Monday Randomness

I don't know if you can see this but it says "Mommy's answered prayers" - Perfect!
I got these cute argyle baby legs at Target yesterday.
Sweetness

I have been watching "Toddlers and Tiaras" on TLC today and I am APPALLED. This little 7 year old girl (not the one pictured above) got highlights, fake nails, fake teeth, shaved her legs and got a spray on tan - plus fake eyelashes and make-up. SERIOUSLY? What is that teaching these little girls - that they aren't precious on their own? I mean - I am no natural beauty - but I'm 35. This just made me sad.

LINKY LALAPOOLOZA

My friend Rebekah is having her baby today - I'm excited and they don't know what it is so I can't wait to find out girl or boy and what name they chose!

Lianna
is having some amazing give aways on her site - go check it out!!!!

http://bevinsfamily.blogspot.com/

This family has lost two babies in the last couple of years and yesterday they brought home a sweet baby, Tess, who they were adopting and today the birth mother changed her mind. Can you imagine the heartbreak they are experiencing? Please lift them up in prayers!

Love Harper's tight too cute! Hope you have a great day!=]

I am too sad about the little girl that you mentioned... our generation has completely brain washed our little girls and teenage girls into thinking that true beauty is everything but NATURAL!

Also Harper is soo cute! I love that little onesie she has on! That statement is beyond true!
and the Bevin family is in my prayers
it's so sad that many families go through this.

I hope your having a great Monday!

Absolutely PRECIOUS!! I still continue to love her more and more with each passing day! I know, totally NOT possible being as though I LOOOOOOOVVVVVVVEEEEEE her sooooo much already, but you know... :)

Thanks for the pics. I'll be lifting Rebekah up, as well as the Bevin's family! Thanks for keeping us in the loop!

Love you

I watch those pageant shows too, and they really are ridiculous! I can't believe some of those mothers! It will be interesting to see how their daughters turn out when they're older....

Brandi said...

I love Harpers Leggies too cute. I have watched toddlers and tiaras a couple of times and I can not believe what those parents do to their childern. It's awful.

Krista said...

That tv show freaks me out. Some of those parents are CRAZY!!!

Gracie Beth said...

I saw one episode of toddlers in tiaras and it made me want to vomit!

Becki Francy said...

Kelly - Thanks for lifting up the Bevins Family. I know they appreciate all of the prayers. The babylegs are To die for! And I cannot believe that stuff....we need to teach our girls that they need to be beautiful on the INSIDE...what is going on nowadays?

Ashley said...

Toddlers and Tiaras is like a car wreck. You know you shouldn't watch, but you just can't help it!!! I am amazed at how the parents try to justify it---if it weren't so sad, it would be hilarious. Harper is adorable!

Kari Lynn said...

I think Harper's onsie is perfect. Sums it all up!

That show! I can't even watch it, the previews are enough. I hope those mom's make enough pageant money to pay for therapy, the parent or child will need it!!!

Alyssa said...

So many things in this one little post! You're little girl is stunning, as always. I LOVE the give away! I'm obsessed with the Girlie Girl one. As for the Bevins family, that is heartbreaking. I pray that they find strength. Thank you for sharing stories of families for the readers of your blog to pray for.

I love her outfit. That is precious :)

That outfit is ADORABLE!!!! :o) I totally agree, it's amazing what those pageant mom's will do!!!

Amanda Pittman said...

I love leggies!! They are my fave! My girls (3 and 1) wear them all the time!! I coordinate their dresses on Sundays with which leggies are clean!:) I'm a little obsessive....

How sad that parents do that to their children. I have not watched the show, but I thought that was a picture of a barbie doll.

Amanda @ Bibs and Cribs said...

Ooh, those awful pageant shows! I have caught just a little of a couple of episodes...Gives me the creeps!

Unknown said...

Didn't you say the other day how Harper has all these "daddy" outfits? I was SUPER excited to see her onsie today! SOOOOO perfect!

Brittany said...

Harper's leggies make my heart skip a beat. soooo cute! I watched toddlers and tiaras once or twice as well. I was APPALLED. There is enough pressure for young girls in this world already. Why teach your 2 year old that? I just got back from the store to get things to make your swiss cheese chicken tonight. I'm excited. Yum!

Katie said...

OH! I know! That whole kiddie pageant world is scary. I've seen that show, as well as some other similar documentaries, that are nothing but sad. I can't imagine wanting my children to act (let alone LOOK) like those girls. I'm so much more about the sweet, precious, innocent, feminine, and pure part of being a little girl. I remember how HUGE of a deal it was when I got to do big girl things like shaving my legs, wearing makeup, piercing my ears, and so on...I waited for those moments and they were special when they happened. I don't want to take those moments away from my daughters, you know?

