Tis the Season

Tis the Season to be Busy, huh? I have REALLY tried to slow down since I'm almost 9 months pregnant - but it's just so hard this time of year. There are so many fun things going on. (Plus I'm hibernating all of January, February and some of March in my pj's and I may not leave the house during that time - so I'll slow down then).

We have our last night of childbirth class tonight. Then tomorrow morning - I signed up to make 120 red velvet cake balls for our youth dessert theatre they are having this weekend.
WHAT WAS I THINKING???? First of all - I got about 45 done earlier this week but I'm afraid Harper and I (and probably Scott) have eaten about 1/3 of those. So tomorrow morning I have to somehow get about 80-90 made. It's just so hard not to scarf these down - if you don't have the recipe - it is here.

Our big Choir Christmas program is Sunday morning. I tried on my choir formal this morning and to my surprise, shock and amazement - I think I can squeeze it on. So we have choir practice tomorrow afternoon to get ready.

Then Sunday afternoon is probably one of my favorite things of the season. The junior league does a tour of homes in the area. Several friends and I have done this the last two years. It is always SO neat. Some of the homes we have been in have been just unbelievable and you think your house looks so cute decorated for Christmas until you go to the McMansions with 25 trees and you feel a little like Charlie Brown but it's still fun. We are only going to be able to hit 4 out of the 12 houses this year because of church programs, nursing babies and one preggo girl who can barely get in and out of the car. But I'm super excited about it anyway!

I hope your weekend is packed full of Christmas fun as well!!!!!

There is a lot of love in my heart right now for those cake balls. I would say I wish I lived near you so I could come help you make them, but I have a feeling I'd only end up setting you back a few every couple of minutes. :-)

Have a great weekend, girl!

I LOVE cake balls!!! I have not tried red velvet, but I like strawberry w/ cream cheese frosting dipped in white bark (I have tried in chocolate, but everyone liked white better). You can also buy the colored bark at Hobby Lobby and do cute combos! I did chocolate ones dipped in pink for a shower. They were SUPER cute!
Have fun at all of your activities...but rest up, too!!

Yummy! Thank you so much for the cake balls recipe. I'm going to try some ASAP! It is so neat that you are here at the end of your pregnancy during the holiday season. You'll look back on this time with such great memories, and having the holidays makes it not seem to drag on so long, I bet. The last month always seems to take the longest!

His name is Levi Elliott J*****. He weighed 7 lbs., 6 oz. and is 20 in. long. He has a lot of really dark hair and is beautiful!! I filled up my first brag book with pictures the first day :)

I just wanted to share this with you. God is good!

Good luck with everything this weekend! And friend, I cannot tell you what a good decision it is to stay in your PJ's for a couple of months and just enjoy that sweet baby girl. I literally did not leave the house almost at all for 3 months after I had Connor, and it was the best gift I could give myself. My friends all give me a hard time about it...some of them were back at church in less than a week....but it was so precious to me and just so nice to not have to go anywhere. So enjoy that time...and don't feel like you have to do anything else until you are ready!

Hi Kelly!
I found your blog through a friend's blog and I have really enjoyed reading it! I am also an OBU graduate (1991) and I met my husband there. I have 11 year old twin daughters and they already want to go to Ouachita, too! I've never met you, but I feel like I know you through your entertaining posts! I pray that you have a safe delivery and a healthy baby girl! Daughters are such a blessing! Take care!

Kelly,
I've been reading your blog for awhile now and love it. My husband and I also went to OBU. His favorite thing in the world is red velvet cake. So I tried your cake ball receipe and they were a huge hit at our house. I made them a few other times for friends and they loved them too. Good luck with your pregancy. Tresure every minute with her when she is born. My oldest is three but it seems just like yesterday, I was in your shoes, freaking out about the child birth classes. Wish I could say, it wasn't that bad but I had a c-section so I never got to experience the whole birthing thing. (By the way, I go to church with the Jennifer from the above comment. She is my son's sunday school teacher -small world!);) Thanks for sharing your receipes. Good luck with all the baking!

I remember 9 months pregnant. All the shifting in the bod and all the weird sensations, oh and the sweet baby, moving and getting ready for the next big step. What a marvelous time for you. I'm so happy for you and Scott. God is so faithful, sweet girl.

Have fun with all your events and remember to breathe it all in.

Blessings to you, Dawn

I have been following your site for quite some time and always enjoy keeping up with what's going on with you. I can hardly wait for the arrival of little Harper.

I am definitely going to try out those yummy looking cake balls; look like something I can make and send to work with my hubby some time.

I wanted to let you know that I also have a recipe blog in addition to my regular blog(www.heywhatscooking.blogspot.com).It is almost exclusively made up of Weight Watchers recipes or recipes that I've converted for WW points but there are some tried and true good ones there.
