us a great girly lunch and we just enjoyed visiting!!!
Strawberry Salad, Grapes, Chicken Salad and a yummy muffin (maybe my mom will share the recipe???)
The fact that we are all 3 looking at different cameras will tell you that all of us girls were pulling out our cameras on this day!
I just had to show you these precious monogrammed bloomers! OH the sweetness!!! This is why if we have another girl - her monogram has to be HBS so she can wear these too!
Our day would have only been better if our sweet blogger friend, Jenna, could have joined us! We love her also but we did leave her a joint voicemail. You can't really tell but that is her picture on the computer - so really it's like the 3 of us were together!
By the way - Caroline and Jenna - both funny, southern, beautiful, Godly, sweet ......and SINGLE! So if you know any Godly, handsome, hardworking men.........send them my way and maybe I can set up a little mini (WHOLESOME) Bachelorette! (By the way - should have picked Reid).

P.S. Harper was just pure delight today. Six hours in the car and a day with strangers and she was so good and happy. The first 6 months of her life were hard. She cried all the time and never and I mean NEVER slept. But the poor thing had reflux, was teething and had itchy eczema. You would cry all the time too. It was tough. I won't lie. But she could not be any easier than she is right now. I want to cry every day thinking about how fast she is growing. I was listening to Focus on the Family tonight on the drive home and they were talking about taking mental videos of your children because you just want to freeze frame those precious moments with them because it's over so fast. It is so true. I'm treasuring every last second with her and I hope you are with your children too. I just keep singing that "Hootie" song "It won't be like this for long". That goes for the hard and the wonderful moments alike!

I love the Darius Rucker song, it just makes me cry every time I hear it. That and the Trace Adkins song, You're Gonna Miss This... the things that I already miss and mine are only 8 and 3!

Oh, you are soooo right. Tonight my mental memory is of my husband holding our sleeping son in his arms to bring him to bed. Our son, Joseph, had his little hands around my husband's neck and his head nestled on his shoulder. Why does it have to go by so fast? I am just blessed that I get to be home with my son to have so many times and memories.

I really think 6 months is the turning point with a baby. It's like they get their little personalities and you finally feel like you figure them out. At least that is how I felt. You have so many great days ahead with Harper!

Yes, I know what you mean about taking mental videos. I have been doing that a lot. Cillian is walking and the sound of his little feet is to die for--I will never forget it.
Believe it or not.....I have a pair of monogrammed diaper cover/bloomers for Cillian. He wore them at 3/6 months. I had the cutest picture of him curled up with his little bottom sticking up and those sweet bloomber. I monogrammed his intials in baby blue and of course a boyish font. But, he's a baby so it can be a little fancy!!

If you need a unique "h" name, I have a friend named Henley. It was a play on her grandmother's name Henrye Lea. I thought it was cute and different. (and NOT Henrietta! ha) I also have a granddaughter named Harlee--- which I did not like (the name-- not the kid lol). But that's too close to Harper, anyway. =)
I used to babysit a little girl named Heather, but mispronounced it as "Hedda." That could grow on you.

Hubster does not understand because oldest has been going to 'school' since he was one but K5 is differ. So much differ. Some days I just wish I could rewind and have just one of those days back that it was just him and me when he was a baby. Those were special times and don't get me wrong I LOVE LOVE LOVE both of my boys immensly but there is just a special something there with your first. He made me a mommy and I hope that I make him proud as he will make me the first day of big boy school!

The purple bow and new dress are adorable on Harper. Great colors for her. Your Mother is so sweet to have a luncheon for "the girls".

What wonderful friends!

I am so glad to be reminded of Harper not sleeping--not happy that she didn't, but I don't feel so alone with my little girl. It seems like the babies of all my friends slept 10-12 hours from day one. The longest DD has slept is 7, but now is back to 2-3. She also has eczema!!!

Thank you for being there and sharing your and Harper's story!

Girly days are always such fun! My "little" girl has just turned 21 and I cannot believe how quickly the time went by! I still see that little face with its puffy eyes when she was newborn, that first smile! Gone too soon! But growing up brings its own joys! I wouldn't change it for the world - mind you, those PMS days are rough!! But you work through them! LOL!

God Bless!

Well, that's what makes you a true mother...anybody could keep an eye on a baby sleeping in a crib, anybody could throw a bottle at a baby, anybody could just let their baby scream and cry all day and night long without making any attempt to comfort her...but you are "mothering" her by taking such good care of that sweet, precious, innocent, helpless baby! You just keep doing what you're doing, Kelly! I'm glad for Miss HBS that she is getting into some more happy and comfortable days, and happy for you that she is, too! Now, y'all have fun!! :o)

Now onto "Sweet Caroline"! That sounds like SUCH a special day! She seems like one of the sweetest people on this earth. Ever since the first time I visited her blog (and was "captivated"...yes, "captivated"! Haha!) by that beautiful blonde hair and big lipstick smile, I just fell in love with her. She's someone who's on my regular prayer rotation. Back when Harper was in the NICU, I remember having feelings like I wished I could stay up all night and pray, pray, pray for her because everyone else would be sleeping, and I worried. Then, it just came to me that I didn't need to worry about that, because someone somewhere would be awake and praying. And when I read on Caroline's blog that she had worried about the same thing and was assured in the same way, I just couldn't believe it! It's so powerful when we get those feelings of assurance from God. And I work as a nurse...night-shift...and when I worked while she was in the NICU still, I was able to pray for her all night since I was awake at the hospital. And I knew that, yup, there were people praying continuously for Harper. The picture of her and Harper..total sweetness! I love that Harper is hanging onto the front of her dress...she's got a hold of Caroline! ;o)

My 2nd daughter was a lot like Harper. I swear for the first 6 months of her life she did nothing but cry cry cry. Then once she turned 6 mos, it was like she turned into a completely different baby. She was the happiest, easiest baby ever. And the good news is, she's 3 1/2 now, and still my easiest child yet. My first daughter was an easy baby, but once she hit 18 mos, she was SO HARD. So hopefully Harper got it all out of her system early and will continue to be a pure angel for you! :)

I'm all for a rated-G Bachelorette via Kelly's Korner! I just saw an interview with that girl and she acknowledged making out with 10 guys. But don't they all...every season?

UGH- Can you believe they show this on tv???

I have a good friend who has the cutest little girl named Caroline too and they call her Sweet Caroline also. She actually is very crafty and has started a clothing line "Sweet Caroline Couture". The little clothes are precious. Thought some of you guys might like them.