Harper looks beautiful today! She always just looks so sweet and happy, bless her heart!

I'll be praying for the family you mentioned. I can't even fathom that heartache.

I'm so with you on the pageants. They make me angry.......!!

Shelley said...

I also watch that show. I am shocked at what some of those moms do. My daughter is 13 and just started doing pageants because she loves playing dress up. We focus on her natural beauty. I think what those moms are teaching their daughters is awful. It is possible to be beautiful without wearing a ton of make up, especially when your 7.

I love Harper's baby legs. She is beautiful!

Anonymous said...

First, Harper is just adorable! Second, I watched one (and only 1) episode of Toddlers & Tiaras this weekend, and I, too was appaled. I found myself just continually shaking my head at what these parents put their children through. I mean, come on, they are BABIES and should be playing and running and getting dirty! Yikes!

Kristine said...

Hi Kelly!

I was going to send you an email, but then I saw those "baby legs" and HAD to comment!!! TOO CUTE!!

There is another family out there in need of prayers and support. I'm shamelessly putting a link to find out more about them here. I hope you don't mind. :)

http://leeleenews.blogspot.com/2009/03/miracle-monday-gwendolyn-strong.html

Gwendolyn is ADORABLE and her parents are working so hard to help her and other babies with this awful disease.

since when did Target start carrying baby legs????? I will be on the hunt next trip...
I've caught that show a few times too and it makes me sick. It is always about the moms more than the kids. Just makes me ill to think the moms can't find a better way to spend time with their daughter than to teach them that they can win crowns if they are pretty enough. sickening.
And no, I cannot imagine what that family is going thru. I hate crying, but I'm off to check out their site and pray for them.

That baby just keeps getting cuter! My daughters and I watched Toddlers in Tiaras and we were shocked. I had no idea that was going on. Poor little girls.

Danielle (Life with the Hewitt Family) said...

I completely understand what you are talking about with "Toddlers and Tiaras." I am amazed at the lengths that some of the mother's will go to so their daughter could win a pagent. I just pray that when these episodes air the mother's can honestly see that they have a problem and get help! Unfortunately, they will probably just be excited because they are on tv...so sad!

Kristina said...

That show BLOWS MY MIND!!! How far in the past are these people living? You would THINK that they would come around to the more natural look. Those dresses are just dreadful!! It's like a horrible 80s prom being re-lived over and over again!

Please keep my friend L.S. in your prayers! Her 8 month old son died last week from an injury sustained by her husband while she was at work. She is devistated and my heart hurts so much for her! It makes my prayers FOR a baby seem so miniscule at the moment.

Dear Argyle baby leggings,

I my gosh I have caught a few minutes of that show and I couldn't watch it. I couldn't even imagine putting my little girl through all that.

Glad I'm not the only one that feels it's wrong !

Heather said...

LOVE the onesie and the baby legs!!! That show makes me IRATE. I refuse to watch it, but I can tell from the previews that it is a complete outrage. Just another sign of the times these days....Come, Lord Jesus! :)
Harper is adorable, as always!

I just canNOT get enough of that baby girl!!! ♥ LOTS of prayers answered in her sweet self! And I am TOTALLY with you on the child pageant stuff - yikes!

Kristin said...

Oh I just love her shirt!!

My husband and I were just discussing that Tiaras show the other day and how it was teaching these little girls all the wrong things. I honestly don't know what these Moms are thinking, and I hope these little girls don't grow up thinking that they are never good enough the way they are.

How heartbreaking for the family you mentioned to not be able to keep their adopted daughter. I was adopted as a baby, so stories like that always touch my heart. I'm headed over to read more on their blog. Thanks for the link.

Have a great week Kelly!

I watched one episode of the Toddlers and Tiaras and I was so disgusted I turned it off before it was over!! One poor girl had false teeth!!! I couldn't believe it!! I think kids are gorgeous just the way they are!!

I absolutely love Harper's baby leggings...they are tooo cute!

You have got to be kidding me...they actually let a child that young get all that done to her? That's just sad.

I think the children's pagents are too much! Most of those kids aren't even old enough to decide they want to do that.

I can't imagine having a birth parent change her mind. I was sick when our son's parents contested their tpr.

I don't think I could watch that pageant show. Uuuuggghhh! Those little girls are going to be so mixed up when they get older. Very sad!

Colleen said...

Harper looks so precious! Love her onsie.

