Good Friday

It's Friday - but Sundays coming! (please watch)

Here is my sweet Harper - I got this flower band in the mail yesterday from Kristen and I had to put it on her!
It's hard to get a picture of her without her hand in her mouth! ha! This is Harper and both of her Easter baskets. She got these from both sets of grandparents (spoiled - I think so!)
This may put us on the list of bad parents - but we are not making her a basket. She's 12 weeks old (TODAY!) and she has more than any baby should have and her parents don't need to eat her candy. We will do Easter baskets from now on (I want to have a fun tradition with her) but this year we decided we would take the money we would spend and send it to the Ronald McDonald House in Tulsa in honor of her first Easter instead. I want to teach Harper the spirit of giving at at holidays (and all the time) instead of getting as she grows.

Today - Jesus is my Saviour!
"For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God" Romans 3:23
"The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" Romans 6:23
"that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation." Romans 10:9-10
Jesus did not die on the cross for no reason. He did it to take away our sins and be the sacrificial lamb so that we could accept him as our Saviour and have eternal life in Heaven.
Here is my bunny!

Our Choir sings this and it's just my favorite song - just makes me think of what Heaven will sound like with all of us singing. This is FBC Woodstock, GA. My very favorite part of the video is at the end - the pastor, Johnny Hunt, gets up and says "let's sing it again". Not many pastors would do that but sometimes when a song like that is so good - I just want to sing it again. And then if you find part 2 on you tube - he gets up and says "I learned a long time ago that when God shows up - you just get out of the way and let him work". AWESOME - that is worship!

We hope ya'll have a wonderful Easter!

I've enjoyed your posts this week with the Easter theme. I love your idea to make a donation in honor of Harper instead of doing another Easter basket. That is very special.

May God bless your family.

I love Harper's new flower headband and the bunny pics. I think donating the money is a wonderful idea. We did not do an Easter basket with my nephew last year, he was 4 months old and that is making this year really special because you can see the excitement in his face. It looks like Harper has some great loot from the grandparents! Enjoy this wonderful Easter weekend with your beautiful daughter.

So neat to see you have FBC Woodstock on here. I live about 5-7 miles from there. It has been amazing to see it grow. Definitely seems like God is showing up there and they are great stewards of His love! I couldn't get the videos to work, but it is probably my computer right now :(

Happy Good Friday!

Oh Kelly I used to go to First Baptist Church in Woodstock back in the 80s when Johnny Hunt started that tiny tiny church. I'm only about to turn 25 now so I was a baby. I then went on to college in Kennesaw, near Woodstock. You should see the church now. It's unbelievable, huge and def. not on the town square anymore! He's amazing. Sometimes I tear up because I would just love to go back there again - Im now living in Chattanooga, Tn. He's just wonderful. This made my day!

Sending money to the Ronald McDonald house is such a wonderful idea, hopefully it is a tradition you will keep with Harper as she grows up.
We bought our son the Longaberger basket for his first easter with us last year and we will fill it this year. We are not doing much candy, we are putting change in his Easter eggs for him to fill his piggy bank with and soon we will roll his coins and have him deposit it in his savings account.

The song gave me chills! I want this on my blog too.
And, you are so wise to limit the getting and focus on the giving. Our baby twins will be three at the end of April. It is now a tradition to have a big cookout at their house for a party-complete with bouncy house for the kids. But the gifting is to the March of Dimes in their honor. In January I volunteer as the MOD fundraiser on my block. In May our daughter, husband, and twins march in the MOD march in Austin with their NICU buddies.
Ya'll have a blessed Easter too!

Kelly:

I LOVE your idea about giving back instead of doing the Easter basket for Harper. I love your blog and I read alot of popular blogs and I admire the way you inspire others through your compassion. You always try and reach out to others in need and encourage others to send prayers. Others could learn from you about playing it forward and giving back to others instead of using their blogs to try and make a quick buck just because they have a child in the hospital. Beleive me I know and have given to many who needed but I dislike seeing people who can afford expensive cars and lavish trips using their blogs to pad their pockets and bloggers are being taken advantage of.

You are an inspiration to every mother and a true "Sister in Christ". Thank you for always being REAL and HONEST!!!!

God gave Harper a GREAT MOMMY!!!!!!

I used to attend FBC Woodstock when I lived in Atlanta. What an amazing church, pastor and experience that points right to God in all they do. I miss them. Your post reminded me (sad that I needed your post to do this... but) that Easter is when my hubby decided to follow Jesus and accept the gift of salvation! Praise God! We were dating and I dragged him to FBC Woodstock's Easter drama performance. At the alter call, he lept out of the pew and ran to the front to acknowledge his decision. It was an amazing day for me b/c this is when I learned that he was the one God had for me (I had been praying that if God wanted me to be with him, God would have to lead him to the cross!) I am so thankful for that and so thankful for you reminding me of it through your mention of that church. Happy Easter and Hallelujia for a risen Christ!

I think it is awesome that you are donating to the Ronald McDonald house, my husband and I stayed there after our twins were born. They were 11 weeks early and spent 5 weeks in NICU. This was after I was told I had a 99% chance of miscarriage, but God healed me!

Your blog is such a blessing to me! I love all the pictures of Harper and enjoy reading about your family. Thank you for sharing!

I have been following you from the beginning. What a testimony you have and you have shared it so beautifully. If you are ever in Woodstock I would love for you to be our guest at church. I pray you and your family have a blessed Easter. I hope you continue your ministry in blogging.

This is very long but on this day of all days it's worth reading in it's entirety. Know that I'm always praying!
Isaiah 53:1-12 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not. Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities. Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

Kelly,
I'm a faithful reader of your blog, but haven't posted much. My favorite Easter basket tradition is that my three kids all have the same baskets that they have had since their very 1st Easter. It's so fun, and they love it! My boys who are 18 and 16 have baskets with stuffed bunnies and ducks on them! Our princess, the baby, is 9 and has a longaberger Easter basket. So, I thought I'd let you know, so maybe you can be on the hunt for that special basket for next year.

Kelly, thank you so much for remembering Ronald McDonald House! A group of our bloggers prepared and served supper for the families at the RMD House in St. Louis last night, and what a fulfilling experience! Part of counting our blessings means remembering that others may not have those same blessing, and trying to help them through tough times. Easter is a wonderful time to do that. Bless you for your contribution!

Hey Kelly,
HAPPY EASTER!!! He IS RISEN!!!! Praise God for his sacrifice. The video "Unto the Lamb" is great. My church choir sang this song this morning at both our Easter services. Some of our youth group did a drama as we sang and it was GREAT!!!
I'm blessed enough to have a wonderful pastor and music who have the same idea about Getting out of the was of the Holy Spirit so he can "do his thang". I don't know about you but music ministers to my soul like nothing else. I love songs like this one because the message is so powerful.
Thanks for sharing it with the world. You are a blessing!!
