Monday Miscellaneous

Let's start the week with a bunch of random stuff, huh?

I posted a few new recipes on my recipe blog - like these green bean bundles. I'll try to get a few more up soon.
I first saw these dolls on Angie Smith's blog - Baby Be Blessed dolls. They contacted me recently and wanted to send Harper a doll. It is so neat - you get to pick out hair and materials and colors. Could this be any cuter????
And the best part - on the tummy of the doll - they put your child's name plus any verse you pick out. I couldn't think of a better verse for Harper than this one. It has been so true in my life. A card came with the doll and I just love what they said " With each doll we make we pray that God would place His blessing upon it and the child who receives it would be ready to hear, accept and embrace the truth of Jesus Christ". They go on to encourage the parent to stand strong on the foundation of God's word and to teach it.
Totally random - but who is embracing the trend of the Maxi dress??? I happen to love the look and I am thinking I need a few cheap maxi dresses to get me through the summer. What a comfortable and fun trend. With some flat cute sandals and jewelry - this look can take you anywhere!

And what would a random post be without a picture of these sweet cheeks??

One of my friends found out today that IVF didn't work for her and I'm just so devastated for her. It's hard to understand the "why's" behind it. They are a couple who would (and WILL) make such wonderful parents. Just a painful reminder to me to continue to spend time asking God to bless each of you who are waiting for a child. I grieve with you when the answer continues to be "not now". But I'm not giving up. I also have been so excited with so many praises lately of those I have prayed for.

the doll is so cute and so is Harper.

I have a friend who is going through IVF as well and who is really struggling with the whole thing. She's not a believer, so I am trying to let her know that I'm praying for her in all this and that I'm here for her when she needs me. But since I'm about to give birth to my second child- and she's been trying to have a baby since before I got pregnant with my first... well it's a tough situation. Hopefully she'll get some good news soon- I'm certainly praying for her to have a baby and to find Christ in all this too!

The green bean bundles - I feel cheated having lived 25 years without them finding their way to my belly.

The Baby Be Blessed doll - SO cute and beyond precious, especially with the verse choice. Perfect!

The other doll, aka Harper - that girl defines sweetness!

Hope you're having a great Monday, my friend!

Megan said...

I'm with you on the maxi dress, sister! And I was hoping that you would post the green bean bundles recipe. I saw it on yesterday's post and thought it looked genius - I love anything bacon wrapped! And with a maxi dress, it covers up some of the parts effected by my bacon love :-)

Shannon Willcutt said...

Love random postings!! Macy and Lucy each have a "Baby Be Blessed" doll...we love them!! I came across their website sometime last year and had to get them dolls for Christmas. I need to do a post on them, too, because they come up in conversation a good bit!

Rathi said...

The doll is too cute, sure Harper will love it. Sorry about your friend.. WE are in the same boat, with this month not being the right one.. it's hard but not giving up! Thanks for all the prayers for all of us!!

Rory said...

Maxi dresses are the best thing for girls of any size. And now there are cute cheap ones at Target and JC Penney.

I have 2 cousins with multiple IVF failures each, and I know yesterday was a hard day for them. It breaks my heart that some people struggle with having babies, it just reminds me how blessed I am in that department.

vera said...

It looks like Harper is right in the middle of saying something VERY important - I want to know what it was ;)

I just ordered this dress http://www.bodenusa.com/en-us/Womens-Dresses/WH153/Womens-Jersey-Maxi-Dress.html and I cannot WAIT for it to arrive - it looks so comfy!!

I'm so sorry for your friend. I know the pain of infertility too, and will pray that the Lord blesses her soon!

Jane said...

I love maxi dresses! Except ... they don't work very well with bicycles. I tried yesterday!

OK, so I am 7 months pregnant and just bought an adorable maxi dress for a party in June. The sales lady at the store said it was very versatile- park or party- you can wear it anywhere. When I got home, I contmplated the park thing. Can you really wear one of these on a random Tuesday? Just wondering what your thoughts were. I love the one I bought- it will be perfect post-partum, but not sure I'd be able to strut to the playground wearing one. Although it does sound super comfy! What are your thoughts?

Mandy said...

Miss Harper is just Beautiful!!

The recipe looks delish! I'll have to check your other blog out as well. :)

I love Maxi dresses and found a few cute ones at Kmart for $19.99. I don't like to spend alot on trendy clothes.

This is going to sound like a grandma talking (but, hey, I am one) BUT those maxi dresses could be dangerous if you are holding THE BABY and get your feet tangled up. Also the ones shown, you need an undershirt under them before you go out in public!!
See, I told you it would sound like a grandma.....sad, but true!

Love, MOM

Thanks for never giving up on all of us who are longing to have a baby one day. Personally, I am not going to give up hope either! I appreciate the support.

On another note - those maxi dresses. I've always liked them, but have never tried one on myself. Like you said, I'll probably get a cheapie one from Target or something to try it out. I too love accessorizing with shoes and jewelry. It's so fun to be a girl!

Anonymous said...

I love those dresses. Ebay has them for cheapo and I found a black one several months ago for $19.99 at Target. I love it! They are so easy to wear casual or dressed up.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. I hope she doesn't give up. There is always hope! You just never know what is waiting around the corner.

Heather said...

I don't know about the maxi dresses, I see some that I love the colors but do you have to have a certain body type to pull it off, I don't know if I could! But I may try one on soon!! Love that sweet doll, so precious!!!

I just bought a maxi dress today at Target!! It is super cute and only 20 dollars... the promenade Target had them on sale! I am kinda short but I pair my few maxis with a short heel and it looks super cute.
I will be praying for your friend. I also have a friend/client who has been going through this same treatment. It is so hard to see someone go through that when you know that they would make a great mother! I heart goes out to them. I am hoping and praying to have our first child by next spring, I can't wait for God to bless us with a angel.
God Bless you and your family

As a new mother who faced many fertility problems (2.5 years to get my baby) tell your friend to consider accupuncture- it helps prep the body for IVF and we didnt need anything else but accupuncture. we were told by our doctor that IVF was our only option-something I was not going to do. its much more natural and it WORKS!

harmonysong said...

Will definitely be praying for your friends!

If you find a cute and cheap maxi dress, please post where you found it! They all seem $50+. I have to keep looking.

Praying right now!
Psalms 40:11-13 Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me. For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me. Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.

Those green bean bundles look goooood! I bought two dresses at Old Navy a couple months ago when I was still pregnant, and I LOVED them! They weren't maternity dresses, but they worked perfectly. I will defintily be wearing those and more until I lose my baby weight. They were SO COMFY. (But now, it's funny, they are so much longer now that I don't have that huge belly mound!) Harper looks ADORABLE, as always!

Kelly, I like those dresses, but I keep asking myself..where would I wear these? As a stay at home mom the only time I really get dressed up is for church...and church is the last place I would wear a maxi dress. It is too revealing around the chest...which is why I might not wear it anywhere. LOL!!!!!!!