The pagents for little girls in my opinion is sickening. The parents who put their children in these need Dr. Phil! What this is telling those children is they must be beautiful to matter and their own beauty isn't good enough so lets put a ton of fake stuff on you to make you better. And the worst thing is the fact that LITTLE GIRLS ARE BEING TURNED INTO SEX OBJECTS BEFORE THEY LOSE THEIR BABY TEETH!! How can mothers do this to their children!? It breaks my heart and I am so thankful that my granddaughters will never be part of that nightmare. Let them be CHILDREN for as long as they can.

Donna said...

I have never understoody why the little girl pagents need the elaborate hair dos and make up, etc. A seven yr. old has beautiful skin, freshly washed. These are frustrated wanna be Mothers living through their poor child. But Harper on the other hand is a beauty in her own right. Very cute baby legs today.
Keeping you in my heart in GA.

I saw that show too and my jaw was on the ground. Most of the kids don't even look like they had fun.

Stupid stupid pageants. I just do not understand how parents think that is acceptable. I struggle with the fact the parents let their middle schoolers do things like tan and wear make-up, but 7?!?! Are you serious?

Beautiful pictures as always! I am right there with you on the Toddlers in Tiaras! I think it is awful that the moms are doing that!

My sister did not wait on you. She is so shy and she said she didn't know what to say! I told her that you know your "Famous" and that you wouldn't have thought anything of it! If I ever see you out, I will be saying hi for sure!

Thanks for the compliments on my family! I am pretty proud! Keep on blogging cause I love looking!

Kelly,
I haven't commented much since y'all have come home from the hospital. I prayed so hard for Harper and passed the request on to several people as well as had her picture on my blog. I'm friends with Julie (OK) and had read your blog from hers.
I wanted to tell you what a doll Harper is. It's so great to see her doing so well. What a testimony of God's faithfulness to you and Scott.
Thank you for passing along requests like this one from the Bevins family. I know it helps to have others standing in the gap when Kim doesn't understand where God is in this and is not feeling like praying.
I'm honored to be able to go to her blog and write a few words to let her know I will pray for her and for baby Tess.
Also, I've watched "Toddlers & Tiaras" and I thought the same thing you did. It really floored me. So crazy!
Blessings,

Kelly, wow. I am so thankful for all of your sweet words, and for sending over all of your amazing prayer warriors. I am forever grateful.

I have been stalking your blog (this is embarrassing) since before you found out Harper was a girl. And now that I know you have read some of mine, I should admit that I completely copied your Christmas ornaments! Sorry for not giving credit to you :) Ahhhh... I feel better having gotten that off my chest!

I am here in Tulsa, and so many times wanted to come hold your hand in the hospital, but I couldn't bring myself to return to the place where both Carter and Lucy passed away. I was praying nonstop for Miss Harper, and didn't want to scare you with my story. I am sorry, I should have come.

I am weary tonight, but know that the God I serve is a mighty big one! Thank you again dear friend for your prayers!

Ohhhh and if I could get my hands on those thighs of Harpers!!!! She is such a miracle!

I always come back to these verses. It never ceases to amaze me that the Holy Ghost Himself prays for us! He's praying for you! There's no greater comfort than that!
Romans 8:26-27 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

I have NEVER liked beauty pageants for little girls... I just think it messes with their self-esteem. I don't EVEN understand makeup, tanning, etc!!!

Harper is lookin' good in her argyle leggings!

Madison Sanders said...

I've watched that show. It's absolutely awful!

The parents say that the kids want to do the pageants...that's a LIE! Those little girls would rathern be playing with their friends than parading on stage. The fake teeth and tan are something else. That show just shows what our society values the most(not everyone).

Glad Harper is smiling more!

I can't believe how big Harper is getting... my they grow so fast... and change so quickly. I remember the baby days... I miss them, and will never have them again because we are done with our three. hello,

I can't tell you how much I have enjoyed your blog. My husband and I can't imagine putting a little child through false teeth, fake tan make up and over the top hair do and for what? The mom's say the little girl has fun but throughout most of those programs its obvious they aren't.

The bevins family is in my prayers. We've been through a failed adoption and know all too well how painful it is. We've been trying to grow our family for 3 years without success. Your blog has been such a blessing. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful miracle with us!

I watch Toddlers and Tiara's too. It is the train wreck I cannot stop watching because I had my oldest in pageants and quit when she was 3 and the other girls had full make up and fake eyelashes. Not for us, I like my girl to look her age! She is now 12 and still not allowed to wear makeup. I tell her to enjoy looking fabulous with no makeup because the day will come soon when she has to cover up age spots and wrinkles :)

Lindsay said...

I've seen one episode of Tiara's and Tantrums and that was about one too many!! Seriously - it really is appauling isn't it? Why do these moms think it's okay to make your child think outer beauty is the most important thing, ever?!

Wait, is that a real picture of a little girl? It looks sooo fake! Like an adult face plastered onto a tiny body.
